The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 132: Ethan Grant Gets Drunk and Is Taken Away by Wendy Bell
CHAPTER 132: CHAPTER 132: ETHAN GRANT GETS DRUNK AND IS TAKEN AWAY BY WENDY BELL
Standing worriedly in place, Yvette anxiously called Christopher Carter. "Christopher, Mr. Grant is drunk. Miss Wendy Bell and the secretary drove him back. I bought some hangover medicine and am taking a cab back. Can you pick him up?"
"Yvette, I’m not at the hotel. Mr. Grant sent me to Linworth for some tasks. I won’t be back until early tomorrow." Christopher sounded a bit anxious. "You should hurry back in a cab."
Yvette extended her hand to hail a taxi, but it was hard to catch one by the roadside.
Anxiously standing still, Yvette ran toward the direction of the hotel.
After about five minutes of running, Yvette finally managed to hail a taxi by the roadside.
"Driver, to Ripple Court Hotel, can you go faster?"
The taxi driver was efficient, speeding off as soon as they were asked.
After getting out and paying, Yvette ran into the hotel to catch the elevator.
"Hello, ma’am, are you our guest? We need to verify your identity; please bring your ID to the front desk for checking."
Yvette’s steps paused a bit. Although she hadn’t stayed in a hotel for six years and was almost out of touch with society during her time in prison, she knew hotels wouldn’t require guests to verify their identity again.
Clearly, someone was intentionally trying to stall her.
"I have a room keycard." Yvette showed the keycard to the person.
"Sorry, we need to verify your identity."
"My ID is in the room." Yvette was restless and wanted to leave.
"Sorry, without any ID proof, we cannot let you leave. We’re currently cracking down on call girls, and you don’t look quite like a decent person." The hotel receptionist’s words were unfriendly, laced with sarcasm.
Yvette was very angry but didn’t have the mind to argue. "Call the police then."
After speaking, Yvette was about to enter the elevator.
The receptionist, looking angry, grabbed Yvette. "Our manager said you can’t go in. Have some decency; everyone upstairs knows what you’re here for. If you want some dignity, hurry and leave."
"What am I here for?" Yvette looked at her.
"Aren’t you just a lady of the night? Why pretend?" The receptionist rolled her eyes.
"Which manager said that?" Yvette glanced at the time, her eyes red with anxiety.
"Our hotel manager sent your picture personally, saying not to let you in and that you need to be checked. Everyone knows what you’re doing; stop pretending and hurry up and leave." The receptionist refused to let Yvette enter.
Yvette stood there, at a loss. How could she get upstairs quickly?
"I am the personal assistant to the CEO of the Grant Group; here’s my employee ID." Yvette suddenly remembered the employee ID on her person and showed it to them.
The receptionist was momentarily stunned and turned to look at their department manager. "Sis, she says she’s the CEO’s assistant, but Manager Thorne said... did we make a mistake?"
"Manager Thorne said to stop her, we..."
Before they could finish, Yvette had already rushed into the elevator, quickly swiping the room card and pressing the floor button.
"Hey! Stop!"
As the elevator moved, Yvette breathed a sigh of relief.
She knew this was definitely Wendy Bell deliberately making things difficult for her, but she had no choice.
On the way back, even the taxi driver knew about the Grant Family and the Bell Family in Meridia arranging a marriage – truly a marriage of the century.
Judging from Arthur Grant’s attitude towards Ethan Grant, Ethan’s position in the Grant Group was precarious, and he needed a marriage alliance to solidify his position.
Melody Crowe and Jayden Grant were likely the ones most opposed to Ethan Grant marrying Wendy Bell.
The elevator doors opened, and Yvette quickly walked towards Ethan Grant’s room. "Knock, knock, knock."
Yvette anxiously knocked on the door.
There was no response from inside the room.
Yvette’s breath tightened as she searched for the room card.
When leaving the hotel, Christopher gave her two room cards and mentioned the room number.
But upon opening the room, the suite was vast and empty.
Yvette anxiously called Ethan Grant, but he didn’t answer.
Wendy Bell must’ve opened another room.
"Christopher, I can’t find Mr. Grant. He’s not in the room. It’s possible Wendy Bell opened another room. What should I do..." Yvette squatted on the ground, her voice laced with sobs.
"I’ve already found out; Wendy Bell is in 80269. Go there quickly." Christopher was also a bit anxious, having guessed this would happen.
The way Wendy Bell looked at their Mr. Grant, it was as if she wanted to devour him whole.
If they arrived late, their Mr. Grant might really suffer a loss.
Yvette got up and ran out.
"Knock, knock, knock." Yvette stood outside the door, anxiously knocking.
But Wendy Bell wouldn’t open the door at all.
Yvette was so anxious she wanted to cry, but now was not the time for tears.
"Knock, knock, knock."
Probably annoyed by Yvette’s knocking, Wendy Bell finally opened the door.
Wrapped in a bath towel, with wet hair, she only opened the door a crack. "Yvette, is something wrong?"
"Where’s Mr. Grant?" Yvette panted heavily.
"We’re about to rest." Wendy Bell smiled at Yvette. "Yvette, there’s no need to be so tense. You know my relationship with Ethan well; we’re bound to marry sooner or later."
Yvette clenched her fingers. "I need to see Mr. Grant."
"Yvette, you’re just an assistant." Wendy Bell laughed. "It’s not quite appropriate to manage your boss’s personal life, right? Sweet Yvette, you should just go rest; I’ll take care of Ethan."
"Right now... you’re not married yet. I have to see Mr. Grant." Yvette didn’t know where she found the courage, but she was determined to take Ethan Grant back.
Wendy Bell’s face turned somewhat sour. "Yvette, Ethan’s situation at the company is more difficult than you think. He can only stabilize his current position by marrying me. Do I need to spell it out for you?"
Yvette took a deep breath, lowered her head, and her heart ached with a dull pain.
"I need to see Mr. Grant for an important matter regarding work." Yvette insisted on seeing Ethan Grant, willing to listen only to his decision.
If Ethan Grant wanted her to leave... she would go.
"Ethan, Yvette says she needs to talk to you about something." Wendy Bell called out.
There was no response from the room.
Yvette’s breath trembled as she stood waiting.
"You see, he doesn’t want to meet you. Whatever it is, talk about it tomorrow." Wendy Bell said, attempting to close the door.
"I have hangover medicine for Mr. Grant..."
"Give it to me." Wendy Bell reached out for the medicine.
Yvette kept her head down and hesitated for a long time before handing the medicine to Wendy Bell.
"Yvette, you like Ethan, don’t you?" Wendy Bell laughed. "One must be realistic; you can’t grasp for the clouds while standing in the mud. Do you understand what I mean? It’s better to hide those feelings."
A woman knows a woman best. She clearly saw through Yvette’s affection for Ethan Grant.
Yvette hurriedly denied it. "No... I don’t..."
She didn’t dare to like Ethan Grant.
She wasn’t worthy.
"Six years ago, you were already Meridia’s biggest joke, don’t make yourself a joke again." Wendy Bell said with a meaningful mocking tone, closing the door.
Yvette stood outside, her legs rigid.
She didn’t know if she should leave.
Or just stand outside and keep watch.
Or whether she should... let Ethan Grant and Wendy Bell stay in the same room.
Indeed, for Ethan Grant, marrying into the Bell Family would be the choice that maximizes benefits.
She and Ethan Grant were just in a work relationship...
