The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 20: Summers’ Treatment Requires Cooperation from Her Biological Father
CHAPTER 20: CHAPTER 20: SUMMERS’ TREATMENT REQUIRES COOPERATION FROM HER BIOLOGICAL FATHER
"That child is not mine," Chase Sinclair instinctively explained.
"Chase Sinclair, stop pretending!" Chelsea Grant wouldn’t believe him.
Arthur Grant frowned. "No matter whose child it is, I hope you can manage the situation well."
Chase Sinclair’s palms were slightly sweaty; Arthur Grant was deliberately pressuring him.
Watching how he would handle Yvette Aston to restore his daughter’s dignity.
Chelsea Grant looked at Chase Sinclair with schadenfreude. "Let me see how you’re going to deal with Yvette and that little bastard. If handled well, my dad might help your family."
Chase Sinclair looked at Chelsea Grant with intense anger, snorted, and turned to leave.
"Dad, why didn’t you let me speak?" As soon as Chase Sinclair left, Chelsea Grant began to act spoiled with Arthur Grant.
"If the two of you had half of your older brother’s steadiness and courage, I would be relieved." Arthur Grant sighed. "Marriage and love mean nothing; you have to hold onto someone’s handle to seize their body and mind."
Chelsea Grant curled her lips in anticipation, wondering whether Chase Sinclair would act against Yvette Aston and that child for the sake of The Sinclair Family’s business.
"Dad, someone like Chase Sinclair won’t listen obediently." Jayden Grant said with a stern face.
This Chase Sinclair, brave enough to dig up his turf back then, huh...
Then he must be prepared to pay the price.
"The Sinclair Family is facing more than just a small crisis this time; he will come to plead with you." Arthur Grant patted Jayden Grant’s shoulder. "Recently, you need to focus; I’m very dissatisfied with your performance in the company, your brother isn’t happy either."
"Dad! With Ethan around, no matter what I do, no one will be satisfied." Jayden Grant was jealous of Ethan Grant, yet he has to admit that Ethan Grant indeed has talent, and he is quite afraid of Ethan Grant.
"Be obedient, and your brother will help you." Arthur Grant hoped for family harmony. "I’ll be going abroad in a few days, so don’t cause any trouble at home."
"Dad, I..." Jayden Grant wanted to bring up the issue of company shares and management rights with Arthur Grant but hesitated to speak.
Upstairs, Jayden Grant’s mother cast an unhappy glance at him, thinking when will he bring it up? Currently, Ethan Grant manages the company entirely, and in the future, there will be no place for their mother and son.
"Arthur, Jayden lacks actual power in the company, and even if capable, can’t make an impact; those old subordinates only recognize shares, so it’s tough for Jayden." Melody Crowe spoke with a smile, attentively serving Arthur Grant.
She married Arthur Grant as the mistress back then primarily for the shares of the Grant Group.
"The shares were directly willed to Ethan when the old man was around; unless he agrees, no one can do anything." Arthur Grant sighed.
"Arthur... you are the head of the house, Ethan has to listen to you. If you speak up, he will definitely give in. Ethan isn’t an unreasonable child." Melody Crowe set up Ethan Grant, implying that if Ethan Grant holds onto the shares without giving any to Jayden Grant, he’s being unreasonable.
Arthur Grant rubbed his forehead. "I’ll look for an opportunity to chat with him."
...
Demolition area.
Caden Summers was hit by Jayden Grant’s men with a stick, later discovered and sent to the hospital.
These days, reporting to the police didn’t help, as he couldn’t enter the residential area of Grant Villa.
"Uncle!"
While fixing a car, Caden Summers heard Summer’s voice, dropped the wrench on the ground, and ran over excitedly. "Summers!"
Yvette Aston smiled weakly at Caden Summers. "Brother... we’re fine."
Caden Summers’ eyes reddened, nodding. "Hungry, aren’t you? I’ll wash up and cook for you guys... It’s my incompetence, failing to protect you."
"Brother, don’t say that." Yvette Aston shook her head.
Caden Summers has done very well, taking care of Summers for five years for her.
He has educated Summers well.
Yvette Aston was very thankful.
"This face... what’s going on?" Caden Summers looked at Yvette Aston’s swollen cheek, feeling not just anger but a sense of powerlessness.
Jayden Grant was right; he knew nothing about this society where power always overrides everything.
How could he protect Summers, protect Yvette Aston?
"It’s nothing." Yvette Aston choked up, shook her head, and looked down at the floor.
"Let’s not talk about it... let’s just get cooking." Caden Summers hurried inside, washed up, and started cooking for them.
A simple bowl of scallion oil noodles made Yvette Aston feel very satisfied.
She hadn’t had a warm and filling meal in a very long time.
"Still hungry? There’s more in the pot." Caden Summers grinned and went to serve more noodles for Yvette Aston.
Yvette Aston ate another bowl, smiling at Caden Summers. "Brother, it’s really delicious."
"Uncle used to be a chef, very skilled," Summers complimented, handing the poached egg in her bowl to her mom.
"Summers should eat; Summers will grow tall," Yvette Aston returned it to Summers.
"Summers will eat, Mom has a big one here too." Caden Summers smiled and served Yvette Aston another bowl.
"Brother..." Yvette Aston choked up and spoke quietly, looking at the bowl of noodles. "Thank you."
"Silly talk, I’m your brother." Caden Summers waved his hand. "Summers, go get Uncle cloves of garlic."
Sending Summers away, Caden Summers asked quietly. "Still... don’t know who Summers’ father is?"
Yvette Aston shook her head; she wasn’t sure it was Chase Sinclair.
"Summers was premature, weak, with hemolytic anemia, which has a high possibility of hereditary causes. The doctor said both biological parents must cooperate in the checkup to identify the cause first." Caden Summers sighed.
Yvette Aston’s hand holding the chopsticks froze for a moment, she looked down and bit her lip. "I... will find a way."
She would go find Chase Sinclair.
