The Ice King's Little Trouble Maker
Chapter 144 - 131: Sharing the Bed, Except for You
CHAPTER 144: CHAPTER 131: SHARING THE BED, EXCEPT FOR YOU
In the evening, Qin Xia and Qiao Yuxian shared a room.
Aunt Mei had already prepared the guest room for her, but she insisted on sleeping in the same room as Qiao Yuxian.
So Gu Yanjing watched her and Qiao Yuxian enter a room together.
A short while later, Qiao Yuxian came out to bring Zhaocai into the room.
Aunt Mei, watching this scene from downstairs, thought to herself while heading back to her room: really, anyone can share a room and a bed with the madam, including a dog, but not her husband. Sigh—
When will the old man’s great-grandson finally arrive?
Gu Yanjing stood by the door, watching Qiao Yuxian take Zhaocai back into the room. Qiao Yuxian obediently smiled at him.
Why even Zhaocai raised its head, glanced at him as it passed by, and deliberately gave him a look when entering the room.
Watching its disappearing figure, Gu Yanjing’s eyes gradually turned fierce, as he started contemplating how to deal with the dog without upsetting Qiao Yuxian.
While thinking, Qiao Yuxian opened the door again.
He looked at Qiao Yuxian poking her little head out, blinking her lovely, lively eyes.
The fierceness in his eyes immediately softened as he looked at her.
Qiao Yuxian clung to the door frame, smiling at him for two seconds, then toddled over to him and bumped into his arms, hugging his waist.
Gu Yanjing instinctively raised his hand to hold her, looking down at her.
Qiao Yuxian tilted her head up, looking into his eyes, and asked, "Are you upset?"
Looking at her bright, twinkling eyes filled with laughter, Gu Yanjing paused and replied, "No."
"Not sincere," Qiao Yuxian said with a smile.
Gu Yanjing stroked her face without saying a word.
Qiao Yuxian said, "When Qin Xia leaves, I’ll be with you. Don’t be upset. You’ll also have a chance to mess with Zhaocai."
Gu Yanjing playfully flicked her nose with a finger.
Qiao Yuxian chuckled, leaned on his shoulder for a while, and then let go, saying, "I’m going to sleep."
"Don’t stay up too late," Gu Yanjing reminded her.
"Okay. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
...
Just as Gu Yanjing expected.
After Qiao Yuxian returned to the room, it took them almost three hours to wash up and do skincare. Finally, when they lay down, they turned on the projector and watched a movie while chatting.
Zhaocai lay between the two of them.
Either she petted it, or she petted it.
Especially Qin Xia was rather heavy-handed.
Zhaocai was quite worried it might end up bald by morning.
So a little past four in the morning, after they dozed off while chatting, it jumped off the bed, unplugged the projector with its mouth, turned it off, and went to the bay window by itself.
Because it knew clearly that after they fell asleep, they’d be even more frightening than when they were awake.
The two of them never slept peacefully.
Usually, when Qiao Yuxian was alone, she’d toss and turn endlessly; sometimes it couldn’t bear it and would go to sleep by the bay window.
Knowing she didn’t sleep well, Qiao Yuxian had specially placed Zhaocai’s bed on the bay window to let it sleep comfortably.
Today it was the two of them; to stay safe, Zhaocai ran away as soon as they fell asleep.
And as it feared.
From the time they fell asleep, half an hour after, until waking up past noon the next day, it was a miracle one hadn’t kicked the other off the bed.
Past twelve, Gu Yanjing had already had lunch and was sitting on the living room sofa, noticing the upstairs room door hadn’t opened yet.
His gaze fell on Chu Zhengran sitting across from him, who had come over early in the morning.
Chu Zhengran dressed casually, with his legs crossed, leaning back in the sofa.
His posture was good; even sitting lazily gave off a gentle impression. Seeing Gu Yanjing looking at him, he gave a slight smile.
Gu Yanjing said coldly, "Why haven’t you left yet?"
Chu Zhengran smiled without responding.
Gu Yanjing gave him another cold look, then averted his gaze, too lazy to bother with him.
Chu Zhengran looked at him and said, "Still sleeping in separate rooms with Miss Qiao?"
Gu Yanjing lifted his eyes to look at him.
"Okay, I get it," Chu Zhengran drawled, "You’re the one being forced into marriage, and you haven’t given in yet."
Gu Yanjing’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Facing his murderous look, Chu Zhengran added, "Keep guarding your purity."
"I’m married. No matter what, I’m pure," Gu Yanjing said coldly, expressionless, "But you, for whom have you guarded your purity all these years?"
Chu Zhengran’s smile froze.
Feeling a stab in his chest, the pain was fierce.
He’s married!
He’s married!
He’s married!
Why did these words seem to carry a hint of boasting?
He’s married, whether or not he shared a room, he was pure. Sharing a room, it was only for that one person, and he was still pure.
But what about him?
Chu Zhengran choked on a mouthful of blood.
He felt Gu Yanjing was calling him a wild man.
He took a deep breath, full of regret.
Really, after over twenty years, he still hadn’t learned his lesson, stirring up trouble with him for no reason.
"You’ve eaten, had tea, sat on the sofa, it’s about time to leave," Gu Yanjing said, not even looking at him as he urged him to go.
Chu Zhengran sat steadily on the sofa, ignoring his words.
Gu Yanjing didn’t pay him any more attention.
The two sat quietly in the living room. About five minutes later, there was some noise from upstairs.
First, the door opened, followed by the sound of their bickering.
Gu Yanjing and Chu Zhengran looked up towards the upstairs. Though they couldn’t see them, they could see the room door upstairs swinging back and forth.
"Me first!" Qin Xia exclaimed.
"Me first," Qiao Yuxian also said.
"I really need to go." Qin Xia pulled the door, trying to push her outside.
"Who doesn’t?" Qiao Yuxian clung to the door, refusing to leave, "Why didn’t you wake up earlier if you needed to go so badly, waiting until I woke up?"
"Nonsense, I woke you up," Qin Xia said.
"How dare you say that! You kicked me on the butt," Qiao Yuxian shouted.
"So what if I kicked you?" Qin Xia retorted, "Last night, your hand was on my chest."
Gu Yanjing immediately withdrew his gaze from upstairs, and Chu Zhengran averted his eyes elsewhere too.
The arguing continued upstairs, "Hurry up, go to another bathroom."
"No, why don’t you go to another bathroom," Qiao Yuxian clung to the door, unwilling to move.
Zhaocai sat at the door, quietly watching the two of them.
The expression seemed to say: you two are not really in a hurry.
"I’m a guest," Qin Xia stated.
"You’re a damn guest. What kind of guest behaves like a bandit in the host’s house?" As soon as Qiao Yuxian finished speaking, Qin Xia pushed her out of the room.
The door closed.
Qiao Yuxian stood with hands on hips, staring at her room door. After a few seconds, she stomped a foot in frustration, then turned and headed to the study room.
After a few steps, she caught a glimpse of someone downstairs out of the corner of her eye. She only saw Gu Yanjing clearly, not knowing who the guest was, and realizing she was in pajamas, not fitting to meet guests, she quickly ran off.
After using the bathroom in the study room, the living room was empty.
Qiao Yuxian looked around, seeing no one, quickly dashed back to the bedroom...
