CHAPTER 9: CHAPTER 9: ETHAN GRANT FOUND THAT WOMAN

"Mr. Grant, that woman has been found." Christopher had just answered a call, and he turned back excitedly to look at Ethan Grant. "Dylan Fischer confessed!"

Ethan Grant sneered, his mouth was really stubborn. "Who?"

"It’s the eldest daughter of the Bell Family, Wendy Bell." Christopher was also shocked. The eldest daughter of the Bell Family had depression; it’s said she attempted suicide six years ago.

"I remember now! Among the people who checked into the hotel that night, Wendy Bell’s name was on the list, but she stayed on another floor, so I didn’t think much of it at the time. Dylan Fischer said he initially found another woman, but when he saw the eldest daughter of the Bell Family enter the wrong room, he went with it."

Christopher slapped his forehead; how did he not think of that? "Miss Wendy attempted suicide due to depression six years ago, right after that banquet."

Ethan Grant frowned. "Turn around and head to the Bell Family’s place."

...

Grant Villa.

Jayden Grant looked at Yvette Aston with disgust, seemingly not expecting her to become this way.

"I really never truly knew you," Jayden Grant felt like he had been blind in the past, to have considered Yvette Aston as pure and kind. "Even using a child, what? Knowing my status in the Grant Family isn’t as high as my brother’s, you thought of seducing my brother?"

Yvette bit her lip and shook her head, no... she didn’t.

Hiding Summers behind her, Yvette’s eyes reddened as she pleaded. "Jayden Grant... I didn’t."

"Yvette, look at yourself now, for money and goals, is there any man you wouldn’t go for?" Jayden Grant pinched Yvette’s chin and pulled her to the mirror.

Yvette shut her eyes in fear; for years... in prison, what she feared most was looking in the mirror.

Once, she too was The Aston Family’s cherished gem.

But in prison, she stood out from the other inmates, simply because she was too fair-skinned, her supple skin like it could burst with water at a touch. Those people would shame her in the showers, beat her... force her to look at her own disheveled reflection in the mirror.

She was terrified, begging and crying, but it was useless.

No one would save her.

She had been abandoned by the entire world.

"Yvette, you’re really cheap," Jayden Grant clearly loathed her, yet still tore at her clothes in front of the child.

"Jayden Grant... don’t, please, not in front of the child, I beg you..." Yvette trembled all over from fear, her fingertips turning cold.

She had congenital heart disease and nearly died once when bullied in prison; now, she felt like she was dying again.

She struggled helplessly, resisting, clinging tightly to Summers, preventing him from hearing or seeing. "Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, Summers is not afraid."

"Disgusting..." Jayden Grant backed away a step in revulsion. "You think I’d do anything to you? Yvette, take a good look at yourself in the mirror, reeking of prison stench; how are you different from those beggars on the street? What man would have any desire for you?"

Yvette stiffly held onto Summers, pressing his ears with all her might.

Her son was innocent, no matter how filthy the way he came into this world, he was innocent.

Seeing Yvette’s current state, Jayden Grant himself didn’t know why... he couldn’t control his emotions.

There were things he didn’t want to say, but he couldn’t stop himself from hating Yvette.

Hating her for what she did to wrong him back then, hating her for having a bastard child with another man.

Six years ago, he forced Yvette to abort the child, but she insisted on keeping it.

She said she had no family left, that child was her hope to live on.

"Mommy..." Summers choked up, hugging his mother, with his little hands wiping the tears off Yvette’s face. "Mommy, Uncle says Summers is a brave boy and should protect Mommy."

Yvette collapsed helplessly to the ground, crying as she hugged Summers.

At that moment, it seemed all the grievances she had suffered over the years were worth it.

Her son was her only hope.

Throughout the years, she had considered dying countless times in prison, but each time Caden Summers brought Summers to visit, she felt like she had found the hope to live on once more.
