CHAPTER 312: AN ELF?

Upon hearing this, Nolan looked a little surprised and asked, "What is it?"

Shion just smiled, giving no hint of an answer. Slowly, she slid off his lap and called out, "Luna, come here."

Not long after, the door to her study opened, and a little girl stepped in shyly.

She was short—about 1.42 meters tall. Her face was adorable, with chubby cheeks like little buns ready to be eaten.

Her golden-blonde hair fell long down her back. Her bangs were neatly cut straight across, and a small star-shaped ribbon adorned the right side of her hair.

Her golden eyes glowed beautifully, though they held a mix of fear and embarrassment.

The most striking feature, however, was her pointed, elongated ears—clearly not human.

Nolan’s eyes widened at the sight. "An... Elf? How is that possible?"

Shion chuckled softly and rubbed Luna’s head affectionately.

Luna lowered her gaze, unsure whether she felt discomfort or genuine enjoyment.

"Are you surprised? Hmmm... It’s really rare, you know?" Shion teased playfully.

"You..." The corners of Nolan’s mouth twitched slightly, but he quickly shook off his irritation and focused carefully on the girl.

"So, how did this happen? Explain it to me."

Shion rolled her eyes. "Didn’t I already tell you? It happened when one of my subordinates, Maria, and her soldiers went to the western region to investigate a kidnapping syndicate that had been causing trouble. According to the information I gathered, the syndicate was connected to the Red Obsidian Trading House."

"So, I sent Maria and her soldiers to wipe them out and collect enough evidence for us to attack Belfor during the previous trial. But unfortunately, that damn Belfor escaped—and the person who helped him was really annoying."

As she spoke, her gaze deliberately locked onto Nolan, as if mocking him.

Nolan didn’t get angry. He simply gave a wry smile, looked Luna up and down once more, and asked, "So, she’s one of the girls who was kidnapped by the syndicate, huh?"

"Bingo! Yes, you’re right," Shion confirmed. "This girl managed to survive and was the first person Maria and the soldiers found. And thanks to her, we were able to track down the syndicate’s headquarters and destroy it. Evidence of Belfor Horven’s involvement was also there, so it was like hitting two birds with one stone. Am I great, my dear Master?"

Her eyes sparkled with pride and a subtle longing for praise. As her master, how could Nolan not notice?

He chuckled softly and nodded. "Yes, you are great—so great that I no longer have any doubts about entrusting everything to you. Thank you, Shion."

Thump!

Shion’s heart skipped a beat at his words. Her body grew warm, and her face flushed slightly.

It was very rare for her master to praise her, and it turned out that such praise was truly intoxicating.

Noticing something unusual about Shion, Nolan promptly snapped her out of her reverie.

"Ahem! So, what are you going to do with her? Keep her and make her your maid?"

The girl’s clothes clearly marked her as a maid, so the question was technically unnecessary. Still, Nolan needed to be sure.

Keep in mind, the Elves lived deep in the forests on the far side of the continent. They rarely appeared in human lands, let alone interacted with humans.

Since the fall of the Demon Emperor long ago, this continent had become a place for humans to build their own era.

Elves were known to be friendly, but they could be merciless if someone harmed one of their own. However, not everyone knew—including humans—that one of the seven Singularities, the Singularity of Life, had originated from the Elves.

Yes, the Singularity of Life. If this information leaked, the entire continent would be thrown into chaos. After all, the Elves were the most inconspicuous race compared to others.

Many forgot, though, that the Elves had an extraordinarily long history—far longer than humans or demons.

So it made perfect sense that one of the Singularities came from among them.

Nolan only worried that if Shion made even the slightest mistake, the wrath of the Elves could befall her. It was not impossible that the Singularity of Life herself would intervene.

Of course, as long as Nolan was around, the old woman wouldn’t dare act recklessly. Still, being highly calculating, Nolan preferred to avoid unnecessary conflict.

In response to his question, Shion smiled and explained, "At first, I planned to make her my personal maid. But I realized I’m not used to being cared for by maids. So, for now, I’m employing her as my tea and coffee maker."

She pinched Luna’s cheek gently, causing the girl’s face to flush red like an apple.

"So that’s how it is..." Nolan nodded slightly.

"What’s the matter, Master? Do you want her? If so, I’ll give her to you," Shion said bluntly.

For Shion, whatever belonged to her also belonged to Nolan. She wasn’t afraid of losing anything—not even her own life.

She had become who she was because of his support. Giving Luna to him was nothing in comparison.

Meanwhile, Luna lowered her head nervously at Shion’s words, though she couldn’t help sneaking glances at Nolan, captivated by his striking appearance.

If I stay with him...

she began, but before she could finish, her face flushed a deep pomegranate red.

"No, I won’t take her from you," Nolan replied firmly. "But there’s one thing I need to be sure of."

His gaze sharpened, locking onto Luna. "Can you tell me your real name, Luna? And why were you kidnapped by those criminals?"

Luna hesitated for a moment before speaking softly. "My name is Luna Caelion, and the reason I was kidnapped is..."

She explained everything in detail. Five minutes later, Nolan finally understood why she had ended up here.

"There’s one more thing I need to confirm," Nolan continued earnestly. "What is your relationship with Sylvia Caelion?"

"Sylvia Caelion?" Luna’s eyes widened. "That’s my mother’s name. How do you know her?"

Sylvia Caelion was her mother—the current Queen of the Elves. Luna was no ordinary elf; she was a high elf of the royal family, with a status both prestigious and honorable.

Nolan’s expression turned serious, which immediately confused Shion.

"Master, why did your expression change? Who is Sylvia Caelion?"

Shion didn’t fully understand the family tree of the Elf race, so Nolan’s sudden shift in demeanor puzzled her.

"Sylvia Caelion is the current Elf Queen," Nolan said succinctly, leaving Shion instantly shocked.

"So... You’re an Elf princess, Luna? Why didn’t you tell me?"

She suddenly realized that the girl she had been treating as a mere coffee maker was actually the princess of the Elf kingdom. That could easily be seen as an insult to the Elf race.

If the Elves found out... wouldn’t that be extremely dangerous?

"I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to hide it. I just thought you wouldn’t believe me if I told you," Luna said, her voice tinged with guilt.

Shion was silent for a moment, then let out a deep sigh. "Alright, I understand. It’s okay."

"One more question, Luna," Nolan’s voice drew both of their attention. "Do you have any connection to Seria Caelion?"

"Seria Caelion?" Luna froze. "How do you know my grandmother’s name?"

"Grandmother, huh?" Nolan smiled faintly, a knowing glint in his eyes. Tsk... this is truly incredible luck.

Seria Caelion was no ordinary elf—she was the one Nolan had mentioned earlier: the Singularity of Life.
