CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 60: ETHAN GRANT SEARCHED FOR YVETTE ASTON ALL NIGHT

Henry Jennings slowly opened his eyes, his gaze deep and intense. "Is Ethan Grant going to meddle in Jayden’s affairs?"

Henry Jennings didn’t see Ethan Grant as the kind of man who would interfere in his brother’s matters.

Ben Ziegler looked worried; the Grant Family in Meridia and the Aston Family were already intent on eliminating Yvette Aston. "President Jennings, the Grant Family and Aston Family have gone too far with Miss Aston. Are you sure you want to get involved in this trouble?"

"Ha..." Henry Jennings sneered. "What can the Grant Family and Aston Family do about the woman I want to protect? Besides, Ethan Grant isn’t someone who meddles in other people’s business."

"But Mr. Grant is still looking for her," Ben Ziegler didn’t know how to handle the situation.

"Let him keep looking." Henry Jennings ended the call abruptly.

Throwing the phone aside, Henry Jennings got up and walked to the guest room door.

His raised hand froze for a moment, and Henry Jennings rubbed his temples, entering his own bedroom.

Let her have a good night’s sleep.

...

The next morning, Yvette Aston got up early. She had just started her job, and it was the early shift this week, so she had to arrive early for the handover.

Looking through the fridge, Yvette Aston discovered that Henry Jennings’ house really lacked any semblance of domestic life. Aside from a few eggs, there was nothing else to find.

It was clear that Henry Jennings neither hired a housekeeper nor cooked at home himself.

Running out of the community, Yvette Aston used Henry Jennings’ card to carefully select groceries at the supermarket. The prices at the supermarket near these upscale neighborhoods were ridiculously high; a single cabbage was actually sixty-eight yuan.

Hunching her head as she paid, Yvette Aston consoled herself, thinking it wasn’t her money being spent.

After buying the groceries, Yvette prepared breakfast and placed it on the dining table.

"Ding dong."

The doorbell rang.

Woken up by the noise, Henry Jennings walked out with some displeasure, wearing a robe, lazily and rebelliously leaning against the door. "Who?"

Seeing that Yvette had made breakfast, Henry Jennings’ eyes lit up with a moment of surprise.

On second thought, the thought that the eldest daughter of the Aston Family, who once hadn’t even lifted a finger, could make breakfast now.

It seemed the food smelled quite appetizing.

Henry Jennings, who never ate breakfast at home, suddenly felt a stirring of appetite.

At the door.

Yvette opened the door, looked up, and instantly froze.

Stunned and speechless, her throat seemed to be blocked.

Ethan Grant...

What was he doing in Montville?

Ethan Grant’s demeanor was low, his face dark, looking slightly weary, as if he hadn’t slept all night.

Panic-stricken, Yvette instinctively turned to run.

She feared Ethan was in cahoots with the Grant Family, here to catch her.

"Why are you running!" Ethan Grant frowned, grabbing Yvette’s wrist.

Pale and trembling all over, Yvette was terrified.

She couldn’t go back, couldn’t be taken back to Meridia.

She would die.

"Mr. Grant, what a surprise to see you so early in the morning." Henry Jennings leaned against the dining table, half-smiling. "You’ve even found your way to my home?"

Ethan Grant’s expression was grim. "Her, I’m taking her away."

"Mr. Grant, coming to my house first thing in the morning to take away my woman, isn’t that inappropriate?" Henry Jennings walked over, pulling Yvette into his embrace.

Still trembling, Yvette dared not meet Ethan’s eyes.

She feared seeing the disappointment in Ethan Grant’s eyes.

In the end... she still chose this path.

Being someone’s mistress? Or... selling her body and soul.

But she had no other way; Henry Jennings was Summers’ father.

The look in Ethan Grant’s eyes as he gazed at Yvette was indeed filled with disappointment. He never thought she would choose this path.

"I’ve handled Summers’ school arrangements, and I will resolve the issues with the Grant and Aston families for you. Think it over carefully." Ethan was no fool; if Henry brought a woman home, it meant something.

Henry Jennings frowned; would Ethan really be so considerate to help Yvette Aston?

But in Henry’s view, someone like Ethan was a cold-hearted creature, not easily moved by emotions.

Yvette said nothing, almost burying her head in her chest.

"Mr. Grant hasn’t had breakfast yet, right? Yvette made it, would you like to try some?" Henry Jennings smiled, holding Yvette tightly as he spoke.

Yvette’s body was rigid, her eyes turning red.

Involuntarily, Ethan glanced toward the dining table. Even from a distance, he could already smell the fragrance.

For reasons unknown, he suddenly had an urge to taste Yvette’s cooking.

Henry’s meaningful smile deepened, suddenly feeling a sense of crisis.

If it were Jayden... he wouldn’t be concerned.

But Ethan, that’s different.

"No, thank you." Ethan said with a deep voice, casting one last glance at Yvette, as if offering her a final chance.

Yvette kept her head down, remaining silent.

"Have a good day; I’ll host tonight and have an assistant contact you beforehand." Henry Jennings watched Ethan leave.

Ethan Grant’s face was unpleasant, his eyes somewhat conflicted.

Moments ago, he actually felt an impulse to take Yvette away from Henry...

He wanted to know what terms Henry offered Yvette; he could double it.

But as the words reached his lips, reason ultimately prevailed.

Why should he, for a woman who fell from grace...

Rubbing his temples, Ethan spoke in a deep voice. "Investigate the relationship between Henry Jennings and Yvette Aston."

Henry wouldn’t have brought someone home just from a glance; everyone knew that Henry never brought women home.

Christopher Carter looked at Ethan in shock. "Yvette... involved with President Jennings?"

Running to Montville to cling to someone powerful. "This Yvette is really clever; knowing you aren’t interested in women, she runs to Montville. Indeed, aside from you, Henry Jennings is the only one who can protect her. Staying in Montville, neither Jayden nor the Aston Family can touch her."

Ethan cast a dark look at Christopher. "You can shut up now."

...

The living room.

After Ethan Grant left, Yvette stood silently in place, refusing to lift her head.

"I couldn’t tell... you have quite the skills, Jayden is your fiancé, yet you even ensnare his brother?" Henry Jennings raised a hand to grip Yvette’s chin.

He spoke harshly, a bit out of jealousy.

But the moment he lifted Yvette’s chin, Henry regretted it.

Because Yvette started crying.

Tears streamed down her face, her eyes red and swollen.

"Why are you crying?" Henry frowned.

Was it because Ethan misunderstood her, or because Ethan was disappointed in her?

"Are you interested in Ethan Grant?" Henry grew increasingly irritated.

Yvette shook her head.

She wasn’t worthy...

"The breakfast... it’s getting cold." Yvette pointed at the dining table, glanced at the time, and turned to run.

"Where are you going? Sit down and eat." Henry wanted Yvette to have breakfast before leaving.

"I have work; I’ll be late." Yvette spoke nervously.

"Take the phone." Henry pointed at the phone on the table.

Yvette paused, finally realizing Henry had bought her a phone.

Picking it up and glancing at it, Yvette turned to Henry. "Thank you..."

Henry’s fingers tightened slowly around the chopsticks.

After Yvette ran out the door, Henry irritably threw the chopsticks aside.

What exactly was he doing?

...

The Nightfall Club.

Work during the day wasn’t busy, mainly dealing with checkout for guests leaving private rooms or upstairs hotel rooms.

Summers also came, smiling at Yvette. "Yvette, did you get new clothes?"

Yvette paused, lowering her head to look at her dress. It was a gift from Henry Jennings.

"This dress wasn’t cheap, right?"

Yvette nodded lightly.

"Yvette," Holly Ziegler rushed in, dragging Yvette to the restroom. "What’s your relationship with Ethan Grant? He’s a big CEO! The richest man! He dragged me around Montville all night looking for you, afraid something might happen... he seems quite concerned about you."
