Chapter 156: Kyana lost the bet
CHAPTER 156: KYANA LOST THE BET
The Colosseum was a large battle arena that could hold thousands of people. The place was used for tournaments, events, and most commonly, duels. Many people skipped parts of their class to witness the duels between others. It brought the academy students excitement and thrill.
Some duels were lame and boring, while others were epic and awesome. Some people would get absolutely demolished in their duel, and others would have a crazy battle that ended in a draw.
Today, the battle was between Kyana, an Elf, and Jason, a human.
"Why are they dueling?" Someone asked
"Apparently, the elf, Kyana, joined the Martial Arts club and and the president of the club was greatly impressed with her talent. She offered her the position of vice president of the club right away, pushing Jason down to number three."
"Ohhh! That’s a huge blow to Jason’s pride and ego."
"Yeah, he has an ultra ego, alright. Jason pleaded with the president to reconsider, but she didn’t budge. Then, Kyana said something that really set him off. So, he challenged her to a duel."
"Damn. I feel sorry for her. Jason is one of the best students in the academy. He’s already a Tier-7 warrior and is only 23 years old! Not only that, his family is only a Baron, so he made it this far with mostly effort and minimal resources."
"Yeah, Jason is going to mop the floor with her."
"Well, if she were given the vice president position, then she must be really skilled, right?"
"True. It wont be an easy fight, but Jason won’t lose either way."
"I agree."
Kai was listening to their entire conversation and couldn’t help but laugh his ass off internally. Kyana was talking so much shit, and here she was, fighting against someone on the first day of school.
’Fuck, I can’t believe that I lost the bet. I hope Kai doesn’t hear about this.’ Kyana looked around the large crowd, using her stellar vision to find Kai. When she didn’t see him, she sighed in relief.
’I have to make sure he doesn’t find out about this.’
’Too late.’
She snapped her head to the side, spotting Kai sitting in the first row with a wicked grin. He had made himself invisible and planned on keeping it that way, but thought it would be fun to mess with her, so he decided to reveal himself.
"Fuck!" She shouted.
"Hahaha! You suck! How can you say all of that shit to me and end up like this? Hahaha! I win! You lose! Just wait until I tell the others."
"Wait! Noo! Please!" She ran to him. "Don’t let them know! They’ll make fun of me." She pleaded.
"Hmm. I don’t know? You were so confident that you would win the bet. But now that you’ve clearly lost, you’re trying to take things back? Doesn’t sound fair to me."
"Please! I’ll do anything!"
"Anything?"
"Anything!"
"Anything?"
"Anything!"
"Alright. Meet me after your match is over." Kai’s wicked grin never left his face, and it sent shivers up Kyana’s spine.
"A-Alright."
Back on the platform, she faced Jason.
"You done talking to your boyfriend?" He teased
"Yes."
"W-Wait, he’s your boyfriend?" He just wanted to mess with her head. Jason never expected Kyana to actually be dating someone.
"What? Surprised? And he’s not my boyfriend, he’s my husband. Now, ready yourself. I can’t allow myself to lose in front of him."
"Heh, cute, but the power of love wont save you from this beating I’ll be giving you." Jason readied his glaive.
"BEAT HIS ASS, KYANA! SHOW HIM WHO’S BOSS! WOOOOO! LETS GOOOOOO!" Kai cheered her on.
"S-Shut up! You’re embarrassing me!"
"Contestants, ready your weapons!" The instructor announced.
Kyana nothed and arrow and made sure her dagger was in place.
"Ready....Begin!"
Jason dashed forward, closing the distance between them. ’She uses a bow as her main weapon. This means that close combat isn’t her strong suit.’
The glaive shone a brilliant blue light, blinding anyone who happened to stare at it, and narrowly missed Kyana a she jumped into the air.
The glaive slammed into the ground, kicking up dust and rocks. "Don’t think jumping will help you!" Jason effortlessly attacked the rocks, launching them toward Kyana so she wouldn’t be able to use her weapon.
"Your battle IQ is pretty good." She complimented. "But not good enough."
Her foot landed in the air, a cushion allowing her to maneuver as she pleased. She fired an arrow at the rocks, easily countering them with her skill.
Kyana moved around like the wind, Jason barely being able to keep up, and then, she appeared behind him.
"Gatcha." She released her arrow, and it flew toward Jason’s back.
"That won’t work against me!" With his left hand, he quickly turned around and caught the arrow. His skin peeled off slightly, but it was a necessary sacrifice. With his right hand, he thrusted his blade, and a beam of mana blasted out of the glaive.
Kyana avoided it, leaping to the side, and fired a volley of arrows at Jason.
"Haup!" He planted his feet on the ground, held his glaive in both hands, and spun it around super fast, deflecting all of the arrows. Then, once the volley ended, he slammed the glaive into the ground, and a sheet of ice encased the entire arena.
"Ohhh! He’s using his element!"
"She’s done for!"
"Give up, Kyana! You won’t win against me!" A pillar of ice rose from under her feet, nearly freezing her. Then, multiple ice spikes rapidly flew toward her direction, keeping her on her toes.
"I have to admit that you’re really skilled, but you’re still nothing to me." Flames wrapped around her hands and feet, melting the ice around her. She stomped her foot, and all of the ice instantly evaporated.
"The fuck?!"
"Goodbye now." A flaming arrow, amplified by a fire spirit, blasted toward Jason’s head so fast that no one, not even the instructor, could see or react to it.
"S-Shit!" Kyana knew that if her arrow landed, he would die, but right before it did, Kai grabbed it just mere inches before it reached his head.
The sheer force of the arrow created a shockwave that tore the area apart.
"Are you crazy, woman?!"
"I-I didn’t mean to do that. I was just so used to going for the kill, you know? Haha. My bad."
"Yeah, I get that. Just be careful. That was dangerous."
Jason fell to the ground, his legs shaking and his life flashing before his eyes. All he saw was Kyana firing an arrow, then Kai holding the arrow in his hand. It was only after the shockwave that he realized he could have died.
"I-I lose." He said without any shame.
"HOLY SHIT!" The crowd was shocked.
