CHAPTER 24: CHAPTER 24: ETHAN GRANT SHIELDS YVETTE ASTON FROM THE CLUB ATTACKERS

Ethan furrowed his brows, watching Yvette’s back, feeling inexplicably stifled.

Instinctively he wanted to catch up with her, even he was taken aback.

Since when did he become so meddlesome?

"Mr. Grant! It’s bad, something happened... Miss Bell attempted suicide again! The Bell Family said you... you did that to her six years ago and still don’t want to take responsibility, Miss Bell couldn’t handle the secondary trauma..."

The assistant ran over in panic, looking nervously at Ethan. "The money you gave, and the compensation to the Bell Family, they returned it, obviously wanting you to take responsibility for their daughter."

Ethan rubbed his temples irritably, what trouble had he stirred!

"To the Bell Family." He said in a deep voice, pointing to Tom Ziegler. "Get her safely home, it’s not safe for her to walk at night alone."

The way Yvette looked going out, she’d surely run into trouble.

This area around the bar was full of drunkards.

Tom Ziegler unwillingly followed her out.

Sure enough, Yvette hadn’t even left the bar before someone was all over her.

"Hey beautiful, what’s wrong? Looking so disheveled? Tell me, and I’ll have your back."

"Don’t run, beautiful, alone are you?"

A few drunken men latched onto Yvette.

Yvette dodged several times, but couldn’t escape, there were too many of them.

The leader tried to touch Yvette’s face. "Looking pretty, let me take care of you."

"Don’t touch me..." Yvette retreated weakly, as if falling into boundless despair.

Sometimes she wondered if she committed some heinous crime, deserving such punishment?

Just because she stole someone else’s life, changed her fate.

"Get lost!"

Tom Ziegler rushed out, cursed at the leader.

The man was clearly drunk, and seeing Tom alone, signaled his companions to attack.

Tom was physically fit, a former sports student, now regularly hitting the gym, taking on a few drunkards was no problem.

Quickly dealing with them, Tom looked at Yvette with disgust. "You’re such trouble, always seducing men wherever you go, aren’t you? Looks like Jayden wasn’t wrong, you can’t live without men."

Yvette stood helplessly in place, opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

Gossip can destroy a woman to what extent, probably making everyone despise her.

"If I hadn’t come after you, were you planning to leave with those scumbags tonight? You aren’t picky? Ron Warren and Matthew Lawson both say they’ve slept with you, you’re quite famous in this circle."

Tom’s words were clearly angry, angry at himself for ever liking Yvette, thinking she was a pure jasmine blossom.

Who knew, how low she could be.

Yvette’s cracked lips moved slightly, offering no explanation.

She didn’t even know who those people Tom mentioned were, why would they say they slept with her?

In the past, when Yvette heard such sordid rumors, her first reaction was panic, defense, feeling wronged, then... slowly she got used to it.

Let them say whatever they want, she was already ruined, why care about a few more slanders?

With a powerless smile, Yvette just said thank you.

See, the method to destroy a woman is so simple, spread rumors everywhere, and with enough people saying them, they become facts.

Seeing Yvette not explaining, Tom grew more irritable, he really must have been blind before.

If he were to choose now, even touching Yvette a little would make him feel dirty.

"Hurry up and go." But Tom still planned to see Yvette home, in that seductive state of hers, she surely wouldn’t make it safely.

"Tom!" As she was about to leave, Yvette saw the people he’d hit take up sticks to sneak attack, instinctively pushed Tom aside.

Yvette couldn’t dodge in time and closed her eyes in panic.

These years, she’d gotten used to being beaten, even if hit really hurt, she wasn’t too scared, it was just muscle memory making her instinctively close her eyes and brace for the strike.

But after waiting a long time, Yvette felt no pain.

Breathing rapidly, opening her eyes, Yvette felt the person before her gave her an unprecedented sense of security.

Slowly lifting her head, Yvette’s eyes were timid and flickering.

Ethan held the man’s stick, looking down at Yvette.

She looked up into Ethan’s eyes, her gaze moist yet exceptionally bright.

Ethan froze for a moment, just looking at Yvette, those eyes really were beautiful...

Tom stood frozen to the side, after regaining his senses kicked the ambusher away and punched him hard. "You bastard, courting death."

Ethan’s assistant called security to handle it, shakily wiping Ethan’s hands with an alcohol wipe from the shock. "Mr. Grant, let’s go."

Ethan said nothing, just glanced at Yvette, handed her an alcohol wipe, and left straightforwardly.

Yvette stood in place, looked down at the wipe in her hand, dazed for a long time.

"Are... you okay?" Tom, startled by Yvette’s instinctive action, softened his tone.

Yvette shook her head, holding the wipe, and walked out of the bar.
