The Ice King's Little Trouble Maker
Chapter 321 - 294 Argument
CHAPTER 321: CHAPTER 294 ARGUMENT
Gu Mansion Backyard
After Qiao Yuxian calmed down, she and Gu Yanjing strolled around the backyard for a while.
Once the redness in her eyes had mostly faded, and it was no longer obvious that she’d been crying, the two began to walk back.
But after only walking a short distance, they suddenly heard the sounds of an argument coming from the North Courtyard, followed by the sound of something smashing.
Qiao Yuxian and Gu Yanjing paused, exchanged a glance, and both looked in the direction of the North Courtyard.
The lotus pond in the backyard was very close to the North Courtyard.
The soundproofing in the buildings at Gu Mansion wasn’t particularly good.
The noise from over there was quite loud.
Although they couldn’t hear what the argument was about, they could hear the voices.
Ji Xiaoxiao and Gu Yicheng were having a fight.
And it was a fierce one.
Qiao Yuxian looked towards Gu Yanjing again.
Gu Yanjing looked down at her.
After a few seconds of eye contact, they tacitly continued their walk back.
It’s best not to interfere in a couple’s quarrel.
Going there might just make things worse.
But they’d only taken a few more steps when Qiao Yuxian’s phone rang.
She took it out and saw it was Ji Xiaoxiao calling.
She stopped and quickly answered the phone.
It seemed to have been an accident, as after the call connected, Ji Xiaoxiao didn’t speak to her but continued arguing with Gu Yicheng.
"You say it’s nothing! She calls you every night and sends messages! Are those ambiguous messages nothing?!" Ji Xiaoxiao shouted, "Gu Yicheng, you’re married! We got our marriage certificate less than a month ago! And you’re already seeing other women! What kind of person are you?!"
"I didn’t," Gu Yicheng said.
"You didn’t. Then what is this? What is this? Hotel room numbers, not just once," Ji Xiaoxiao shouted, "Your grandfather is still sick, and you’re going out cheating at night, coming back with someone else’s scent on your clothes. Do you have any conscience?"
"We’re a couple, but can’t we give each other some space?" Gu Yicheng said irritably.
"If you were trustworthy, I wouldn’t even bother to look at that useless phone of yours. You..." Ji Xiaoxiao started smashing things, "I let you keep in touch with her, go ahead, contact her."
Qiao Yuxian listened to the chaotic sounds of things being smashed through the phone.
Gu Yanjing reached to take her phone, and upon getting Qiao Yuxian’s permission, he pressed the end call button and handed it back to her.
Qiao Yuxian looked at him.
Gu Yanjing grasped her hand and led her toward the North Courtyard.
Qiao Yuxian could feel that Gu Yanjing was angry, so she quietly followed behind him.
The two quickly reached the North Courtyard and went straight to Gu Yicheng and Ji Xiaoxiao’s place.
As they reached the doorway, they saw Ji Xiaoxiao had fallen to the ground.
The shelf behind her had toppled, with things scattered everywhere, along with shards of glass and ceramics.
Gu Yicheng was holding her wrist, dragging her a short distance along the ground.
Seeing this, Qiao Yuxian rushed forward.
She stepped onto the coffee table, jumping over it to push Gu Yicheng away and helped Ji Xiaoxiao up.
Gu Yicheng was pushed off balance and stumbled, knocking over a large vase to pieces.
Qiao Yuxian got Ji Xiaoxiao up, checked her, and asked, "Are you hurt anywhere?"
Ji Xiaoxiao’s hair was a mess, hanging down on both sides, her makeup smeared from crying, her face dirty, chest heaving violently. She looked at Qiao Yuxian, then shook her head slightly, lowered her head, and silently shed tears without speaking.
"Xiao Xiao, I’m sorry..." Gu Yicheng took a step forward and said.
Qiao Yuxian turned to him, shielding Ji Xiaoxiao behind her.
Gu Yicheng met her gaze, paused, and said, "Qiao... sister-in-law, it’s not what you think."
Listening to Ji Xiaoxiao’s low sobs, Qiao Yuxian kept her silence as she stared at him.
Gu Yanjing approached.
Seeing him approach out of the corner of his eye, Gu Yicheng instinctively stepped back a couple of steps and said tremulously, "Brother."
Gu Yanjing looked at him with eyes that could flay him alive, "What have you done?"
"I-I didn’t do anything," Gu Yicheng denied.
"Grandfather is ill, what were you doing outside?" Gu Yanjing asked.
"I-I..." Gu Yicheng couldn’t speak.
"What were you just doing?" Gu Yanjing asked again.
"I didn’t do anything just now," Gu Yicheng hurriedly explained, "I really didn’t do anything, I just... Xiao Xiao, I really didn’t mean it, you know, I..."
He meant for Ji Xiaoxiao to help explain for him.
But Ji Xiaoxiao, instead of explaining, cried even harder.
Both aggrieved and heartbroken.
Her sobs were so intense she seemed hardly able to breathe.
Her crying answered everything.
Gu Yanjing looked at Gu Yicheng.
Gu Yicheng instinctively retreated, "Brother, I didn’t, I really just..."
"What about the other stuff?" Gu Yanjing asked about him cheating.
Moments ago, adamantly denying and refusing to admit in front of Ji Xiaoxiao, Gu Yicheng couldn’t say a word when facing Gu Yanjing.
His guilty conscience left him speechless.
Seeing his silence, Gu Yanjing raised his leg and kicked him to the ground.
The floor was strewn with fragments everywhere.
But after all, he was his brother, so while Gu Yanjing kicked him down, he chose a relatively clean spot.
The spot where Gu Yicheng fell still had a chair cushion, so he wouldn’t get too injured.
But as he fell, he knocked over a small flower rack, making a loud noise.
Gu Yicheng fell with a grimace of pain, unable to make a sound for a moment.
Ji Xiaoxiao was scared into a shiver.
He hadn’t expected Gu Yanjing would strike him.
She only wanted Gu Yanjing to scold him.
But Gu Yanjing approached, still not intending to stop.
"Mr. Gu, Mr. Gu." Ji Xiaoxiao quickly shielded Gu Yicheng and said, "Mr. Gu, he didn’t hit me, he didn’t hit me."
Gu Yanjing looked at her.
Though genuinely angry, Ji Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but feel tender: "Don’t hit him. Don’t hit him. I fell myself, he really didn’t hit me."
Gu Yanjing said nothing.
Qiao Yuxian came over, tugging at Gu Yanjing’s sleeve.
Gu Yanjing lowered his gaze to her hand, turned, and left.
Qiao Yuxian glanced at Ji Xiaoxiao, then also went outside.
Watching them leave, Ji Xiaoxiao wiped her tears messily, turned, and went to help Gu Yicheng up.
"Where are you hurt?" Ji Xiaoxiao helped him up and asked.
Gu Yicheng held her hand, looked at her and said, "Xiao Xiao, please forgive me this once, the last time. I won’t do it again. I promise, I really won’t."
Ji Xiaoxiao said, "Last time when that woman came to the door, you said the same, and then you went twice again."
"I really won’t this time," Gu Yicheng said.
Ji Xiaoxiao sniffled, touched his arm, and then his shoulder, and asked, "Did you get hurt anywhere?"
"No, it’s fine," Gu Yicheng said.
Ji Xiaoxiao wiped her tears again and said, "Then that’s good. I’m going home for a couple of days."
"Xiao Xiao," Gu Yicheng held her hand.
Ji Xiaoxiao took his hand away: "Let’s both take some time to cool off."
With that, she walked out...
