CHAPTER 526: ’IS THAT A WYRM!’

With my hand still through the ring on the rope, I looked out over in the distance, past the cove. Excitement and nervousness reinvigorating my previously exhausted body. I watched as the peaceful lake suddenly became turbulent in a large swathe in the distance before seconds later a gigantic emerald green structure emerged from the water and leaped up high into the air.

My eyes went wide in awe and shock as the beast reached the pinnacle of its jump. ’Is that a Wyrm!’ I thought as my mouth refused to close

In the air at the peak of its jump was a gigantic roughly thirty meter long Emerald green serpent like creature. The creature’s body was covered in scales that glistened as the water still on its body absorbed the light of the sun shining down on it. It had a set of dorsal fins hallway down its body and many more at the base of its tail. and a series of spinal spikes down its entire back. The creature’s head looked magnificent. With wispy tendrils cascading from its chin and atop its head. Its maw was sleek and narrow. In all, it looked more a work of art than a goliath creature.

A million questions erupted in my mind, but I was once more distracted as even from this distance, I could tell its beady black eyes were staring at us as it began its descent. In my stupor of seeing something so mythological to me, I forgot that I, we, were still holding onto the rope...

As its massive body collided with the water, a torrent multiple buildings high, erupted from its point of landing and the creature was gone once again, only this time, with us being unbraced, the line yanked.

I felt a jolt, followed by a sense of weightlessness before finally feeling myself submerged in the water. I surfaced quickly as fortunately, the rope dissipated shortly after I was yanked and was still in the cove.

Coughing fits all around were what I heard for a few moments as some of the men were non-consensually hydrated. The coughing died out quickly though and a silence took over all of us as we looked between one another.

And then, in a moment of man brain, we all cheered. "Whooo! "Yeah baby!" "That was fucking nuts!" "Did you see that thing!" "Oww! Guys can you help! My shoulder has fallen out of its socket!" "We fucking did it! We saw the beast! "Seriously guys, I’m struggling to swim right now! "You!"

Iilr pointed at me and shouted before swimming over, hugging me impatiently, causing us both to submerge for a moment. But that did not stop his excitement as when he submerged he was screaming.

"Freshman! My good luck charm! I can’t believe we saw the beast! Tell me your name, you and those who participated this day have my gratitude for all time! You have made yourself an ally for life!"

I laughed with Iilr, the excitement still infectious before replying. "I’m Apollo, It was my honour to be a part of this Iilr, I mean, what a beautiful creature. I never thought I would see a Wyrm. What a sight to behold."

"A worm? Haha! Just because we got it to breach doesn’t mean we can go insulting the big fucker." Iilr said, causing me to open my mouth to reply, but a chant of oi! oi! oi! started sounding from everyone and Iilr joined in.

A crowd began forming on the banks of the cove as passerby’s clearly saw such a large creature in the air, on top of the sudden rainfall it created for a few dozen seconds. As I was looking around, I suddenly heard a motor coming from the direction of the cove entrance and a small one person boat was going full speed into the cove.

"Oh shit! oh shit! oh shit! oh shit! Oh-" I heard as I saw the man speed past and beach his small boat before running for his life. The whole group spotted this before another explosion of guffaws sounded.

"Hahaha! I bet the poor fucker was in the drink when the beast emerged! He probably shat himself!" "Heck, I nearly shat myself and I was standing on the beach, I don’t blame the poor fucker hahaha!"

A series of quips at the man’s expense continued to sound before I started to have enough. I was used to quieter company and had one such friend waiting on the jetty staring at me. After saying goodbye and the series of cheers that came with it I began to swim back.

’Apollo, can we talk for a moment?’ I suddenly heard through a special link in my Mindspace. ’Sol? What’s up?’ I asked, surprised. Sol is usually content with just observing during the day, so my intrigue was piqued.

’Nothing is ’up’ Apollo. I am just reminding you about your tendency to see similarities and differences between your old life and this one. I thought I would let you know, now you have witnessed the creature, that it is not this Wyrm creature you have stated. It is a one of a kind skink that has been imbued with a large amount of water concept and this galaxy’s unique energy and turned into a Psionic being. I am sorry if I have put a dampen on your mood by revealing this to you, I just thought you should know.’

I was surprised to hear this from Sol, she usually kept Psionic stuff locked behind those fiery lips of hers to not throw off the balance of things and to follow the rules imposed on her. ’No not at all, actually thank you for telling me. It is cool to know that common beings can turn into something so surreal. Also, what is this unique Galaxy energy you mentioned?’

The link between us cut off, causing me to chuckle ’Fine, have it your way.’ I said playfully through the link that everyone could hear. ’To think we would be making out later if you gave up that information Sol.’ I teased and as the water got wadable I thought for a final time. ’Really nothing? Ok then, I won’t push.’

When my link severed, Onyx turned around, the chains around her link loosely rattling as she asked. "What information? Do I possess this information? I would very much like to know so I can get kisses!" She asked urgently, like she didn’t get kisses all the time.

Sol looked towards her a moment before she took the form of a ball of fire in place of her ’desirable’ form and began hovering away towards the golden section of Apollo’s mind. Touching it with a wisp of energy, Something that Irked Onyx as she was incapable of doing so.

With the ball of flame being a useless source, she turned to her room mate whose ears twitched, knowing she was being observed. "Sapphire, come on. It’s me. You can relay your intent to me about the information Apollo asked for. Come on, we are like family."

Sapphire opened her eyes and slowly stood up before stretching with a lax attitude. She then began walking over towards the new resident of the Mindspace before getting as close to it as she could before lying back down. It was much closer than Onyx could get after all.

"Grrrr." Onyx growled, not even bothering to say anything to the bad cat. She would use her powers, but with all the abundance of Psionic individuals, the future is incredibly distorted at the moment and using her powers here could change her future too much, something she wanted to avoid as the current track was simply perfect.

Unfortunately, her perfect vision for the future was disturbed as she was reminded of the thing she was sharing a living space with. She wasn’t sure how her universe was coping having it inside of his Mindspace, She was both sickened and impressed simultaneously.

She had managed to mentally block it out, but she would need Apollo cuddles later to settle herself again. Still, she could distract herself for now and continue to watch her universe being the most handsome and oblivious mate ever.

"Apollo, are you ok?" Gabrielle ran right up to me as I emerged from the water. "Yeah, I am fine, thanks for asking. Did you see the beast though? What a sight it was! So worth the fact that my legs now feel like jelly."

Hearing her son speak with that twinge of excitement in his voice had all her worries of seeing him get yanked into the water like that, vanish. "I did, it was hard not to. A beautiful creature, makes me glad that Leondis had it protected. I don’t think you would see something like that anywhere else in the galaxy... Well, at least in our empire at least, who knows what goes on in Coalition space." She said.

She then noticed my current state as I was dripping head to toe and my clothes were soaked through. "Stay here for a moment Apollo and I will get you a towel to dry off." She said, prompting me to reply. "What? I thought you wanted to go for a swim? I can stay wet a bit longer."

Gabrielle smiled warmly. "No, that is ok, the moment has passed, besides, we need to get you out of those clothes before you catch a cold..." I was touched by Gabrielle’s care. It was nice meeting someone that despite a shaky past between us in regards to her job, she seemed genuinely caring. To ease her worries I raised my hands and said.

"No need." Before simply using my Thermokinesis to dry myself off.
