The hivemind is conquering for me?
Chapter 508: New Haunts
CHAPTER 508: NEW HAUNTS
Savitri walked inside the room and immediately began to feel a surge of emotion as he looked at the woman whose back was turned to him. The sadness and excitement for the long path ahead battled in his mind, but he knew what would be victorious, it was just the vestige of his old life haunting him. After all, he really did love his.
"Mother." He declared to the woman who was pouring herself a drink from some fine looking glassware. "I did not expect you for a couple more days, dear son. This is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."
Turning around after she had made her drink was a Fifty year old woman that had retained her youth. Her high cheekbones and expressive narrow eyes alongside the woman’s complexion, which was glowing and radiant with a pearly white smile in contrast to her ruby red lips screamed at the room ’I know everything.’
Her entire demeanour radiated confidence and sophistication with the only tell that she was an elder individual was the silver thick and luscious hair that cascaded down her back in effortless waves
She wore a white pantsuit with a heavy deep cleavage, that clearly meant to have a top underneath that she did not wear and paired well with her Golden jewellery and ruby gemstones
All in all, she looked and acted the part of a mafia queen down to her slightest mannerisms, such as observing the confidence in her son’s posture, which immediately crumbled. Covering his eyes, he averted his gaze.
"Mother! Wear a blouse or something! You are too exposed." He said, causing her to smile as she looked down at her outfit. "Heh! Oopsie, I had a communication with the tithe manager before Wendy arrived, giving him a little peek was all it took for him to become negligent."
She watched her son as she said that, he squirmed slightly at the image inside of his head, but he did not press the matter, this pleased her as he was always a little clingy about her. This mattered little though. With her husband away on business, she wanted answers to her questions now.
"Savitri, is the package secure? I do not see it with you, nor do I see your escort. What has happened?" Savitri took in a large breath, expecting this questioning, as he fully knew what she expected to hear. He knew how he was. He was just grateful his master had opened his eyes.
"With the Sharktooths ambushing us, forcing us to lay low for the month, my detail had an inkling that there might be another attack, a skirmish at most, when we arrived home. They told me I should split from them, let them be bait to draw any would-be attacker out. I agreed as they are heavily implanted and can handle themselves in home waters. They still have the package and should be back here within the day."
She listened to her son with a great deal of surprise. She knew her Savitri, or she thought she did. She would have expected him to want the attention of being in charge of the package. It was important to his father after all and his need for validation after the massacre was staggering. This left her to ask.
"What has happened Savitri, my dear. You seem different. More sure of yourself. Come, tell Mama." She reached into the bottom draw of her desk and pulled out a bottle of alcohol that was infused with Twaupo.
She then went back into the drawer to retrieve her bottle opener for Savitri, but became stunned as he picked it up and flicked the cap off with his thumb before taking a sip. ’Ok, what the fuck is going on?’
Savitri suddenly felt a chill go down his spine as his mother gave him ’that’ look and proceeded to spill the fabricated beans. "I met a woman. A woman I deeply care about, I have taken stock of my life and realised that if I wish to be with her, I need to change a lot about how I have been these last few years."
After saying his piece, his mothers gaze only intensified, causing him to sip on his bottle for comfort. The gaze continued for a while before she shook her head. "A woman? Really? For shits sake Savitri, I could un-"
She was then abruptly cut off, something she was not accustomed to, but what her son told her, caused her eyes to go wide with elation. "-She is a fellow Diathaorite. Her father is from there."
Those simple words and she was already hearing wedding bells. ’He has found an actual woman? Not all this Spartari street trash? No...’ She needed more information before she pulled in the kin. "This new friend of yours... Is she on Atlantis right now? Or did you part ways?"
His mothers gaze was starting to freak him out, he had never seen her so interested and hooked on every word he had to say. He quenched his first another time before replying. "She is here on business. She is looking to expand her portfolio by investing in a series of local businesses while also setting up shop here herself.
The phantom bells became even louder in her head. A clearly well off lady of Diathaman descent? This was perfect! She needed the final piece of the puzzle. "Her name child, tell me the name of my daughter to be!"
Savitri gulped hard. Both from his mothers reaction and how his master will react when she learns the role she might have to take on to blend in... Clearing his throat, he began. "Her name is..."
Suddenly the door barged open. "Lady Zorina an emergency has-" "-This better be important you Re- Tell me what has happened." Zorina said, composing herself. "Our smuggling vessels were attacked during their way from one of the black reefs."
Zorina inhaled sharply. "Leave." She commanded the intruder, who gave a not so subtle look of surprise towards her son. "I said leave before I have a lamprey attached to your testicles!" The man delivering the news needed no further reason to stay and ran out of the room, causing Zorina to sigh.
"Sorry Savitri, I need to go and deal with this. We will discuss this more at dinner tomorrow, your papa should be home then." She then stood up, walked around her desk and kissed her son on the forehead before leaving.
After his mother left the room, Savitri let out a heavy breath of relief. ’Fuck, I am not cut out for this. It’s like she was reading my every micromovement with those eyes...’ His mother was always very smart when it came to reading people. It was honestly quite fortunate that he was still looked down upon, even by his loving mother.
Now he had reprieve and was home safe, a thought occurred to him. ’ I wonder if master has begun already?’
...
Licking the blood from her hands, Samantha then spat it out in disgust. "Augh, the fuck has this guy been eating?" It wasn’t often she came across a bad meal, but by Apollo, she swore that was the worst thing she had ever put in her mouth.
Samantha looked around at her surroundings. Dim and dank. The whole area had faulty lights that just barely worked and above her a gigantic dome with more said lights and past that? Pure blackness. Darker than space.
Samantha was nearly seven thousand meters below the oceans surface. The place was run down and just barely holding on. In fact, the only reason she believed the entire reef was still here and had not been destroyed yet was the wildlife that had taken over great swathes of the dome. Biological patching in oxygen rich cracks, only the occasional drip instead of mass flooding.
Still, this place. The people. They were desperate. They were poorer than poor and almost every single individual down here, that was not some form of sexual assaulter like the man whose heart she had just ripped out, was clearly on drugs, been on drugs, was waiting for more drugs or was dealing drugs.
This place was grim and the people down here needed an outlet. An escape. Honestly... It was perfect. Being a former addict herself, she knew exactly how to manipulate every kind of druggie there was.
The hopeless reformers, she could sway easily with the promise of a new life, those with low will? Simple, get her addicted to her drug. Her poison. Then she will be able to get them to do anything for their next fix.
This place was a paradise. No laws, only small-time crime rings that she could take over easily and most importantly isolated. The only way to get this far down was one singular, heavily guarded elevator that descended for two thousand meters from the next closest reef.
This place wasn’t just the birthplace of a new bio cult... Samantha smiled evilly as she looked at the pool of blood below her feet.
This was her new hunting ground.
