The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 26: Overt and Covert Struggles Between Brothers
CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: OVERT AND COVERT STRUGGLES BETWEEN BROTHERS
"Jayden Grant! You were once Yvette Aston’s fiancé too, don’t your conscience hurt treating her this way?" Caden Summers was seething with rage.
"Conscience? Your entire family of liars dares to talk about conscience? Where was her conscience when she got involved with a random man behind my back and gave birth to a bastard!" Jayden Grant warned Caden Summers. "Hand her over to me, or else..."
Awakening in a daze, Yvette Aston heard Jayden Grant’s voice and began to tremble.
Steeling herself with burning breaths, Yvette Aston looked at Jayden Grant. "I’ll go with you... leave my brother and Summers alone."
To Yvette Aston, Jayden Grant was nothing short of a madman capable of anything.
Last night he could let those people humiliate her in turns; today he’s capable of hurting Caden Summers and Summers.
"Yvette, you’re feverish, let’s go to the hospital." Caden Summers spoke tensely.
"Brother, I’m alright..." Yvette Aston shook her head, walked to Jayden Grant’s side, and got into the car directly.
Jayden Grant was very pleased with Yvette Aston’s behavior this time, even his gaze softened quite a bit.
He actually knew that he might have overdone it last night...
"Today, what method will you use to torment me?" Yvette Aston asked, her voice hoarse.
"Charlotte is temporarily out of the hospital and staying at the Grant Family home; you go look after her." Jayden Grant wanted Yvette Aston to atone to Charlotte Summers.
Yvette Aston’s headache was severe, her body scorching, powerlessly leaning against the car window.
She didn’t have the strength to resist.
"I will not stay there." Yvette Aston didn’t want to stay at the Grant Family home.
"Heard you’re looking for a job? Your little bastard currently doesn’t have a kindergarten willing to take him?" Jayden Grant glanced at Yvette Aston.
Yvette Aston tightened her fingers, took a deep breath. "What do you want..."
"Take good care of Charlotte, I’ll pay you, a monthly salary of ten thousand. As long as you perform well, I can help coordinate the schooling issue for that little bastard." Jayden Grant frowned.
He acknowledged his excesses last night, perhaps this was compensatory.
To Jayden Grant, ten thousand dollars was trivial, assisting in coordinating school was trivial.
But for Yvette Aston, a monthly ten thousand was a high-paying job.
"Work hours..." Yvette Aston wanted Jayden Grant to be clear.
Jayden Grant felt Yvette Aston was getting a bit too bold. "Must be at the Grant Family home by eight in the morning, taking care of Charlotte’s three meals a day, nine in the evening when Charlotte sleeps, you can leave. This is what you owe Charlotte, I’m giving you a chance to properly atone."
Yvette Aston inhaled deeply, stopped speaking.
In Jayden Grant’s view, Yvette Aston had stolen twenty years of a wealthy heiress life from Charlotte Summers, now being a maid/caretaker for her was only fitting.
Yvette Aston leaned drowsily against the window; as long as she endures until nine every night, she could clock out.
"Jayden Grant..." As she was about to get off the car, Yvette Aston’s voice was hoarse, nervously speaking. "Could you... pay in advance."
Summers’ schooling requires tuition, nowadays kindergarten fees are very high, an ordinary kindergarten, ten thousand is only two months’ tuition and living expenses.
A slightly better bilingual kindergarten would cost over ten thousand a month.
Jayden Grant frowned, his face somewhat displeased. "Yvette Aston, you’re shameless or not?"
Yvette Aston said nothing, knowing it was useless to plead with him.
"Change clothes quickly and take care of Miss Charlotte; I’m telling you, once inside our Grant Family home, behave with clean hands, no stealing." The maid threw the uniform to Yvette Aston, mocking her with the warning.
Yvette Aston lowered her head, saying nothing.
"Also, the young master is coming home today; you’d better keep quiet. If you provoke the young master, nobody will be able to help you."
The maid pointed at Yvette Aston’s head and said.
Yvette Aston instinctively took a step back, clutching a few cash bills fell from her pocket, mere tens she had earned from selling collected bottles, not yet enough to repay Ethan Grant.
Close to a thousand dollars now, not a small amount for Yvette Aston.
"My brother said he’s coming back?" Jayden Grant was surprised, with their father Arthur Grant not being home, why has Ethan Grant been coming back more frequently?
"Said... asked you to wait for him at home." The maid spoke softly.
Jayden Grant inexplicably felt anxious; Ethan Grant never actively called him, always having the maid notify him, but every time asked him to wait at home, it indicated he had messed up somewhere that Ethan Grant found out.
Grudgingly tightening his fingers, Jayden Grant irritably entered the study.
Recently at the company, he hadn’t made too blatant mistakes, what’s Ethan Grant looking for him for?
Was it due to Chase Sinclair’s matter? He hadn’t gone through Ethan Grant, directly connecting with President Jennings of Apex.
Jayden Grant felt suffocation; above Ethan Grant pressing him, he felt whatever he did, damn it, he had to be cautious.
Slammed the desk items onto the ground, Jayden Grant became increasingly agitated.
This Ethan Grant, does he intend to suppress him for a lifetime?
As long as Ethan Grant was there, he would never be able to hold his head high.
In the Grant Family, Ethan Grant was like a supreme deity, seemingly forever spotless, revered.
Jayden Grant refused to believe Ethan Grant would never make mistakes! Had better hope he doesn’t find a handle! One day, he would bring him down from the pedestal.
