The Hero of Hypnosis
Chapter 423: A duel already?
CHAPTER 423: A DUEL ALREADY?
In the center, where the upper-class attendants sat, one of them, a guy, walked over to Kai. He had a smug look on his face and assessed Kai, seeing if he was anything special.
"Is he the one?" He asked someone else
"Yes, that’s him, Brimous." Yulia’s attendant responded.
"Heh. It’s your first day here, and you’re already picking fights, huh?" Brimous wasn’t intimidated by Kai’s appearance or stature. He was of a similar height, probably an inch shorter, and he assumed he was more powerful.
"What the hell are you talking about, man?" Kai sighed, not being interested in little disputes such as this. He planned on chatting it up, making new friends, but it seems like the people in this place were all either scardycats ot bastards.
"You see that guy over there, Lady Yulia’s attendant? He’s a good friend of mine. I heard from him that you flicked him off. Around here, messing with my people is as if you’re messing with me. So, are you messing with me, new guy?"
Kai fanned his hand in front of his face to push the smell of Brimous’s breath away. "Dude, get the fuck out of my face, your breath stinks."
A quiet laughter filled the room, chuckles coming from every faction. But when Brimous glared at them, they all shut up.
"Since you’re new, let me tell you how things work around here. I’m the top dog in this place. Everything you do, everywhere you go, has to be permitted by me, do you understand?"
"I see. So, which administrator placed you in charge of the place?" Kai asked
The question threw Brimous off a bit. "What?"
"You said that you’re in charge around here. So, I’m asking about the one who put you in charge."
"I put myself in charge."
"I see. So, this means anyone can be in charge?" Kai asked once more, smirking this time.
"Ohh, I see what you’re doing. Don’t get any fancy ideas. Do you know who I serve?"
Kai walked past Brimous and sat down in an open chair. "Nope, nor do I care."
"I serve the royal family! Specifically, the second prince!" He shouted
"Wow, congrats. Anyway, I’ll be sitting here. Anyone wanna play Tic-Tac-Toe?" No one answered him as they were shocked that he talked back to Brimous like that, even after knowing who he was now.
"Hey!" Brimous grabbed Kai’s collar, but once he did, Karumi released her killing intent, striking fear into the young man.
"Calm down, Karumi, no need to get all worked up. He’s just a big dummy who doesn’t understand how the world works. You can go back to sleep."
She rubbed up on Kai’s cheek, then closed her eyes.
"T-That’s a summoned beast!"
"Wow! I heard that it’s hard to summon a spirit!"
"He must be strong."
"No wonder he isn’t scared of Brimous."
Brimous, of course, did not like that one bit and lost any sanity he had left. "Jace, I’m going to fuck this bastard up!" He threw his glove at Kai.
Kai dodged the glove, not wanting it to touch him.
"The fuck you do that for? Is throwing gloves some sort of hobby of yours?" Kai knew what it meant, but he was acting as if he didn’t. It was more fun that way.
"No, you commoner trash! I’m challenging you to a duel! But by the looks of things, you’re a spirit summoner, so you might need some time to prepare. I’ll give you three—"
"Nah, let’s fight right now. You know what? Let’s announce this for the whole school so they see me absolutely beat the shit out of you, and the second prince loses face. You want that, right?" Kai was now hitting where it would hurt.
"Y-You! I’m gonna kill you!"
"Ah-Ah. Watch your words, because when you make a promise like that, it means that I can make such a promise as well. So, when do you wish to battle?" Kai was getting all excited. He could crush the guy now, but he loved the feeling of crushing someone in front of a crowd.
Brimous frowned. "Meet me at the duel grounds within two hours. That’s when all the students are on break. Jace and the rest of you, with me. We need to spread the word around. After all, once I put this bastard in his place, everyone will remember why I’m the top dog around here."
Brimous and his little posse left the room.
"Wow! That was amazing!"
"You really showed him!"
"I hope you can back up your skill."
"You’re one big idiot." A girl who was sitting in the corner of the room spoke above the others.
"And why is that?" Kai asked
"Brimous isn’t just strong; he has influence. The attendant of the Prince isn’t something to overlook."
Kai understood that. "True, but I wasn’t the aggressor, nor was I the one who challenged Brimous to a duel."
"You did insult the second prince." She pointed out.
"Huh, you do have a point there. But that wont matter anyway. When you’re as strong as I am, the little things don’t matter." Kai just relaxed in his chair.
"The little things?" She asked. "Are you saying that the prince is irrelevant?"
"Nah. I’m saying that the whole royal family, as well as every noble in the kingdom, is irrelevant in the face of absolute power."
That was something no one would dare say. It was so shocking to hear that everyone not only kept quiet, but also slowly distanced themselves from Kai, not wanting to be associated with him.
’Ha, pussies.’
"You’re one brave guy, I’ll give you that." The girl laughed slightly.
"It’s not bravery that I’m showing. Tell me, when you look at a bug on the ground and squash it, do you call yourself brave? Or is it just natural to squash the little things beneath your feet?"
That analogy was pretty shitty for Kai to use since he was afraid of bugs, but it was to get his point across, so he went with it anyway.
"Heh, heheheh, wow. You’re so gonna die." The girl said out loud.
"We’ll see about that."
