The Ice King's Little Trouble Maker
Chapter 106 - 102: Gu Family’s Female Head
CHAPTER 106: CHAPTER 102: GU FAMILY’S FEMALE HEAD
Gu Mansion
Ever since Gu Yanjing arrived, not just the front hall, but even the people outside the courtyard have quieted down significantly.
Everyone lowered their voices a bit, and their attention, whether overt or covert, was focused on Qiao Yuxian.
They were all observing this pretty girl’s words and actions, pondering over her background, and speculating how this girl married into the Gu Family, and what Gu Yanjing’s feelings towards her were.
They wondered what kind of person she really is, whether she is easy to deal with.
And whether she is approachable.
Qiao Yuxian, of course, knew that everyone was watching her.
But she wasn’t nervous at all, letting them observe as she chatted with the old sir and Mr. and Mrs. Gu Linhai.
With a gentle smile on her face and a soft voice, she appeared very easy to get along with.
As she chatted, she slowly began to roll up her sleeves.
Gu Yanjing noticed her movement and slightly tilted his head to look at her.
Watching her lift her left sleeve without bowing her head, revealing a section of her fair and slender wrist. Then she moved to roll up the right sleeve.
As the right sleeve was rolled up, the Peace Pendant on her wrist was exposed.
With everyone’s attention on her, every little movement she made was noted.
Especially the red Peace Pendant, which was quite conspicuous against her fair skin, and when exposed, drew some glances.
While listening to Meng Qian speak, Qiao Yuxian’s eyes were looking in the direction of the couple.
Both of them glanced slightly at her wrist, then continued chatting with her.
The old sir took a quick glance at her wrist, then picked up his teacup and took a sip.
Gu Yanjing, however, kept looking down at her wrist.
The sleeves of her jacket today weren’t short, completely covering the wrists.
So from Fenglin Villa to now, Gu Yanjing just noticed that she was wearing the Peace Pendant on her right hand.
During the day at the company, it had been on her left hand.
Qiao Yuxian saw him watching her and turned to him, saying, "It’s a bit warm."
Gu Yanjing didn’t say anything and shifted his gaze away from her hand.
Just now, the two people Ji Xiaoxiao called over, uncle and aunt, were still there and hadn’t left.
Listening to Qiao Yuxian chatting with them, they also joined in.
No one introduced who they were to Qiao Yuxian, or how to address them, but she still managed to chat quite well with them.
This aunt asked a few questions, seeing that she was easy to talk to, then suddenly inquired, "May I know which family Yuxian hails from? We don’t often stay in the Capital City, so we’re not very familiar with it. Since we’ll all be family in the future, it’s good to pay a visit when we have time."
Qiao Yuxian looked at her, her expression remaining warm and gentle.
Yet before she could speak, Gu Yanjing, who had been silent, spoke up: "Aunt, just remember that she is the mistress of the Gu Family, you needn’t worry about anything else."
A simple, light remark, yet it felt as heavy as a thousand weights in the ear.
Aunt’s family instantly went silent, sitting there as if they suddenly shrank a size, not daring to say another unnecessary word.
Gu Yanjing’s voice wasn’t low, and he wasn’t only speaking to her; he was addressing everyone.
Letting them know that Qiao Yuxian is now the mistress of the Gu Family, and advising them all to behave and not to harbor any ill intentions towards her.
Once his words were spoken, everyone became more well-behaved at heart.
They were truly afraid of Gu Yanjing.
When Gu Yanjing became head at such a young age, there were many who tried to obstruct him with bad intentions.
At a mere teenage age, no one took him seriously.
Yet in the end, they were all thoroughly dealt with by him.
All these years, even if some still harbored resentment, no one dared to act out.
The old sir glanced at him, revealing a satisfied smile.
Qiao Yuxian also gave Gu Yanjing a look, then couldn’t help but stifle a laugh with a light cough.
Gu Yanjing raised his hand and rubbed her face with the back of his hand.
Ji Xiaoxiao stared blankly at their interaction, fiddling with her hands placed on her leg.
What went wrong, why did she feel like she was witnessing some surreal scene?
...
As dinner time approached, everyone headed to the Qingyue Building in the back courtyard.
The Qingyue Building is a dining hall at the Gu Mansion, built to the scale of a restaurant.
When there are many people, meals are always held there.
Once the old sir spoke, everyone started heading in that direction. The mansion also has cars, so those who don’t want to walk can take a ride over.
Gu Yanjing and Qiao Yuxian also stood up, making way for the old sir to walk through.
As the old sir rose, he glanced at Gu Yanjing, then said to Qiao Yuxian, "Yuxian, let Shang Chen and Su Qi accompany you first, I have a few words with Yanjing."
"Alright." Qiao Yuxian responded, and was about to leave with Shang Chen and Su Qi.
But Gu Yanjing held her back.
The old sir saw their hands joined and went silent: "......"
He gave his grandson a disdainful look.
Is it dignified to be so clingy with your cold demeanor?
"Hm?" Qiao Yuxian looked at him in confusion.
Gu Yanjing moved his lips but didn’t say anything, then looked towards Su Qi.
Su Qi received the look and understood at once. Mr. Gu is afraid that if his boss’s wife isn’t by his side in the Gu Mansion, someone might bully her or harm her.
He nodded in agreement.
Gu Yanjing let Qiao Yuxian go, and after seeing her leave, he went upstairs with the old sir.
In the study, the old sir mostly advised him not to conflict with Gu Zhengyu.
The two of them don’t see eye to eye normally.
Whenever they meet, it’s as if they want to destroy each other. This year Gu Yanjing has already taken action against Gu Zhengyu again.
If they meet again, the old sir feared neither would hold back.
"In previous years, let it be. You do as you please, but this year you’ve brought Yuxian back, don’t scare her." The old sir said.
Gu Yanjing looked at him, his calm eyes seemingly able to see through the old sir.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Am I wrong?" The old sir, riled up, said, "Besides, why did you bring her here? So many people, each like wolves, can’t you think of her safety?"
Gu Yanjing remained silent.
The old sir’s concern for Qiao Yuxian was evident ever since he forced him to marry.
It was as if Qiao Yuxian was his own granddaughter and he himself was marrying into the family.
"Why aren’t you speaking?" The old sir pressed on, "Also! You brought her here, yet she doesn’t even have a wedding ring on her hand, what do you let everyone think? Think!"
Gu Yanjing frowned.
The old sir, gripping his cane, said, "Luckily, you performed well today. Otherwise, how would Yuxian end up being bullied by them? How long has it been? Is the Gu family bankrupt? Can’t even afford a ring? What are you doing!"
Unable to hear his response, the old sir, filled with anger, raised his cane as if to strike.
He lifted it high, stopped near Gu Yanjing’s arm, but he didn’t let it fall. He looked at him and said, "Why aren’t you dodging?"
Gu Yanjing glanced at him without saying a word.
"Do you know you were wrong?" The old sir put down the cane and hummed, "At least you understand a bit."
"I’m afraid if I dodge, you’ll lose your grip and fall." Gu Yanjing said mercilessly.
"You..." The old sir’s eyes widened.
Gu Yanjing looked at him.
Unable to do anything, the old sir sighed and said, "Let’s go! It’s time to eat!"
Gu Yanjing stepped aside, letting him go first.
The old sir walked over to him, extending his arm, "Guide me."
Gu Yanjing guided him.
The old sir, feeling content, moved on.
