    “Alright,” Shaun replied with a smile. “I’ll do whatever you say.”

    Halsey pressed the button and answered her phone. On the other end, a girl’s cheerful voice came through. “Did you already leave campus?”

    “Yes, I was about to head out. Why?” Halsey asked.

    “Do you have time tonight? Let’s have dinner together.”

    The girl was inviting her out.

    But Halsey already had ns for tonight, so she had to turn her down gently. “I’m sorry, I can’t tonight. I’ve already got something nned. How about next time? Dinner will be on me then.”

    The girl sighed, disappointed. “That’s such a shame. We were all nning to find a way to get Mr. Lane’s number tonight.”

    Get Shaun’s number?

    Halsey immediately looked up at him. He was already watching her, his dark eyes full of focus and intensity, and she felt herself falling straight into them.

    “You all want Mr. Lane’s number?” Halsey asked. “But doesn’t he already have a girlfriend?”

    “Yeah, but just because he has a girlfriend doesn’t mean we don’t stand a chance. She hasn’t even epted his proposal yet. We might have a shot.

    Halsey was speechless. She hadn’t expected girls to still be chasing after Shaun despite knowing he was taken. She shot him a sharp re.

    Shaun only grinned, leaned down, and brushed a quick kiss against hers. His voice dropped to a whisper. “I’m yours. No one can take me away.”

    If only they knew Halsey was the so–called girlfriend they all thought didn’t appreciate him, sitting right here on Shaun’sp!

    Jealousy bubbled up in her chest. “You sure are popr with thedies.”

    Shaun didn’t hold back his sweet talk. “Out of all he oceans, I only choose one drop of water— and that’s you.”

    “Smooth talker,” Halsey muttered.

    On the phone, her ssmate noticed something was off. “Is someone there with you? Who are you with right now?”

    “I’m with my boyfriend,” Halsey said quickly.

    “You have a boyfriend?” The girl sounded shocked.

    “Yep. I do.”

    “What’s he like?”

    Halsey nced at Shaun. He raised a brow, waiting to see how she’d describe him.

    “My boyfriend?” she said confidently. “He’s young, good–looking, and he owns his ownpany. He’s doing really well for himself.”

    In front of her friend, she couldn’t brag too much. But in front of Shaun, she couldn’t say too little either. She had to strike just the right bnce.

    Judging by the satisfied look on his face, she nailed it.

    “Wow,” her friend said, “sounds like your boyfriend’s amazing.”

    Of course,

    he was. Why else would all of them be trying to steal him away?

    “He’s definitely someone people notice,” Halsey replied with a littleugh. “That’s why I have to keep a close eye on him. I can’t let anyone take him from me.”

    “Alright. Then I guess you’re having dinner with him tonight,” her ssmate teased.

    “Yep,” Halsey admitted without hesitation.

    “Okay. We won’t bother you, then. Have fun tonight!”

    When the call ended, Halsey turned to Shaun. “I made the call, ‘Boyfriend‘.”

    “Boyfriend?” Shaun repeated, his voice warm but edged with amusement.

    “What? You don’t like being called that?”

    He pulled her closer, eyes gleaming. “Boyfriend’s fine. But I like a two–syble title even more.
