CHAPTER 156: CHAPTER 143: ARRESTING PEOPLE OVERNIGHT

Mr. Gu returned to the room, and Qiao Yuxian had already rolled to the foot of the bed, one leg hanging off the edge, her foot just barely not touching the ground.

Mr. Gu put down the medicine box and moved her further onto the bed while holding her.

Qiao Yuxian opened her eyes and glanced at him, then closed them again. After a while, she murmured, "Why did you come back so quickly?"

"To apply some medicine," Mr. Gu replied.

Qiao Yuxian turned over to lie on the bed, struggling to move her lips: "No rush, you can do it later."

Mr. Gu sat by the bed, placed her leg on his own leg, and rolled up her fallen pants before saying, "Go back to sleep."

"Mm."

Qiao Yuxian answered and then fell asleep.

Mr. Gu gently applied the medicine on her.

His movements were very gentle, not disturbing Qiao Yuxian’s sleep at all.

After applying the medicine, he lowered his head and gently blew on it.

However, as he blew, the cool sensation brushed against her skin, and Qiao Yuxian suddenly sat up from the bed.

It was as if she had hit some kind of spring switch, getting up abruptly.

Mr. Gu looked at her.

Qiao Yuxian widened her eyes and frowned, her little expression looking a bit cold. But when she met Mr. Gu’s gaze and saw his face, her expression softened again.

Sleepiness climbed back onto her face, and with her eyes downcast, she grumbled softly and aggrievedly, "I thought some jerk was violating me."

Qiao Yuxian didn’t lie back down; she moved forward a bit, both legs resting on Mr. Gu’s lap, then leaned against his shoulder: "So sleepy."

"Don’t run around at night anymore, go to bed earlier." Mr. Gu looked at her and continued to apply the medicine for her.

Qiao Yuxian didn’t speak anymore, continuing to sleep while leaning on him.

Mr. Gu applied the medicine cautiously, fearing to wake her, so his movements were very light and slow.

After he finished, he held her up, placed her back on the bed, and covered her with a blanket.

He leaned over to look at her for a while, and eventually couldn’t resist, his hand touching the top of her head as he leaned further down to kiss her gently on the forehead.

Then he left the room and walked out.

Lying in bed and seemingly fast asleep, Qiao Yuxian heard the door open and close again. After a few seconds, her closed eyelashes fluttered, a blush appeared on her face, and a small curve lifted at the corner of her mouth.

A moment later, she rolled over, hugged the blanket to her chest, and buried her face in it, leaving just one little red ear exposed.

Qiao Yuxian slept until one in the afternoon before waking up.

She was woken up by thirst.

She looked around the room for water but couldn’t find any, so she left the room and headed towards the study.

When she got to the study’s door, she noticed someone downstairs, so she first glanced down.

She saw Mr. Gu and Su Qi sitting below.

Mr. Gu happened to look up at her too.

After a glance, his gaze fell on the mark on her face.

Feeling him looking at her face, Qiao Yuxian touched it and then leaned against the corridor railing, saying, "I’m thirsty."

Mr. Gu stood up to get her some water.

Su Qi immediately stood aside.

Qiao Yuxian lay against the railing, unwilling to move, waiting for Mr. Gu to bring the water up. But as she waited, she suddenly saw Zhaocai crouched in the eastern corner of the living room, staring at something.

It looked like a white cage.

From its back, you could tell it was serious.

Serious enough that even though it was in the living room and she just spoke, it didn’t rush upstairs.

Qiao Yuxian felt ignored.

She got up and started walking downstairs.

Halfway down the stairs, Mr. Gu was emerging from the kitchen with the water and had just reached the stairway.

Seeing her coming down, he stayed put at the bottom of the stairs.

Qiao Yuxian reached the bottom, took the water from his hand, drank it in one go, and then handed the empty glass back to him: "Don’t you have to go to the office today?"

Su Qi just watched as his Mr. Gu was ordered around like this.

"Mm." Mr. Gu looked at the imprint on her face.

Qiao Yuxian glanced at him, then looked over at Zhaocai, and walked straight towards Zhaocai.

"Zhaocai."

Hearing the voice, Zhaocai immediately turned to look at her, wagging its tail instantly.

As it reached her side, it bit her clothes, leading her to the corner.

Qiao Yuxian followed it, peering at the large cage in the corner. As she approached, she discovered a little cat curled up in the corner of the cage.

Perhaps intimidated by Zhaocai’s presence nearby, the little cat was curled up into a ball.

From afar, Qiao Yuxian had always thought it was Zhaocai’s toy that had fallen into the cage, hence why he was pulling her over to get it.

"Ah." Qiao Yuxian exclaimed softly, immediately kneeling down on the floor to peek into the cage, "What is this? Whose little cutie is this?"

As she called out, the little cat curled up even tighter inside.
