CHAPTER 61: CHAPTER 61: HENRY JENNINGS AND SUMMERS TAKE A PATERNITY TEST

Yvette paused for a moment, her gaze flickering.

Ethan... had he been looking for her all night?

"No... it doesn’t matter, he’s Jayden’s brother." Yvette instinctively averted her gaze.

"He seems different from Jayden, it looks like he truly cares for you. Otherwise, why would a big executive personally look for you in the middle of the night? If he wanted to catch you, he wouldn’t need to do it himself." Holly shook her head, sensing no malice from Ethan towards Yvette.

"Holly, is there any mail for me at home?" Yvette changed the topic.

Holly could see that Yvette didn’t want to talk more. She took a small bag out of her purse. "Here, your brother sent it."

Yvette glanced at it and sighed with relief. "Thank you."

"Yvette, since you’ve decided to start over, don’t get trapped by the past. I once thought I couldn’t move on, but once you do, it’s alright." Holly advised Yvette.

Yvette nodded, clutching the item in her hand. It was Summers’ hair with follicles. She wanted Henry to do a paternity test with Summers as soon as possible.

She had to confirm... Henry’s identity.

"Your clothes..." Holly immediately noticed something odd about Yvette’s outfit. It was from a high-end custom brand that most people couldn’t afford. A single piece could cost tens of thousands.

"President Jennings?" Holly guessed, looking at Yvette in shock and pulling her into the bathroom. "Yvette, think carefully. Henry and Ethan are not the kind of men we can handle. Do you know Henry has never been without women these years, and he..."

"He might be my son’s father." Yvette said softly.

Holly gasped, biting her lip as she thought for a moment. "Henry has a woman named Lynn Chase, a celebrity not to be trifled with. Be careful, there’s no wall that doesn’t leak."

Holly was worried Lynn might retaliate against Yvette.

"However, Lynn isn’t the main issue. Have you heard that the Jennings Family and the Bell Family from Meridia might be arranged to marry? The Bell Family has been promoting it for a long time, it looks like a done deal." Holly felt pity for Yvette’s misfortune.

She couldn’t believe these wealthy individuals genuinely liked Yvette.

A woman who had been in prison and had a child wasn’t even prioritized as a plaything for these tycoons.

Yvette looked at Holly blankly. "Bell Family?"

Mentioning the Bell Family made Yvette almost instinctively start trembling.

Claudia Bell was the one who led the bullying against her back then, and after her identity as a fake heiress was exposed, she publicly humiliated and tortured her the most viciously.

"Yvette?"

From outside the bathroom came the voice of Xiaoya.

Yvette composed herself and nervously walked out.

"President Jennings... is here to see you."

Yvette felt a tightness in her chest and lowered her head, walking towards the reception desk.

When Henry arrived at the club, the managers almost sprinted over, desperate to give him enough face.

"President Jennings, you’re...?" The manager asked, curious if there was a plan for this time of day.

Henry didn’t respond to the manager, but glanced at Yvette, handing her the breakfast in his hand. "Make sure to eat."

Everyone looked at Yvette in shock, including Yvette herself.

It was clear that Henry had done this on purpose.

Everyone looked at Henry in confusion, wondering why their president would deliver breakfast to a receptionist so early in the morning.

Over the years, Henry had been involved in many scandals. The only one he’d been with the longest was the star Lynn Chase, but even so, he’d never visited her set, let alone brought her food.

With Yvette’s status—uneducated and a receptionist—wouldn’t it be better to stay low-key, to hide her away? Why did Henry seem so unashamed?

Holly, standing nearby, gave Yvette a worried glance.

Being thrust into the spotlight like that was clearly not a good thing.

"Yvette..."

After giving Yvette breakfast, Henry left. Holly pulled Yvette aside under the bewildered gazes of others. "What are you thinking?"

Yvette didn’t say anything.

Henry’s actions had exposed her position, pushing her to a precarious peak.

There was no retreat behind her; the only path forward was to cling tightly to Henry.

"He’s forcing me." Of course Yvette understood what Henry wanted.

By cornering her, he wanted her to realize he was the only one who could be her support and reliance.

Holly sighed, giving Yvette a hug. "These rich men, they’re truly not good people, each one of them..."

"Yvette, you and President Jennings..." The manager came over with a fawning smile to ask.

Even Xiaoya looked at Yvette in shock.

Yvette didn’t know how to explain and kept her head down, silent.

"Yvette and President Jennings knew each other before." Holly made up an explanation. "President Jennings’ interest will only last so long."

The manager nodded. "Even so, for President Jennings to take an interest in Yvette is fortunate for her and our club."

It was obvious the manager wanted Yvette to speak favorably.

Yvette said nothing, standing at the reception with her head lowered.

Not long after Henry left, Ben Ziegler arrived to bring Yvette for a medical checkup, approved by the manager.

"Miss Aston, I’m sorry... but this is standard procedure." Ben was somewhat embarrassed. The medical checkup seemed disrespectful, but President Jennings followed this process with all his young starlets and he couldn’t say much.

"It’s okay." Yvette shook her head.

"The checkup results will be out soon. I’ll take you to see President Jennings at the company." Ben thought Henry seemed a bit rushed, eager to keep Yvette by his side.

"Alright..." Yvette agreed.

She needed Henry to do the paternity test with Summers soon.

After leaving the checkup center, Ben handed Yvette a bottle of mineral water.

Yvette took it and thanked him.

"Miss Aston... there’s something I shouldn’t say, but I think you should prepare yourself. President Jennings... isn’t going to marry you."

Ben had been with Henry for six years and knew him too well.

Henry separated marriage from emotion too clearly. He wouldn’t marry early, and if he did, it would certainly be a transaction.

Yvette obviously didn’t meet the criteria.

Ben spoke tactfully, hoping Yvette would understand and not invest emotionally, or she would suffer greatly.

Yvette nodded and went with Ben to Apex after receiving her medical report.

"President Jennings, Miss Aston is here."

Henry stood up, giving Yvette a look. "Did you have breakfast?"

Yvette nodded.

"Check the contract." Henry gestured for Yvette to review it.

Yvette shook her head. "No need..."

She didn’t care about the content of the contract.

Taking Summers’ hair from her pocket, Yvette looked at Henry. "I need... the paternity test result."

Then Yvette placed the medical report on the table. "Aside from that one night, no man... has touched me, so..."

Yvette kept her head down, her face flushed deeply.

But it wasn’t from shyness or embarrassment.

"So, if that night was you, please let me know the result quickly..." She didn’t need Henry to take responsibility, just to cooperate with the medical examination, he didn’t need to handle anything else.

Summers was an accident, but he was innocent.

Henry accepted Summers’ hair, sitting on the couch. "If I’m not Summers’ biological father, what will you do?"

Yvette looked up at Henry. "Keep looking..."

Henry’s face darkened slightly. Yvette’s concession was entirely for the child’s sake, as if she were negotiating a business deal with him.
