The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!
Chapter 552: More Than Enough
CHAPTER 552: CHAPTER 552: MORE THAN ENOUGH
Then, casting a sympathetic glance at Paige Sterling, "If you could act for a lifetime, it would be fine. But if you can’t, won’t you end up hurting Miss Sterling in the future? Why do that? If you like someone, you like them. If you don’t, you don’t. Why let love and marriage get tangled up with so many interests? Isn’t it better to bravely cast aside worldly burdens and pursue your true desires? Perhaps the person in your heart has never given up on you and is still waiting for you at the same place."
It almost sounded like she was directly telling Julian Hawthorne, "Hurry up and leave Paige Sterling to come find me. I’m still waiting for you, I’m your true love..."
Julian Hawthorne regarded them as nothing more than background scenery, hardly noticing they were still around.
He frowned, looking at the general manager, "Why are they still here?"
The general manager, standing with arms crossed in front of him, was momentarily stunned before realizing he was there to deal with Harrison Sheridan and Helen Hale.
In the end, he found himself engrossed in being a bystander.
The general manager felt embarrassed and promptly asked security to escort Harrison Sheridan and Helen Hale out. At this point, he wasn’t even worried about offending those two.
After all, offending Helen Hale and Harrison Sheridan was clearly less serious than offending Julian Hawthorne and Paige Sterling.
Kicked out of the hotel, Helen Hale and Harrison Sheridan both wore dark expressions, feeling utterly humiliated today.
Especially Harrison Sheridan, who felt that his embarrassment was all because of Helen Hale dragging him down.
He had long tried to leave, but she wouldn’t, insisting on staying there to humiliate herself, dragging him down with her.
He glared at Helen Hale, "Helen Hale, you still like Julian Hawthorne, don’t you? You want to marry him, right?"
That’s what he couldn’t tolerate. Julian Hawthorne being better than him was one thing, but the woman he was about to marry still had thoughts about Julian Hawthorne and even hinted at reconciling with him right in front of him. What does she take him for?
Isn’t Harrison Sheridan supposed to have any self-respect?
Helen Hale felt very upset. Losing the man she loved and watching him marry another woman was painful enough. Couldn’t Harrison Sheridan be a little considerate of her feelings? Why question her at a time like this?
"Harrison Sheridan, I’m in a bad mood right now. Can you please not talk to me?"
"You’re in a bad mood? Do you think I’m feeling any better?"
Harrison Sheridan grabbed Helen Hale, "Helen Hale, I’m warning you, I, Harrison Sheridan, am not a man who must have you. If you still have feelings for Julian Hawthorne, we should just call off the wedding early. If I marry a woman who will inevitably betray me, I, Harrison Sheridan, cannot bear that shame."
Helen Hale sneered internally, thinking to herself, the things you’ve done are well-known by everyone, what shame do you have left?
But she also knew Harrison Sheridan was the best choice she could hold on to right now and couldn’t really offend him.
So she said, "Harrison, you saw it too. I genuinely wanted to reconcile with Paige Sterling, but she didn’t give me the face, nor the Sheridan Family the face. She’s still holding a grudge for things I’ve done before, who knows what schemes she’d come up with to harm me in the future? I’m just worried..."
Harrison Sheridan sneered, not believing a word of her nonsense.
"I think you’re worried you can’t seduce Julian Hawthorne, right? Helen Hale, don’t think I’m an idiot, unaware of your intentions. I advise you to stop daydreaming, with a woman as outstanding as Paige Sterling by his side, do you think Julian Hawthorne would even look at a cripple like you?"
Helen Hale, who already had a bad temper, was only being gentle with Harrison Sheridan to marry into the Sheridan Family.
But Harrison Sheridan’s words completely infuriated her.
Did even Harrison Sheridan think she was inferior to Paige Sterling?
This was something she could not bear. In her heart, she believed she was better than Paige Sterling in every way.
Her loss to Paige was simply because she was too kind-hearted and not as cunning as Paige Sterling.
But now, the man she was about to marry, a man she looked down upon, a man who was not even a fraction of what Julian Hawthorne was, dared to say she was inferior to Paige Sterling?
Helen Hale glared at Harrison Sheridan with a terrifying gaze.
"Harrison Sheridan, you say I’m inferior to Paige Sterling? Look at yourself, how do you even compare to Julian Hawthorne? You’re not even worthy of a single strand of Julian’s hair, you’re just trash! Always bragging about loving me and giving me a grand wedding, yet you try to trick me with a rented dress claiming it’s custom, saying you’ll love only me in the future, won’t let anyone bully me, yet when that bitch Paige was bullying me, all you did was stand by and watch. You made me a joke in front of Paige, unable to hold my head up. A man like you isn’t even fit to carry my shoes. If it were before, I wouldn’t have even spared you a glance. How dare you say I’m inferior to Paige? I’m telling you, I’m a thousand, no, ten thousand times better than Paige, and it’s shallow men like you who only care about appearances!"
If Helen Hale had been as accommodating as before to Harrison Sheridan, it would have been fine, but she failed to hold back her temper.
Thus, Harrison Sheridan was also infuriated.
Especially since Helen Hale’s words were so cutting.
"Helen Hale! How dare you speak to me like that?" Harrison Sheridan squeezed Helen Hale’s shoulders tightly.
"Yes, I’m trash, I’m no good, but what do you think you are? The only reason you’re marrying me is that the Hale Family fell, and you couldn’t find a better man, isn’t it? You love Julian Hawthorne, want to marry him, but unfortunately, he’s not interested in you. The woman he loves is a thousand, no, ten thousand times better than you. You’re only settling for me because I’m willing to take you. If I were a bit better, I wouldn’t even look at a woman like you..."
He sneered again, "But even if I’m not great, I’m still the successor of the Sheridan Family. And you? You are nothing, Helen Hale remember, it’s me choosing you, not you choosing me. You no longer have the right to be picky. If I don’t want you, you’ll never return to this circle. In front of me, you’d better behave. Anger me, and you’ll have nothing left. Compete with Paige? You have no place competing with anyone."
Helen Hale knew full well that what Harrison Sheridan said was the truth, but hearing it laid bare, especially at a time like this, was unbearable.
She almost hysterically shouted, "Harrison Sheridan! You bastard! Shut up! I won’t allow you to say another word!"
Harrison Sheridan, however, wasn’t intent on letting it go. If Helen Hale dared to speak to him like that, why should he let her off?
Right now, he felt the need to make Helen Hale recognize her own status, to stop thinking she was still the Hale Family’s privileged daughter in front of him.
He had tolerated Helen Hale all this time simply because she was tender and gentle in his presence, and in a moment of passion, he agreed to marry her.
But now, knowing Helen Hale’s true nature, he was far less accommodating.
Of course, Harrison Sheridan wasn’t thinking of calling off the engagement.
First, the invitations were already sent out; canceling now wasn’t something the Sheridan Family would allow. Who knows how outsiders might speculate?
Second, wasn’t Helen Hale looking down on him? He’d marry her to teach her a lesson, making her realize that even if he, Harrison Sheridan, lacked ability, he was more than capable of tormenting her.
