CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 34: DOES ETHAN WANT TO KEEP YVETTE ASTON AS A MISTRESS?

Yvette ran out of the hospital and checked the time while heading in the direction of the Grant Family.

She couldn’t be late; she really needed this ten thousand yuan to solve Summers’ schooling problem.

After a few steps, Yvette felt a sharp pain in her heart.

Stopping, she leaned against the wall and gasped for breath for a long time before continuing to run.

She still needed to find the man who had forced her in a hotel six years ago before she died.

He was Summers’ biological father, and Yvette needed his cooperation for tests.

In a black car on the side of the road near the hospital, Ethan Grant saw Yvette running frantically with a food box, frowning. "Did you find out what I asked you to investigate?"

"Mr. Grant... Yvette voluntarily went to the Grant Family to take care of Charlotte Summers. I heard it was for the ten thousand yuan monthly salary and her son’s kindergarten spot," Christopher Carter said reluctantly, clearly not wanting Ethan to get involved.

"Mr. Grant, this woman is shrewd, there’s no need for you to bother with her." Christopher glanced at the time. "It’s time to go to the Bell Family; you promised Mr. Bell you would visit Miss Bell before going to the office every day."

Ethan didn’t speak and rubbed his temples.

"If you’re really not interested in this Miss Bell, why not choose a reputable and well-bred young lady to get engaged to, fulfill the old man’s dream, and also rid yourself of the Bell Family?" Christopher suggested to Mr. Grant.

Ethan rarely told Christopher to shut up, continuing to rub his temples.

If he had a woman by his side, would Wendy Bell let go and back off?

He had already given all the compensation he could to the Bell Family, everything except marriage.

But the Bell Family just wanted their daughter to marry him.

The phone rang, and Ethan glanced at it. It was Arthur Grant.

His expression darkened, and Ethan let the phone ring for a long time before answering. "Father."

"Ethan, the Bell Family contacted me. What’s going on with you and the Bell’s eldest daughter, Wendy Bell? The Bell Family is interested in an alliance, think about it carefully, don’t let rumors detrimental to the Grant Family spread."

Arthur cared not about his son but the reputation of the Grant Family.

Ethan listened to the call indifferently. "I’ll handle it."

"Ethan, you’re at the age to marry. Your brother is already engaged. What are you waiting for?"

"No rush." Ethan remained indifferent.

"Ethan, I’ll admit I haven’t been attentive enough to you over the years, but you’ve been sensible from a young age; don’t disappoint me on this matter."

Ethan sneered, feeling it was ironic. "Mm."

No matter how much Arthur said, Ethan always responded with indifferent detachment, making Arthur feel more distant from his son.

Arthur knew that Ethan was always resentful because of his mother’s issues, but so many years had passed—why couldn’t he let it go?

"Ethan, your mother..."

Upon hearing Arthur mention his mother, Ethan abruptly hung up the phone and tossed it aside irritably.

"Investigate Yvette properly, find out who her son’s father is." He needed a woman as a shield now, and the first one that came to mind was Yvette.

Since they both had their own agendas, they could take what they needed from each other, avoiding future troubles.

"Mr. Grant... Are you going to play stepfather?" Christopher couldn’t suppress his shock.

"Shut up." Ethan wanted to replace Christopher but couldn’t; Christopher was a distant cousin and had been recommended by Ethan’s grandfather years ago, following him for many years.

"Mr. Grant, everyone in Meridia knows Yvette’s private life is chaotic. Even she doesn’t know who the child’s father is. Where am I supposed to find out?" Christopher mumbled softly, wondering why Ethan would choose Yvette.

But on second thought, Yvette, with no family background and having been cast out by both the Aston Family and the Grant Family, was easy to control and wouldn’t cause trouble in the future.

"Don’t form opinions of someone based on hearsay." From his instincts, Ethan felt Yvette wasn’t such a person. "I just need a shield, not to do anything substantive."

"Sure, Mr. Grant, but I still think it’s inappropriate. Her reputation is poor and could cause you trouble."

"Shut up." Ethan held back his anger.

"Alright..." Christopher shut his mouth again.

After less than two minutes, Christopher spoke again. "Mr. Grant... You’re only using her to fend off Miss Bell, right? So all you need is for Miss Bell to see, there’s no need for everyone to know, right?"

Ethan acquiesced.

Christopher got the hint and began thinking about a confidentiality agreement.

The bigwigs in Meridia often kept young celebrities or models, and some liked to keep a few college students; their Mr. Grant had kept himself clean for so long, it was his first time wanting to ’keep’ someone, a bit exciting indeed.

Though, this Yvette... really wasn’t someone who could be presented on a grand stage.

But it was rare to find a woman who didn’t trigger Ethan’s ailments. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Ethan’s germophobia was so severe that as long as it was someone he didn’t like, if they got close or touched him, he’d have a skin allergy.

Regarding Yvette, though Ethan had never met or interacted with her before, his body seemed not to be on guard at all.
