CHAPTER 134: ONE NIGHT’S REVENGE (2)

The night was quiet and calm, yet the bustling capital city of Halveran remained undisturbed.

People moved through the city center, creating a lively, almost enchanting scene.

The moon shone brightly, and a sea of stars adorned the sky, as if painted onto a vast, dark canvas.

Then, without warning, a black portal tore open in the skies above the capital.

From within, a man in a black cloak emerged, stepping out with grace and composure.

Moments later, two more figures—a man and a woman—followed him through the portal.

They were none other than Arnold and Malverna, loyal subordinates of Nolan.

Unlike the composed and indifferent Arnold, Malverna looked terrified, cold sweat forming on her brow.

Her face—once full of pride—was now clouded with fear and suspicion.

She stared at the back of the cloaked man ahead of her and muttered under her breath, Nolan... is actually the Singularity of Chaos?

Disbelief and denial surged within her, but the truth was undeniable. Even if she wanted to reject it, she couldn’t.

Her heart pounded as memories of her past interactions with Nolan came flooding back.

She had always been arrogant around him—even mocked him at times—yet he had never taken offense.

Had Nolan held a grudge, she would’ve been long dead and nowhere near where she stood now.

"Both of you, fall back," Nolan commanded in a cold voice.

Before Malverna could react, Arnold seized her arm and pulled her away.

In the blink of an eye, the two had moved a kilometer away from the capital.

Malverna looked displeased, but before she could speak, Arnold raised a finger to his lips.

"I know I was rude earlier," he said, his voice low and serious. "But hold your tongue. Watch carefully—what my Lord is about to do is something truly rare."

The words Malverna was about to utter caught in her throat. She swallowed them and turned her gaze back toward Nolan, who now stood in the distance.

Her eyes were filled with fear... and a flicker of hope.

Whoosh!

A gust of night wind swept across the sky, rustling Nolan’s cloak as he hovered motionless above the capital.

His tall, imposing figure radiated a suffocating pressure, a presence so overwhelming it struck fear into the hearts of those who laid eyes on him.

His masked face slowly tilted downward, and his purple pupils abruptly shifted—transforming into glowing symbols of the sun and moon.

Then, the tranquil night sky changed without warning.

From every direction—east, west, north, and south—black clouds surged in, spiraling together until they blanketed the skies above Halveran in an ominous shroud.

The abrupt change caught the capital’s citizens off guard.

Both those out in the streets and those indoors rushed to look up at the sky, their faces filled with confusion.

"What’s happening? Is it about to rain?"

"I don’t know. Maybe the rainy season came early?"

"Impossible. It usually starts between the eighth and first month. This is too soon."

"Then how do you explain this?"

"I’m just guessing, but... maybe it’s one of those rare summer rains?"

The streets buzzed with murmurs—curiosity, confusion, and speculation lingered in the air.

Yet not everyone seemed concerned. Some continued with their routines, unfazed, as if the weather—or whatever was happening—had nothing to do with them. After all, they had umbrellas.

Just as the citizens began to calm down and return to their routines, something terrifying occurred.

The pitch-black clouds above the capital began to churn violently, forming a massive vortex.

Then, from deep within the swirling darkness, two colossal eyes emerged—each with pupils shaped like the sun and moon—staring directly down at the city below.

The eyes were so immense, they seemed to overshadow the entire capital. People froze in place, paralyzed by the sight.

Mouths hung open, yet no sound escaped. Fear had risen to such an overwhelming peak that it seemed to silence not just voices, but thoughts themselves.

Then, without warning, both eyes unleashed a blinding, razor-sharp black light.

Those who met its gaze felt their very souls being drawn out by a force beyond comprehension—ancient, cold, and absolute.

Within seconds, the entire population of the capital—whether walking the streets or resting in homes, inns, or hotels—collapsed where they were, their consciousness ripped away in an instant.

And it wasn’t just humans—cats darting across rooftops, livestock in their pens, even insects suspended in midair—all dropped to the ground.

The once vibrant, bustling city had fallen into an unnatural silence.

In the palace courtyard, Daniel, Erald, Rebecca, the Empress, the concubines, princes, and princesses stood rooted in place, staring up at the dreadful sight above.

"What... what’s happening? Why... why are there such enormous eyes!?" Daniel cried out, his voice trembling.

From deep within, an unfamiliar emotion began to rise—one he had never experienced. It was fear.

Before those eyes, he felt small—insignificant. Like an ant under the gaze of a god.

Not even his father had ever made him feel such overwhelming fear.

Erald, Rebecca, and the rest of the Imperial Family shared the same terror.

Cold sweat soaked their clothes, and their knees trembled violently, ready to give out at any moment.

High above, Nolan observed everything without a flicker of emotion.

He extended his left hand and clenched it into a fist.

In an instant, a massive black magic circle appeared, expanding outward until it enveloped the entire capital.

Then, raising his right hand toward the heavens, he whispered, "Black... hole."

Whoosh!

The two colossal eyes vanished, replaced by a black hole the size of a house that formed in the sky.

Space twisted. The air froze. And moments later, everything within a fifty-kilometer radius was drawn toward it—including the capital city of Halveran.

Buildings—homes, hotels, government halls—began to rise from the ground, pulled upward into the swirling void.

Even the earth itself began to crack and lift, creating a scene of pure devastation.

Amazingly, the bodies of the unconscious citizens remained untouched, protected by the magic circle.

But the same couldn’t be said for the soldiers and the Imperial Family.

Daniel, Erald, Rebecca, the Empress, the concubines, and the other princes and princesses felt their bodies pulled upward—slowly, helplessly—into the sky.

"No! Save me!" The Empress screamed hysterically, reaching out toward Daniel.

"Carmilla, no!" Daniel shouted in horror, stretching his hand toward his wife.

By some miracle, he managed to catch her hand—but the force of the black hole began pulling his own body upward.

Damn it! he cursed, quickly reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small golden bell.

He rang the bell, and instantly, a golden light enveloped him, Carmilla, Rebecca, and Erald.

But the others were not so fortunate.

The remaining princes, princesses, and concubines could only scream in terror as they were pulled into the sky.

"No, Father! Help me!"

"Father! I don’t want to die! Please!"

"Your Majesty! Save me! Please!"

Their desperate cries echoed in Daniel’s ears, stabbing through him like blades.

Tears welled in his eyes as he cried out in anguish.

"I’m sorry... I’m so sorry... I couldn’t save you all..."
