CHAPTER 210: MYSTERIOUS FIGURES HIDING FROM THE WORLD (2)
"Me?" The shadow chuckled softly. "You don’t need to know, Singularity of Chaos. But one thing is certain—we have no malicious intent. You can rest easy on that."
"No evil intentions?" Nolan grinned coldly. "You handed that mysterious token to Mathias and caused this mess. Is that what you call not having evil intentions?"
An aura burst from his body, instantly making the atmosphere tense.
To be honest, he hated people like that—self-righteous, while their actions caused chaos or even mass death to innocent people.
To him, such people were nothing more than heartless psychopaths. Most of them were hypocrites who wielded more power than anyone else.
Of course, not every powerful person was like that, but most were.
The shadow only smiled and shook its head. "As my subordinate said, none of this is because of us. Mathias wanted revenge on his own. We merely gave him the means. Am I right?"
Nolan had no patience for pointless talk. Behind his mask, his expression stayed cold as he asked, "So, what are you here for? To save your subordinate?"
The shadow admitted without hesitation. "Yeah, that’s why I came. If I hadn’t intervened, he would’ve died at your hands."
The red-robed man didn’t take it well and immediately protested, "Master, do I look that weak to you? Forget the Singularity of Chaos—I could defeat seven of them at once!"
The shadow only glanced at him briefly before ignoring him. It looked back at Nolan from a distance and said casually, "So, I hope you can forget everything."
"Forget everything?" Nolan smiled sarcastically. "Fine, I’ll forget it. But I want the token in his hand. Give it to me, and I won’t make a fuss anymore."
Admittedly, he couldn’t deny the shadow’s words. Everything was indeed Mathias’ fault—they had only given him another way to pursue his revenge.
Still, he couldn’t let that dangerous object remain in their hands. If left unchecked, another disaster would surely come, and many more victims would fall.
"That token?" The shadow shook its head. "Sorry, I can’t. That token is important to me. Don’t expect us to hand it over."
Whoosh!
Nolan suddenly appeared in front of the red-robed man, pulling his right hand back.
"Well then, enough talk, damn it! You’re wasting my time!"
Bang!
His fist crashed into the man’s face, sending him flying nearly two kilometers away. Without pause, Nolan struck the shadow directly, smashing it to pieces.
"Argh!" The red-robed man shot out like a cannon, but before he could maneuver, the power of space pressed down and held him in place.
An instant later, Nolan reappeared in front of him and slammed another punch into his face, knocking him down into the ocean below.
Nolan rubbed his right hand and nodded in satisfaction. "That was a good punch. I haven’t felt that in a long time."
Buzz!
The space around him warped, catching him off guard. His body froze, as if an invisible hand were pressing him down.
Ten magic circles appeared above his head, and the next second, meteors, ice shards, and fireballs rained down.
Nolan opened his right eye, activating the Eyes of Chaos once more.
"Hellfire!"
Whoosh!
Like a tsunami, black flames surged out of thin air, colliding with the attacks and erupting in a tremendous explosion.
"The Eyes of Chaos... what a terrifying power," a cold voice came from behind him.
Nolan clenched his right fist, and the space restraining him shattered to pieces.
He turned and stared coldly at the black shadow. "The power of space? Seems I’ve found a worthy opponent."
The force that bound him earlier was indeed space power—similar to his own, though weaker. Still, it was enough to catch him off guard.
"Instead of hiding in the distance, show yourself and fight me," Nolan taunted. "Or... are you scared? Well, I can understand. After all, I am very strong."
At his mockery, a flicker of anger flashed in the shadow’s eyes, but it vanished just as quickly. It shook its head and replied coldly, "This is not the time. We will meet in person later. When that time comes, I hope you can still be arrogant, Singularity of Chaos."
Its tone was icy, filled with murderous intent. But Nolan remained unfazed.
For someone who had lived in the modern world and read countless fantasy novels and comics, such words were nothing but clichés—typical lines from a weak villain too cowardly to face the main character head-on.
The black shadow was no different. Clearly afraid, yet pretending to look cool just to save face. Classic and boring.
Boom!
An explosion rang out below as the red-robed man shot into the sky. He hovered beside the black shadow, rubbing his bruised face.
"Damn... that hurts!" he grumbled hatefully. His piercing red eyes locked on Nolan as he growled, "Singularity of Chaos, I’ll remember this! One day, I’ll repay you a thousandfold!"
When he finished, his body turned into flames and vanished. A moment later, the shadow disappeared as well.
Before leaving, however, its eyes briefly met Nolan’s Eyes of Chaos.
Its lips parted slightly, whispering, "We shall meet again, Singularity of Chaos..."
Whoosh!
It was swept away by the wind and vanished. Time returned to its normal flow, and the battle between the two warships and the sea monster carried on.
Nolan’s expression stayed calm, as if untouched by the shadow’s final words.
This feels strange, he muttered, clenching his right fist. It’s as if it and I know each other, yet I can’t figure out where that feeling comes from.
The shadow’s eyes, along with the space power it wielded, were far too similar to his own.
That should’ve been impossible—after all, only he possessed it.
Shaking off his thoughts, Nolan reached into his pocket and pulled out a black token engraved with a mysterious pattern.
If the red-robed man or the black shadow had seen it, they would’ve been shocked. It was the very token Mathias had used earlier to summon those terrifying monsters against him.
"They’re really stupid," Nolan chuckled softly. "They left without realizing this was already in my hands."
When he struck the red-robed man, Nolan had slipped in his left hand and used the power of space to steal the token hidden beneath the man’s robe.
Fortunately, neither of them noticed—or perhaps the shadow did notice but chose to remain silent, knowing it would be useless to resist him.
"And yet..." Nolan narrowed his eyes, staring at the token. "This thing is truly mysterious. Even the Eyes of Chaos can’t read it. Maybe I should ask the old man about it."
Without wasting time, his body dissolved into particles of light and vanished.
