The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 17: Proving Innocence by Taking Off Clothes
CHAPTER 17: CHAPTER 17: PROVING INNOCENCE BY TAKING OFF CLOTHES
"What are you doing!" Yvette Aston walked into the courtyard, just in time to see the nanny kicking Summers.
Her voice trembled slightly, and Yvette instinctively rushed forward to push the nanny away, shielding Summers in her arms. "Summers, mommy’s here, be good, Summers."
Summers was in terrible pain and started crying. "Mommy..."
Trembling, Yvette hugged Summers tightly and looked at those bullying a child.
The Grant Family, even their servants are so disgusting.
"Your son, just like you, doesn’t want to be a good person but a thief. He stole our Young Master Stephen’s toy and even broke it." The nanny said sarcastically from above. "Like mother, like child."
"I heard the kid’s a little bastard; who knows who his father is, probably no good either. Born from a thief and a wild man, what can he be?"
"Dragons breed dragons, phoenixes breed phoenixes, a mouse’s child is born to dig holes." The servants all mocked Summers and Yvette.
Just because Yvette was once a high-and-mighty lady, now she’s even worse than these servants.
Just because her child doesn’t have a father.
"Summers, don’t listen..." Yvette covered her child’s ears, not wanting him to hear the filthy words of the world.
"Where do you think you’re going? Make him kneel and apologize to me, or I won’t let him go." Little Stephen Sinclair was already learning the domineering ways of Chelsea Grant and Jayden Grant.
They say a nephew takes after his uncle; since Chelsea Grant and Jayden Grant are siblings, Stephen Sinclair naturally resembles Jayden, especially with that demanding tone, exactly like Jayden demanding Summers kneel.
Yvette ignored Stephen Sinclair, holding Summers as she headed back to the utility room.
"Our young master is speaking to you, can’t you hear? Two little thieves." The nanny pushed Yvette back to the ground.
Yvette instinctively shielded Summers, injuring her ankle again, breaking out in a cold sweat from the pain.
"Summers wouldn’t steal your toy." Yvette believed in her son; he was so obedient, so well-behaved, how could he steal a toy?
"It was him, make him apologize to my Ultraman!" Stephen Sinclair insisted on Summers apologizing, even to a toy.
Although this was just childish behavior, Yvette felt it was humiliating.
Everyone could shamelessly humiliate her and Summers.
"Mommy..." Summers said with reddened eyes, hugging Yvette tighter. "Mommy, I apologize."
"But mommy..." Summers feared Yvette would be wronged; he was only five, and his aggrieved voice trembled. "I didn’t steal the Ultraman, he threw it there, and it broke. I wanted to fix it for him."
Yvette held her son tighter, squeezing him forcefully. "Mommy believes you, Summers, you don’t need to apologize."
Patting her son’s back, Yvette kneeled on the ground, speaking softly. "Young Master Stephen, I apologize to you. I stole your toy, broke your toy, is my apology enough?"
Stephen Sinclair arrogantly placed his hands on his hips. "Bad woman, you thief."
"She’s just a thief, stealing the young lady’s life, and stealing things all over the house."
Yvette felt it was ironic. She had just come back, and everyone knew she wouldn’t steal a child’s toy, but because she had a stain on her character, all the blame was pushed onto her.
"What’s going on? The necklace I just placed on the sink after washing my hands, where is it?" Chelsea Grant walked out of the front hall and asked displeased.
She usually didn’t come home, today she came to pick up Stephen.
It had only been a few hours, and the household staff was so unreliable.
The servants exchanged glances, bowing their heads in panic.
After a moment, someone pointed at Yvette. "It’s her, it must be her, she’s a thief, a habitual one. She even admitted to stealing Young Master Stephen’s toy for her son just now."
Chelsea Grant’s face darkened as she walked over for a look.
Upon seeing Yvette again, Chelsea Grant’s eyes flashed with surprise, then her face darkened. "Yvette?"
Jayden had said Yvette was out of prison. Didn’t expect it to be true?
"You have such audacity, having a bastard, making my brother lose face back then, and now after being released, you dare to come with the child? Are you intending to cling onto my brother?" Chelsea Grant’s anger was intense, thinking Yvette was here to bother Jayden.
Yvette kept silent, lowering her head to protect Summers tightly.
"Miss, it must be her who stole the bracelet." The servant took the opportunity to smear.
Yvette powerlessly explained, would anyone believe she just returned?
"Did you take my bracelet?" Chelsea Grant watched Yvette with a look of amusement.
Unexpectedly, five years in prison could change a person so much.
"I didn’t..." Yvette spoke hoarsely.
"How can you prove it?" Chelsea Grant raised an eyebrow.
"Miss, have her strip to prove she has nothing hidden. If she refuses, it proves she’s guilty!" The nanny said mockingly.
