The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)
Chapter 705
"Maggie, use your phone to call her! No matter what excuse or reason you have toe up with, you must get Sierra toe here," Samuel hissed through gritted teeth.
Despite having money and people to take care of him, something just didn''t feel right.
When he and Sierra had been in Amberton, staying with Jonathan and Melissa, life had been perfect. They had all been so happy together.
Jonathan and Melissa would''ve given Sierra the best of everything, even treating him with immense care and affection.
But now, Sierra wanted a divorce, and Jonathan and Melissa had withdrawn all their affection for him as well. How could people be so cold and calcting?
Had everything he did for Sierra during their years abroad together been in vain? They had been married for so many years, yet now, when he was injured, not only did Sierra not care for him, but she wasn''t even there by his side.
Samuel just couldn''t get past this emotionally. He couldn''t understand it. It was too much for him to ept.
"Maggie, why are you just standing there? Hurry up and make the call!" Samuel snapped again, growing more impatient when he saw Maggie hesitate.
Maggie realized she had no choice. She reluctantly pulled out her phone and dialed Sierra''s number. From the first day she became a maid, Samuel had given her Sierra''s contact info, ordering Maggie to call her whenever he needed.
After Maggie introduced herself and exined the situation, Sierra''s response was polite and patient. She exined things to her in a calm tone before hanging up.
Maggie had called Sierra several times on Samuel''s request. Every time, Sierra was kind and never made things difficult for her, but she never once agreed to Samuel''s demands.
Sierra hadn''t blocked her number, which Maggie took as a sign of her good manners and kindness.
She couldn''t help but wonder why Sierra would marry someone as hot-tempered as Samuel.
Maggie could only vent her frustrations internally. She dared not say anything aloud. Samuel was her boss, and she had no choice but to follow his orders.
After Maggie called, it was a long while before someone picked up.
When Sierra answered, Maggie immediately apologized. "Ms. Remington, I''m sorry for calling again, but I had no choice. Mr. Sinir is throwing a fit at home and insists I call you. If you could, please be kind and bring a few bodyguards with you to check on Mr. Sinir."
Maggie lowered her voice, making sure Samuel couldn''t hear her.
There was silence on the other end for a long time before Sierra sighed softly. "Maggie, I don''t want to make things difficult for you, but please don''t make things difficult for me either, okay?
"Tell Samuel that if wants anything other than a divorce, she shouldn''t call me again. There''s nothing left to say between us, and I don''t want to see him. He doesn''t want to see me either."
She paused briefly and continued, "His acting isn''t that good. I know exactly how he feels about me. Maggie, the only reason I haven''t blocked your number is that I don''t want to make things difficult for you.
"I know what Samuel is like, so I''ll answer your calls. Please don''t mistake that for me tolerating everything. That''s all. Goodbye."
With that, Sierra ended the call.
As Maggie turned back with the phone in hand, sheposed herself and addressed Samuel respectfully. "Mr. Sinir, Ms. Remington said she won''t being."
"Give me your phone. I''ll make the call myself," Samuel said, feeling slightly calmer now. "Maggie, I''m sorry, I shouldn''t have been so harsh with you."
Maggie shook her head to show she didn''t mind. She carefully handed her phone to Samuel and said, "Mr. Sinir, if you''re going to smash something, please don''t smash my phone. It''s not worth much, but it has a lot of photos and videos of my family."
Samuel fell silent. Did he really look like someone who lost his temper and smashed things all the time?
"Here you go, Mr. Sinir," Maggie said as she handed him the phone and quietly stepped aside.
Samuel took a deep breath and dialed Sierra''s number. The call rang for a long time. Just as he was about to give up, it finally connected.
"Hey, Sierra. Don''t hang up," Samuel said quickly, afraid she might end the call right away. "Sierra, I haven''t seen you in days. We''ve been together for so many years. Are you really that heartless?
"Even if you want to divorce me, can''t you at least wait until I recover? I just want to see you. Please, Sierra. I''m begging you."
On the other end, Sierra took a deep breath before replying calmly, "Samuel, it''s not that I don''t want to see you. There''s just nothing left to say. There''s no point anymore. We''ve been together for years, but I never really knew you, and you never truly knew me either."
She continued, "I know exactly what you''re thinking. You''ve never said it out loud, but you hate what happened to me. You pretend you''re okay with it, but deep down, you''re not. It''s honestlyughable.
"Just look at how you treated Sophia, your own sister. She was the victim, and you still used such cruel words against her. I''m your wife and a victim too. But in your heart, you''ve already grouped me together with her. Don''t bother denying it. You know I''m right."
Samuel weakly said, "Sierra, is that really how you see me? I didn''t mean to me you. I know what happened wasn''t your fault. I never said I despised you
"But you do in your heart," Sierra interrupted. "Samuel, we''ve been together a long time, but only now have I truly seen who you are. I told Maggie to let you know-if you want to talk about the divorce, I''ll meet with you. If it''s about anything else, don''t call me again. I''m tired of it."
With that, Sierra ended the call.
Samuel held Maggie''s phone, staring at it for a long time. He nced at Maggie, who stood not far away, and suddenly asked, "Maggie, if your daughter-inw was assaulted, would you still ept and forgive her?"
Maggie was taken aback by the question. She thought it was ridiculous, but still answered him seriously. "My daughter-inw is the victim. Why would I me or reject her? What I''d do is find the man who hurt her, castrate him and parade him through the streets."
She continued, "How is it that the perpetrator can live without a care in the world, while the victim is expected to be ashamed, depressed, and perhaps even driven to suicide? Is that what makes a husband feel like he''s done right by his wife?"
Her words left Samuel frozen.
