Chapter 377: All-Day Date
CHAPTER 377: ALL-DAY DATE
The morning started differently than usual.
The first difference was, of course, the time Lane and Damien had gotten out of bed. Neither of them had to go to work, so they skipped the gym as well - it wasn’t very useful to them anyway, and everyone needed rest days. There was no need for them to get up at an ungodly hour as usual...
That’s not to say that they slept in, though. No, not at all. The morning cool was still hanging in the air, as the sun hadn’t been able to warm the city up just yet, but Lane was already out of bed.
Yes, Lane. He was the first one to jump out of bed. Because, while cuddling in bed with Damien was nice, he had a lot of great things planned for the day!
At least great according to him. As for whether Damien would enjoy it... That remained to be seen.
But Lane was convinced that he would. After all, who wouldn’t like a shopping spree, especially when someone else was swiping the card? And a card with seemingly unlimited funds at that?
"Come on, get up!" he urged Damien, tugging on the man’s arm. "We have a lot to do today!"
Meaning: ’We have a lot of designer shops to visit today.’
But Damien didn’t know that yet.
Still, he let out a sigh, and half got up, half got pulled out of bed. He wasn’t a morning person, actually, but after so many years of getting up early, first to help with his younger siblings and household chores, then to go to work (or both), it developed into a habit. He would get up early every day to get things done. The only reason why he was still in bed was because he had thought that that’s what Lane would have wanted...
But apparently not. Not this time, at least.
"What do you want for breakfast?" he asked, as he stepped into the bathroom to shave.
"Oh, don’t worry about that," Lane just waved his hand dismissively. "We’re eating out!"
He might have liked Damien’s food the best, but it was their all-day date today. From breakfast until supper, he had to treat Damien all the way!
Damien glanced at him, but seeing how excited Lane was, he didn’t protest. He had promised this date to Lane a long, long time ago, so he owed his boyfriend this much.
Of course, that’s not to say that he wasn’t excited about the date, that was not it at all! It’s just that... If he were to take a guess, a whole-day-long date planned by Lane would likely include spending a lot of money. And while Damien was slowly adjusting to Lane’s way of life, he still wasn’t fully used to it.
Still, it was better than going on another trip to a Forbidden Zone, or anything like that. At least it wasn’t illegal.
They both quickly got dressed, and soon left the apartment, heading to the underground parking.
The elevator ride took a bit longer than usual. Typically, when they left the apartment, it was much earlier in the morning (almost inappropriately early, in fact), so there weren’t many people up and about in their apartment building. But this morning, they seemed to have gone out at about the worst time... There were other residents heading to work, and a few teens probably going to school. Not enough for the spacious elevator to get cramped, but they slowed the ride, as the elevator had to stop several times.
Well, it was whatever. It’s not like they were in a rush. Lane leaned against the wall, looking at his and Damien’s reflection in the wall mirrors.
It was kind of amusing, actually. He and Damien looked mismatched and well-matched at the same time. Well-matched because they were both fit and good-looking, and mismatched... Because of everything else. Their personalities were complete opposites, and it showed in their appearances as well, and on top of that, Lane was dressed in high-end brands, while Damien’s clothes were the cheapest of the cheap...
Then again, they said that opposites attract, so you could also say that they were the perfect match in that aspect. As for the clothes... Damien’s wardrobe was about to get fixed that day, so soon, it no longer would be the case.
The elevator stopped at the ground floor, letting most of the people out onto the elegant foyer, and finally, they descended to their destination, the underground garage. They stepped out, going toward the parking spots for their apartments...
"Huh?" Damien furrowed his brows, confused, as he stared at the parking spots.
"What is it?" Lane glanced back at him, barely suppressing his smile.
"Ah, nothing. It’s just that I thought that this spot was supposed to be for my apartment... But maybe I just remembered it wrong."
Lane shook his head in response. "Nope, you’re right. That’s your spot."
"Ah?" Damien’s frown deepened, as he got even more puzzled. Lane didn’t mention anything about buying himself a second car, and even if he did, he had more than one space he had bought for his apartment, so there was no need for him to park in Damien’s spot, right? Not that it mattered, since Damien didn’t have a car, and he didn’t even need one, especially now when they lived practically right next to the Association Headquarters...
A moment later, though, his frown eased. "I guess someone must have parked their car in the wrong spot," he just said.
It wasn’t a big deal. It’s not like he needed that spot anyway...
At this point, Lane could no longer contain his smile. "Nobody has parked wrong," he said with a wide grin, as he pulled a set of car keys from his pocket. Car keys that were not for his car. "That’s your car."
"...What?" Damien frowned again.
Lane only dangled the keys high in the air without much explanation. Not like there was much to explain, as the meaning was rather obvious. "Want to take your new toy for a ride?"
