The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 31: Didn’t Your Mother Teach You What Manners Are?
CHAPTER 31: CHAPTER 31: DIDN’T YOUR MOTHER TEACH YOU WHAT MANNERS ARE?
After all these years, no one has ever spoken a fair word for her, not even half a sentence.
No matter how she struggled, how she shouted, how she resisted, it was useless, and no one would listen.
She was like a fallen and withered flower trampled into the mud, long past the strength to struggle.
But Ethan’s words strangely revived her long-dead heart for a moment.
"Brother... No, it wasn’t, it wasn’t like that. Back then, she hadn’t conspired with her mother, May Larson. It was later, later when she and May teamed up to try to cheat my family’s money." Charlotte stammered under Ethan’s unnerving gaze.
Ethan’s aura was overwhelming.
Ethan ignored Charlotte and walked straight to Yvette Aston. "Aunt Warren isn’t here. I had her send me a glass of water. Is there a problem?"
Jayden looked at Ethan in astonishment. The words weren’t the issue, but Ethan himself explaining this matter for Yvette was a problem.
It wasn’t Ethan’s style at all.
How could he explain on behalf of a woman, especially a woman like Yvette?
This made Jayden’s jealousy even more intense.
"As a man, hitting a woman, Jayden, you really are something." Ethan looked at Yvette’s pale, swollen face with five distinct finger marks and inexplicably felt infuriated.
Jayden clenched his fists, unwilling to admit he hit Yvette.
Ethan’s face darkened, and he spoke in a low, oppressive tone. "Apologize!"
Jayden was shocked, staring at Ethan. Why should he apologize...
"This kind of woman is just cheap. I..."
"Bang!" Before Jayden could finish, Ethan punched him.
Jayden staggered, stepping back several paces.
"Jayden!" Charlotte ran over in shock, supporting Jayden.
Jayden glared coldly at Ethan; he did it on purpose, definitely on purpose!
Ethan usually wouldn’t interfere in others’ affairs, but today he deliberately used this matter with Yvette to retaliate against him, just because he secretly contacted President Jennings. It was a warning not to stir trouble in the company.
Stifling himself for a long time, Jayden took a deep breath. "Brother... I know I’m wrong."
Ethan frowned at Jayden, wondering how the Grant Family raised someone so ill-mannered. "Is that supposed to be said to me?"
"I... apologize!" Jayden felt Ethan was humiliating him, gnashing his teeth as he said sorry to Yvette.
Yvette sat bewildered on the ground; this feeling of having someone back her up could be addicting.
So, Ethan shouldn’t be involved in her affairs.
Slowly rising, Yvette covered her cheek and turned away.
She was too frail, her figure thin, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.
Ethan glanced at Yvette and coldly questioned Jayden. "Didn’t your mother ever teach you manners?"
Jayden gritted his teeth; Ethan wanted not just to humiliate him but his mother as well.
He knew Ethan always looked down on their mother and son because his mom wasn’t from a prestigious family but climbed her way up as the mistress.
Since childhood, Ethan had never regarded him.
"Don’t go to the company for the time being; stay home and reflect!" Ethan warned and left directly.
This house, he didn’t want to stay here one moment more.
From the moment Jayden’s mother arrived pregnant at this house, it wasn’t Ethan’s home anymore.
After Ethan left, Jayden went berserk, starting to smash things in the room.
"Ethan, Ethan! What is he, to boss me around?"
"Jayden..." Charlotte fearfully hugged him.
"Someday, I’ll have him under my feet; the Grant Family’s business and company will be mine. On that day, let’s see how Ethan can still be arrogant!"
Jayden’s fury was heavy.
"It’s all Yvette’s fault; she’s deliberate, purposely drawing close to Ethan to turn brothers against each other, not letting our Aston Family and the Grant Family coexist peacefully. She’s too insidious. She knows only Ethan in Meridia can help her, so she’s intentionally retaliating."
Charlotte cried. "Jayden, do you think if Big Brother always protects Yvette, she won’t donate a kidney to me?"
"She dares!" Jayden was utterly provoked. "Ethan wouldn’t even consider a woman like her!"
In Jayden’s opinion, Ethan was just making a fuss.
As for Yvette, she was indeed scheming as usual, good at pretending.
If that’s the case, he definitely wouldn’t let her off tomorrow.
"Jayden, make her marry the housekeeper’s son as soon as possible; that way, it’ll end all issues once and for all." Charlotte seized the chance to advise.
Jayden nodded in agreement. "You’re right."
...
By the roadside.
Yvette didn’t dare to go home tonight; the palm print on her face hadn’t faded.
Walking slowly, her ankle still in sharp pain.
"Get in."
A black sedan stopped by the road, and the speaker was Ethan.
