?Chapter 1636:

Corrine didn’t bother looking up. Her reply was as t as it was direct.

“You talk too much.”

Those within earshot were stunned.

Did Corrine really not know what kind of family the Charleses were?

Was she seriously unafraid he might just pull a gun on her right then? Or did she think she had more than one life to throw away by being this bold?

After Taylor and his entourage finally left thepany, Corrine returned to Jules’ office.

“Well done,” Jules said, openly impressed.

Corrine, however, barely acknowledged thepliment. Instead, she stared at Jules’ face, her brows pulling together slightly. “It’s been two days. Why does it still look this bad?”

Jules let out a dryugh in his mind.

Two days, and the bruises still stood out like a sore thumb.

Clearly, Zeke hadn’t held back in the slightest. So much for friendship!

“I’m curious,” Corrine went on, eyeing him. “Weren’t you and Zeke best friends? How did ite to blows?”

Both men had left the military for their own reasons—one joining the family business, the other striking out on his own—but their bond had always seemed unbreakable.

Besides, the Hoffman and Cooper families intended to form an alliance through marriage. Their rtionship was supposed to grow even closer, not fall apart.

Jules snorted. “We were friends. Not anymore.”

Corrine rolled her eyes without restraint. “You grown men are ridiculous. Fighting like a couple of teenagers over something petty.”

Before Jules could get a word in, Corrine spoke again. “I need a car I can borrow.”

Jules gave her a look. “Heading to Mountains Highway tonight?” She nodded, casually tapping the bridge of her nose.

“Also, figure out a way to cover your bruises up or Grandpa will hear of it.”

If word of the fight reached the old man, Jules might face another round of scolding.

Later that evening, Corrine left thepany and drove straight to the hotel where Taylor was staying.

She spotted him sitting casually by the fountain out front. His suit had been reced with casual wear. A ck shirt paired effortlessly with white trousers, giving him an air of rxed confidence mixed with undeniable charm.fnfd1d ??? ????? ???????s ??? ?????s??? ?? Find_Novel(./fnfd1d

As Corrine’s car approached, Taylor stood up and walked over. Without hesitation, he leaned in, pressing his cheek against hers in a bold, familiar greeting.

“It’s been a while. Did you miss me?”

Instead of answering, Corrine narrowed her eyes. “First, tell me, are you the older one or the younger brother?”

Taylor’s yful expression darkened instantly. Annoyance crept into his voice. “Obviously, I’m the younger brother.”

When Corrine heard that, some of the chill in her eyes finally faded. The brothers had pulled enough tricks on her in the past to leave her perpetually cautious.
