The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 3: They Want Yvette Aston Dead
CHAPTER 3: CHAPTER 3: THEY WANT YVETTE ASTON DEAD
When the topic of that illegitimate child was brought up, Jayden Grant’s disgust deepened in his eyes, wishing for Yvette to die.
Years ago, Yvette spent a night at a hotel with another man, bringing immense shame to the Grant Family. Afterward, she was pregnant, and before going to prison, she gave birth to that illegitimate child.
Yvette looked at Jayden in despair, as if she never knew him. "The child, the child is innocent."
"Innocent? When Charlotte was swapped into your family to live a life of a lower class, she was innocent too." May Kendrick shouted, her voice sharp, smacking Yvette twice again.
If George Aston hadn’t pulled her away, she might have kept hitting to vent her anger.
With ringing ears, Yvette lowered her gaze, her cheeks swollen, allowing herself to be hit.
Twenty-one years of upbringing, this is what she owed.
Taking a deep breath, Yvette’s eyes reddened, she looked up at Jayden Grant, her voice powerless yet resolute. "I’ll donate..."
As long as they don’t hurt her child, she’s willing to do anything.
"You’re truly despicable." Seeing Yvette’s miserable and humble appearance, Jayden’s heart tightened, but he still didn’t let her go. "Take her for an examination, hand her over to the doctors, let her sign the paperwork."
"Don’t touch me..." Yvette’s voice trembled, yet lacked the fear and pleading from before. She slowly stood up, miserable yet her gaze fixed firmly on George Aston. "You are very aware of my condition... I’ll donate one kidney, and what I owe you, it will be repaid. From then on, please call it quits and let me go."
She has congenital heart disease, been weak since childhood, nearly lost her life five years ago giving birth, and now the Aston Family, knowing her condition, still demanded she donate a kidney, essentially wanting her life.
George Aston furrowed his brows, a trace of emotion flickered in his eyes.
After all, she had been raised for twenty-one years.
Yvette indeed was well-behaved and sensible in the Aston Family.
"You must continue to repent, even in death!" Yet May Kendrick refused to let her go.
"Enough," George Aston sighed. "As long as you agree to donate a kidney, five years in prison was enough punishment for you, from now on, be a good person, the Aston Family will no longer trouble you."
Yvette smiled, her hands powerless.
Be a good person...
In her current condition, she might not survive the surgery.
"Donating one kidney can make up for your mistakes? What Charlotte lost because of you was twenty-one years of life and half her existence!" Yet despite everything, Jayden Grant seemed dissatisfied, like he desired to grind her bones to dust.
All those who once loved her, now belonged to Charlotte Summers, wasn’t that enough? What more do they want for her repentance? What did she do wrong?
"Jayden Grant..." Yvette powerlessly spoke, suddenly laughed. "If you hate me so much, then when I die, scatter my ashes."
Yvette’s lips pale, extremely disheveled. "Don’t harm my child."
Jayden Grant’s eyes darkened, even at this moment, still protecting that illegitimate child!
"Do you think we don’t dare?" Stellan Aston answered for Jayden, looking at Yvette sarcastically. "You have malice in your bones, inherited your mother’s lowliness! That illegitimate child should die, bringing shame!"
Yvette said nothing, darkness filled her vision, she hadn’t left the hospital room and collapsed to the ground, fainted.
"Yvette!"
Before losing consciousness, Yvette seemed to hear someone calling her Yvette.
Was it Jayden Grant? How ironic...
"Don’t bother with her! She’s just acting! I told you, she’ll agree verbally, but five years in prison didn’t teach her anything." Stellan Aston angrily stated, heading to the bathroom to fetch a basin of cold water, intending to wake Yvette.
Yvette wanted to open her eyes but was too weak.
She knew very well why Stellan was so agitated, afraid he’d find out she had congenital heart disease, and donating a kidney wouldn’t let her live.
"Stellan..." Just as Stellan was about to pour, Jayden Grant held his wrist. "Enough... that’s enough."
"Jayden Grant, feeling sorry?" Stellan sarcastically looked at Jayden. "Don’t forget your status, you’re now Charlotte’s fiancé, my sister got into an accident because of you!"
Jayden Grant paused for a moment, slowly released Stellan’s wrist.
That basin of cold water, ultimately, was all poured onto Yvette’s face.
