Chapter b1015 /b

Halsey stood outside the office door and knocked lightly

The door wasn’t closed all the way, so she could see inside. Shaun was sitting in the professor’s chair, his ck suit jacket draped over the back. He wore a crisp white shirt and ck cks, eyes lowered as he flipped through a book. The sight of him–sharp, elegant, andpletely focused–made it impossible for her to look away.

At the sound of her knock, Shaun looked up. “Come in.”

    Halsey stepped inside.

    “Close the door,” Shaun said.

She did as told, then walked over to him. “Why did you ask to see me?”

“Are you free tonight?” he asked.

Her lips curved into a smile. “Why do you ask?”

“I’d like to take you out to dinner.”

“You? Taking me out? Are you sure that’s okay?”

He raised his brows, amused. “Why wouldn’t it be?”

“You’re a guest lecturer. If people saw us eating together, I can imagine the gossip flying around.”

Shaun reached out and caught her wrist, tugging her down onto hisp. “Let them talk. I don’t care. Maybe it’s better if they all know you’re my girlfriend.”

Her heart fluttered sweetly, but she tried to squirm away. “Let go. What if someone walks in?”

“The chancellor arranged for this office for me. No one elsees in here. Rx.”

Halsey was surprised to find that he was that close to the chancellor of Anteoch University.

“Why did youe to give a lecture here today?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Instead of answering directly, bhe /bshot back, “Why not? Can’t I give a lecture where you’re studying?”

    “That’s not what I meant.”

“Then what do you mean? You don’t want me here?”

“How could I not? You showed up at Anteoch University and instantly won everyone’s heart. Of course, I’m d you’re here,”

Shaun tightened his arms around her while she sat on his legs. “So I didn’t win your heart, too?”

Shaun was basically the definition of perfect—he was young, ssy, rich, and brilliant. Who could turn that down? Definitely not Halsey.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned in to press a quick kiss on his handsome face.

Amusement danced in his dark eyes as he nced at her lushed lips. “That’s it? Such a half–hearted kiss? Is

that all I mean to you?”

She teased, “Then how do you want me to kiss you?”

    “Like this.”

He bent down and captured her lips with his.

Halsey didn’t pull away. Instead, she slid her arms tighter around his neck and kissed him back, matching his intensity.

In the middle of Anteoch University, where he was a guest lecturer and she was a student, their secret felt both dangerous and intoxicating.

Just then, a ringtone cut through the moment. Halsey’s phone was ringing.

She quickly pushed him back. “It’s my phone.”

She pulled it out. The call was from one of her ssmates.

    “Who’s calling?” Shaun asked.

“A new friend I made here at Anteoch University,” she exined. Then she added firmly, “Don’t say a word while I’m on the phone, okay?”
