CHAPTER 379: SHOPPING SPREE (2)

The experience wasn’t entirely unpleasant for Damien. It was a bit embarrassing to have all those shop assistants busy themselves around him, measuring him and pushing various clothes his way, then ’Oh’-ing and ’Ah’-ing each time he stepped out of the changing room, rushing to adjust his clothes and observe him from all angles to see how it fit...

But he actually liked the smile on Lane’s face, or how he nodded with approval. And especially the look in his eyes. Lane was practically devoured him with his sight...

It was also a bit embarrassing, but at the same time, extremely flattering. Damien didn’t care how much the shop assistants were complimenting him, but Lane... He wanted the man’s approval. Even if he himself didn’t care much about the looks - as far as he was considered, it was only important to be neat, tidy, and clean, and dressed appropriately for the occasion - and he didn’t like his face, because he looked just like his father, he still wanted Lane to think he was good-looking... After all, it was because of his face and well-built body that he had attracted this disaster of a man in the first place. Disliking his own face, but liking the fact that Lane liked it, always left him very conflicted...

But not so much at this moment.

Primarily because he had another source of conflict and concern - that is, the price tags! Not all stores they had visited had them, but some had... And those already made Damien dizzy. Thinking about how many groceries could be bought for this amount of money...

And he had a hunch that the tag-less clothes were even more pricey!

There was no stopping Lane, though. He was swiping his card like his life depended on it, having the clerks at every store fill several fancy shopping bags with clothes for Damien. Even the fact that they had to then walk around with so many bags wouldn’t stop him...

Because he just tossed all of the bags in his spatial bag! Out of sight, out of mind!

Not for Damien, though. Not being able to see the bags only made him think about the growing pile of clothes hidden in the bag.

"...Don’t you think it’s too much?" he finally brought the topic up, as they sat down for lunch in a fancy restaurant, which served dishes that looked almost like works of art. "At this rate, we’re going to run out of space in the closet..."

"There’s no such thing as ’too much’!" Lane only chuckled in response, rolling his eyes. "And that’s not even enough to fill half of the closet!"

That was true. Their closet in the master bedroom was pretty big... And then they had the closets in the other rooms. And in Lane’s apartment upstairs.

And if that was not enough, they could transform one of the bedrooms into a closet... It’s not like they were using them, anyway.

"But where am I even going to wear it all?" Damien asked, raising another one of his concerns. "I have to wear a uniform to work."

Lane paused for a moment. That was... true. Damien had to wear the Association’s uniform every day, from early morning, to late in the evening. Even if he were to wear those clothes at home - which he probably wouldn’t, aside from the lounge wear, just like Lane didn’t - there was no way he actually NEEDED that much...

But so what? Even if those clothes were to collect dust in the closet most of the time, he still wanted Damien to have them! For special occasions, and going on dates. Besides,

"You never know," he smiled. "You might need them in the future."

If the Awakened Association was abolished in the future, and Lane’s secret organization took over, then Lane was going to get rid of any dress code! Especially for higher ranking members. Then, Damien would have plenty of opportunities to wear his new clothes!

Damien went silent, not knowing what to say. He had no idea what Lane meant, but he was out of arguments. Trying to argue with Lane about how much money he had already spent was pointless, because he already knew that while for him it was a lot, for Lane it was just ’chump change’.

Lane observed him for a moment. He wanted to spend money on Damien. Firstly, because swiping credit cards was one of the things he was good for. And secondly, because he wanted to see Damien in all those nice clothes... As his rich boyfriend, naturally he had to make sure that Damien had appropriate clothes to wear.

But that didn’t mean that he wanted to make Damien uncomfortable.

So, a moment later, he added, "Don’t worry, we’re done with most of the clothes. We just need to stop by a tailor to take your measurements for your new suits, and then a few more shops to pick up some essentials, like underwear and accessories..."

"...Even underwear?" Damien couldn’t help but ask. Yes, of course, underwear was a daily essential... But he had enough. There was no need to spend so much money on brand underwear, now was it?

However, Lane thought otherwise. "Look, you look hot no matter what you wear, and even hotter when you wear nothing at all... But that doesn’t mean that you have to skip on underwear. I would like to see you in some quality boxer briefs. Pretty please?"

Damien lifted his brows.

Lane wanted to see him in ’quality underwear’? He could bet that the man was only going to take a glance, before tearing it off of him, just as he usually did!

...Not that he complained.

Although he still found it pointless and a waste of money, which could be better spent otherwise, he didn’t protest. If that made Lane happy...

It was just clothes, in the end. It wasn’t that big of a deal, there was no need to refuse it. He would just try to reciprocate in other ways.
