The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 130: Yvette Aston Surprises Ethan Grant Again
CHAPTER 130: CHAPTER 130: YVETTE ASTON SURPRISES ETHAN GRANT AGAIN
"Ethan, I heard Melody and Jayden arrived in Solara earlier, and the senior said their assistant sent gifts worth three million. I know you don’t want to give up this project to Jayden, after all..." Wendy sighed, worried for Ethan Grant. "Yvette, what gift did you prepare for Mr. Aldridge?"
Wendy wanted to see Yvette Aston’s embarrassment.
If the value and prestige of the gift are lower than what Jayden and Melody prepared for Scott Aldridge, it would surely be mocked.
"Da... crabs." Yvette spoke softly.
"Huh?" Wendy thought Yvette was being stingy, wouldn’t prepare a grand gift, but hearing "crabs" still made her think she heard it wrong.
"Crabs..." Yvette repeated.
"..." Wendy was stunned for a moment, then covered her mouth and laughed. "Yvette, are you serious?"
After mocking Yvette, Wendy quickly looked at Ethan Grant. "Ethan, what kind of gift are crabs? This won’t do, our gift certainly can’t be lower than Jayden’s, luckily I prepared an extra one beforehand, otherwise this would be embarrassing."
Pretending to be relieved, Wendy scolded Yvette gently. "Yvette, next time when preparing gifts, ask me, I’ll help you pick something better, okay?"
Yvette lowered her head, not speaking.
She felt that someone as wealthy as Scott Aldridge wouldn’t care about the monetary value; she was quite thoughtful about the crabs.
"The crabs Yvette prepared are precious." Ethan Grant said in a low voice, clearly displeased.
"Huh? Crabs, how precious?" Wendy’s face was filled with amusement, wanting to know how expensive the crabs could be to make Ethan Grant think they were precious.
"Three hundred each." Yvette was a bit afraid to look at Ethan Grant.
Wendy probably thought this was the funniest thing today and couldn’t help but laugh again. "Yvette, you’re too cute."
"Do you think for Scott Aldridge, what qualifies as expensive? A boss with assets over a billion, does he care about cash value? What’s valuable is the sentiment." Ethan Grant warned Wendy not to mock Yvette any further.
Wendy indeed couldn’t laugh anymore, quickly turned to welcome Scott Aldridge as he came from the hotel.
"Your performance today was poor, docking a day’s pay." Ethan Grant took the opportunity to ’threaten’ Yvette.
Earlier, Wendy almost leaned on him, didn’t she see?
Yvette felt wronged and asked softly. "Mr. Grant, since when did you have a woman allergy?"
This wasn’t mentioned during training, just that Ethan Grant had severe cleanliness issues.
"Before boarding the plane." Ethan Grant replied in a lowered voice, snorted, and walked straight toward Scott Aldridge.
Yvette was stunned on the spot.
Before boarding the plane, just became allergic to women?
"Mr. Aldridge, arriving early was a bit abrupt." Ethan Grant stepped forward to shake hands with Scott Aldridge.
Scott Aldridge gave Ethan Grant due respect, personally coming to the hotel to meet him. "Not at all, I’m eager to see Mr. Grant sooner."
The two exchanged business pleasantries, starting to compliment Wendy. "Wendy contacted me half a month in advance, insisting I make time available, I reserved the whole day for you two as a couple."
Scott Aldridge clearly saw the news online, after all, the Grant Family has already acknowledged Wendy as their daughter-in-law.
"Mr. Aldridge is too kind, Wendy put great effort into this, she is like a sister to me, if she gets married, I will certainly prepare a lavish dowry." Ethan Grant spoke politely.
Scott Aldridge paused, looked at Wendy in surprise, sister?
Didn’t Arthur, when facing reporters, say the two families were going to be united in marriage? Or could it be... without Ethan’s consent?
Interesting.
"Hahaha, Wendy is a good girl, back in university, I quite admired her." Scott Aldridge laughed, steering the topic away.
Wendy’s expression was quite unpleasant, fingers clenched.
"This visit was rushed, without preparation for grand gifts, did Mr. Aldridge’s mother receive the crabs Yvette sent ahead? Are they satisfactory?" Ethan Grant asked casually, with his usual aloof demeanor.
When Yvette heard Ethan Grant call her, she walked over awkwardly and spoke. "Mr. Aldridge, long time no see."
Scott Aldridge halted his steps, the smile in his eyes slowly freezing, then transforming to shock. "Yvette?"
Yvette awkwardly smiled.
Wendy was also stunned, Yvette knew Scott Aldridge? "Senior, you know Yvette?"
"Yvette is also a fellow alumna, a genius junior in the finance department, back then she was first in the entrance exams to our department, I personally welcomed her as the student council president." Scott Aldridge spoke with evident delight. "What a coincidence, Yvette and Mr. Grant are..."
Ethan Grant narrowed his eyes, looking at Yvette with depth; she truly always managed to surprise him. "My assistant."
"Making our department’s genius girl settle for being an assistant, only Mr. Grant could do that." Scott Aldridge laughed heartily, clearly letting go of his estrangement and caution toward Ethan Grant. "Yvette, whatever Ethan Grant pays you, I’ll offer double, how about that?"
Yvette was a bit embarrassed, kept her head down without speaking.
Scott Aldridge went abroad for studies during the latter part of his fourth year, returned recently to take over the family business, presumably unaware of all she’s been through.
Knowing Scott Aldridge during those two years was when she was at her peak.
"Mr. Aldridge is already trying to poach my employee, seems I need to be mindful to keep her." Ethan Grant spoke with a smile, evidently declaring his ownership.
Scott Aldridge also detected Ethan Grant’s implication, glanced at Wendy and then Yvette, but said nothing.
They’re all seasoned in business, well aware.
"So it was Yvette who chose the crabs, no wonder my mother liked them so much, praised them endlessly. To eat crabs of this quality during this season, it’s really thoughtful." Scott Aldridge was clearly in a good mood, finding a topic to chat with Yvette.
And this Wendy, taking the guise of a ’junior,’ inviting Scott Aldridge was growing increasingly awkward.
She cast a resentful glance at Yvette, the more Wendy felt Yvette was a threat, in every aspect.
As the eldest daughter of the Bell Family, Wendy has been too proud since childhood, she won’t allow anyone to stand in her way, nor let any woman snatch what belongs to her.
"Mr. Grant, can you let Yvette ride in my car? We haven’t seen each other for six or seven years, I’m genuinely thrilled today." Scott Aldridge invited Yvette to join him.
Wendy smiled. "Of course, I’m sure Yvette also misses the senior."
Since Scott Aldridge said so, Ethan Grant certainly couldn’t disrespect him.
Wendy was quite pleased, at least she managed to send Yvette, this burden, away.
This way she could spend time alone with Ethan Grant.
As long as Yvette wasn’t around, Wendy believed Ethan Grant was still special towards her.
Before Yvette’s appearance, Ethan Grant expressed remorse for past events, saying he would take responsibility, and would assist the Bell Family in business to the best of his ability.
"Ethan, what do you think?" Seeing Ethan lowered his pressure, Wendy smiled and asked.
Scott Aldridge and Yvette were also waiting for Ethan Grant’s reply.
"Mr. Grant, I and Mr. Aldridge indeed... haven’t met in a long time, we’ll reminisce." Seeing the awkward atmosphere, Yvette took the initiative to propose sitting in Scott Aldridge’s car.
Ethan Grant’s expression was unpleasant, secretly glared at Yvette, it seemed a day’s wage docking as punishment was too light.
