Sierra quickly wiped away her sad, insecure expression and reced it with a bright, dazzling smile. ” Halseyb, /byou’re so nice!”

    She reached out and took Halsey’s hand. “From now on, we’re gonna be good friends!”

    Zada added her hand on top of theirs. “The three of us should hang out together from now on.”

    Halsey nodded. “Okayb./bb” /b

    Just then, a tall, calm figure walked in–it was Calvin.

    He looked at Halsey. “Hey, Halsey.”

    Halsey smiled. “Hello, Professor Johnson.”

    Calvin returned her smile. “This is your second day in ss, right? Are you settling in okay?”

    Halsey nodded. “I’m doing really well. Thanks for asking, Professor Johnson.”

    Zada whispered excitedly to Halsey, “Wow, you’re good friends with Professor Johnson?”

    Halsey didn’t want to cause any awkwardness, but Calvin’s easy smile and straightforward tone put her

    at ease.

    “Yes,” he said. “Halsey is like a little sister to me. We’ve known each other a long time.”

    Seeing Calvin so open and sincere, Halsey didn’t argue.

    “I don’t wanna keep you. Everything’s fine here,” she said politely to Calvin.

    He nodded. “Alright. If you ever need help, just give me a call.”

    Then, he left.

    Zada looked impressed. “I didn’t realize you had such connections. You’ve actually known Professor

    Johnson for a long time! You two really do seem perfect together–talent and beauty!”

    Halsey gave a helplessugh. “There’s no way that could happen. I already have a fiancé!”

    Hearing that, a bunch of other students crowded around. “What? You’re getting married?!”

    “Who is it? Who’s lucky enough to marry our beautiful Halsey? It’s like a dreame true!”

    “Yeah,e on! Tell us who your fiancé is!”

    Everyone was curious, but Halsey didn’t want to reveal it yet. Shaun had just been at Anteoch University yesterday, but he was a big deal in certain circles. If her ssmates realized her fiancé was Shaun, they’d

    probably lose their minds. She wanted to keep things low–key.

    “Don’t worry about it for now. I’ll invite you all when the wedding happens!”

    The students cheered.

    “Alright! We want to see who the lucky guy is!”

    “Your taste is perfect, so your fiancé must be a young, talented guy!”

    As Halsey was surrounded by all the chatter, Sierra’s eyes were filled with jealousy. Halsey had always

    lived in the sunlight, surrounded by love, while Sierra had always lived in the shadows, trying to take

    what wasn’t hers.

    That was why Sierra hated Halsey so much.

    She could tell that Calvin had feelings for Halsey. She couldn’t believe Halsey had so many high–quality

    guys around her.

    The worst part was, Halsey was engaged to Shaun. Sierra was beyond jealous.

    Sierra quickly wiped away her jealousy and reced it with an innocent, pure expression as she said to

    Halsey, “You have to invite me, too.”

    Halsey nodded. “Of course. I’ll invite you and Zada.”

    Sierra’s smile was sweet on the outside but deadly on the inside. She was sure she’d find a way to mess

    things up as long as she stayed close to Halsey.

    Halsey spent the whole day at Anteoch University. Shaun didn’te–he was too busy and couldn’t be

    here every day.

    But Halsey heard her ssmates mention Shaun several times; everyone couldn’t stop talking about him.

    Soon, it was the end of the afternoon sses. Zada turned to Halsey. “Now that ss is over, I’m heading

    home first.”
