The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 62: Ethan Grant Competes with Henry Jennings for Her
CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 62: ETHAN GRANT COMPETES WITH HENRY JENNINGS FOR HER
"Send it for a paternity test, make it urgent." Henry Jennings handed the hair to Ben Ziegler.
Ben Ziegler looked at Yvette Aston with a complicated expression, sighed, and left straight away.
The Nightfall Club.
Yvette Aston returned to work, and it wasn’t long before Ben Ziegler arrived.
He held the report from a professional testing agency.
"So... fast?" Yvette Aston looked at Ben Ziegler in shock, feeling a bit nervous.
Ben Ziegler nodded. "Yes, the result came out in three hours."
Yvette’s fingers tingled slightly as she reached out to take the report.
Feeling a mix of emotions, Yvette wasn’t sure what kind of result she actually wanted.
She opened the sealed bag, took a deep breath, and pulled out the report, her breathing starting to tremble.
"Actually, deep down, President Jennings knows whether the child is his or not." Ben Ziegler whispered.
Yvette Aston raised her hand to cover her mouth, biting down hard on her fingers.
The report confirmed that Henry Jennings was Summers’s biological father.
"It’s him..." Yvette choked out.
Ben Ziegler nodded. "Miss Aston, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving."
Yvette clutched the report tightly, curling up in the corner, trembling for a long time.
The man from that night was truly Henry Jennings.
That’s right, six years ago, Henry Jennings was adamant about having her.
Ha...
But Yvette couldn’t bring herself to feel happy.
She had spent five years in prison.
On the day of the trial, Henry Jennings was there.
He knew everything yet still despicably wanted to see her beg for mercy.
Yvette didn’t believe this obsessive possessiveness was love.
"Did you get the test results?" Henry Jennings called Yvette.
Yvette answered. "Yes..."
"Over there with Summers, I’ve already arranged for experts to consult, and Caden has been notified. He took the child over; Summers’s condition isn’t serious, and they are still discussing the best treatment plan," Henry Jennings’s voice was lazy.
"Thank you."
"After the business dinner ends, should I take you back to Meridia to bring the child over?" Henry asked.
"No need... He’s fine with his uncle," Yvette refused.
It’s only three years; she couldn’t rely on anyone.
Otherwise, when Henry Jennings no longer wanted her, she wouldn’t be able to live independently.
"Yvette... accompany me to a dinner tonight." Henry Jennings wasn’t asking for Yvette’s agreement.
It was a command.
"Okay." Yvette had no right to refuse.
After hanging up, Yvette’s fingers trembled as she tore the paternity test report to shreds.
Her fingers bled from her own biting, and the pain made her whole body shake.
Her wrist still bore the scars from her prison suicide attempts. Many times, she wanted to end it all.
These people simply didn’t understand the gravity of the harm they caused her.
"Don’t touch me, I beg you..."
"Let me go..."
That night, no matter how much she pleaded, it was useless.
Just like in prison, where she was bullied, no matter how she cried, the guards wouldn’t intervene.
Until she attempted suicide and lay covered in blood beside the toilet, did they finally send her to the hospital.
...
Meridia, Grant Family.
"Young master, that child is hard to trick, and Caden shields him tightly. Several people were sent, but none succeeded," the assistant said with difficulty.
Jayden Grant tossed the materials aside. "A bunch of people can’t deal with one child?"
"That kid is clever, always holding onto a broken phone and threatening to call the cops. The police, hearing it’s a child, take extra care, patrolling the area almost daily," the assistant complained. They tried to trick Summers, but the moment he saw the conmen, he called the police to catch the traffickers, causing their people to flee three streets to escape the police.
"And the kid has an exceptional memory; just one look is enough to remember, helping the police catch our people." The assistant felt overwhelmed, having been outwitted by a child.
"The kid’s missing out by not joining the army; his counter-surveillance skills are too strong."
The assistant continued to rant.
Jayden Grant’s expression darkened. "Still haven’t found Yvette?"
He intended to use the child to make Yvette obediently return, but the little bastard was too smart for that.
The assistant received a call and quickly rushed over. "Young master, we’ve found Yvette."
Jayden Grant stood up abruptly. "Where is she?"
"In Montville."
"Ha... she thinks by going to Montville, I can’t do anything to her?" Jayden Grant sneered.
"Young master... Yvette is currently at The Nightfall Club. It’s said that she’s with President Jennings... President Jennings even personally delivered breakfast to her."
The assistant cautiously said, knowing these words would likely set Jayden Grant off.
Sure enough, Jayden Grant’s anger was hard to contain. "What did you say? Who?"
"Henry Jennings... President Jennings, from Apex," the assistant nervously replied.
Jayden Grant pushed the assistant aside, taking a deep breath. "Ha... Yvette, you’ve got some skills! Alright, very good, you’ve found a backer, you’re really something!"
Henry Jennings had been interested in Yvette six years ago; Jayden Grant was fully aware of this.
He just didn’t expect Yvette to be so disgraceful, sinking this low to seek out Henry Jennings after her release.
"Does she think with Henry Jennings around, I can’t touch her?" Jayden Grant’s voice was low. "Isn’t The Nightfall Club the venue for this business banquet?"
"Yes," the assistant quickly nodded.
"I remember hearing something about a potential alliance between the Jennings Family and the Bell Family’s second daughter, Claudia Bell. Claudia Bell’s been boasting about it, looking down on everyone. Go tell Claudia Bell that her future husband is currently sharing a bed with Yvette," Jayden Grant’s eyes were deep, his veins bulging.
Who could say for sure that Yvette and Henry Jennings hadn’t been consorting six years ago!
He had been so good to Yvette, cherishing her like a treasure, and this is how she repaid him!
...
Montville, Hotel.
"Mr. Grant, we’ve found out... today, Henry Jennings’s assistant urgently sent a sample to the testing center for a paternity test. Yvette’s rumored man from back then has never been exposed, which means one of two things: either Yvette didn’t dare say, or Yvette doesn’t know."
The possibility of Yvette not knowing the man was minimal, leaving only the other option that the man was someone of high status, not someone she could provoke.
"Summers is Henry Jennings’s son?" Ethan Grant frowned, looking displeased.
"Looks like it..." Christopher Carter shrugged. "This is explosive news, President of Apex cuckolding the young master Grant of the Grant Family? Does this mean you have a vendetta?"
"..." Ethan Grant rubbed his brow. "Shut up."
Christopher Carter clapped a hand over his mouth, mumbling. "Mr. Grant, why do we even care about her? Yvette is a smart woman; Henry Jennings is generous with women, she won’t suffer."
Ethan Grant frowned. "If the child is indeed Henry Jennings’s, why was she sentenced to five years for extortion? What was Henry Jennings doing back then?"
"I checked; President Jennings was present at the trial." Christopher Carter didn’t understand what Ethan Grant implied.
"Then back then, Yvette wasn’t willing." Ethan Grant stood up, his expression somber. "Henry Jennings is unworthy."
Ethan Grant walked out, his aura tense.
Henry Jennings could let Yvette and Summers suffer for so many years and just watch coldly, what does this show? The games of someone high up, waiting to grind down Yvette’s edges, waiting for her to obediently come begging to him.
"Mr. Grant, where are you going?" Christopher Carter asked, bewildered, chasing after him.
"To The Nightfall Club." Ethan Grant’s voice was low.
Christopher Carter shivered, chasing after him. "Mr. Grant... are you going to fight President Jennings over someone?"
