?Chapter 1485:

Corrine stepped inside and headed straight to Kinsley’s room—only to find the bed empty.

She reached for her phone, preparing to call, when a familiar voice called her name. “Corrine.”

She turned—and there was Kinsley, easing herself forward in a wheelchair, framed by the soft hallway light.

Corrine slid her phone back into her pocket and hurried toward her. “Where were you?”

Kinsley gave a small shrug, her hands resting on the wheels. “Went out for some air. It gets a little suffocating in there after a while.”

“My fault,” Corrine said as she carefully pushed Kinsley’s wheelchair down the corridor. “I’m sorry I haven’t visited these past few days.”

Kinsley offered a reassuring smile. “I’m not a kid who needs babysitting.”

Once inside the room, Kinsley shared her ns. “I n to leave in a couple of days.”

Corrine’s expression showed concern. “Why the hurry?”

Kinsley was still recovering, her mobility visibly limited. Corrine wondered if there was an urgent reason for her early departure.

“I can’t stay here forever,” Kinsley answered, a faint lift at the corner of her mouth as her gaze dropped. Whatever was in her eyes, she kept hidden. “And I know what my body’s telling me.” She touched her leg gently.

Whether she liked it or not, the wheelchair would be her reality sooner orter. The thought of spending her life confined to it made her stomach twist.

She still had pride, and it wouldn’t let her surrender. But life had a way of pushing harder. Eventually, even the strongest person had to lower their head and ept the weight of it.

Corrine looked at her for a long moment, then let out a quietugh. “The Kinsley I know wouldn’t give up so easily, not even on the most dangerous battlefield.”

    Kinsley was startled by thement.

    The battlefield…

Corrine’s words rekindled memories of Kinsley’s spirited efforts on the disputednds.

Taking a deep breath to steady her emotions, Kinsley managed a bittersweet smile. “Corrine, I can’t go back to how things were.” She knew she could never return to the ce where her passion once burned the brightest.

Originally, she had joined the Red me organization for the adventure, drawn to their fearless and vibrant spirit. Over time, she grew to love the genuine, passionate people who made up their ranks, bound together in solidarity.

Her love for thend itself had blossomed in the same way.
