The Jilted Heiress' Return To The High Life
Chapter 1649
?Chapter 1649:
Nate looked at her intently, swallowing down a surge of emotion.
“Is missing you a valid reason?”
Corrine faced him with a smile.
“Of course it is.”
A gentle smile appeared on Nate’s lips as he drew her close.
As he leaned in, Corrine’s eyshes fluttered with apprehension, and she murmured,
“Let’s not do anything here in the garden!”
Nate raised an eyebrow yfully, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
“So, does that mean there’s somewhere else we can do whatever we want?”
Corrine was momentarily speechless.
How exactly was she supposed to respond to that question?
“Come on, I’ll show you something interesting.” Choosing not to answer directly, she changed the subject.
She led him toward the nearby pond, where countless koi fish swam. As they approached, the motion-activated lights flickered to life one after another, bathing the area in a soft, almost dreamlike glow. Just then, a koi leapt clean out of the water, snatching a fallen leaf in its mouth before disappearing back beneath the surface.
“I read somewhere that seeing a koi jump out of the water is a sign of good luck,” Corrine remarked lightly. Her eyes sparkled with quiet amusement as she nced at Nate. “And you just saw one.”
Her words seemed yful, but Nate’s eyes darkened slightly, their focus locked entirely on her.
After a pause that stretched longer than expected, he spoke again.
“Think I could get a little tour of your room?”

“You want to see my room?” Corrine raised an eyebrow, shooting him a brief look of surprise.
Hadn’t he already been there before?
What was so fascinating about it now?
But Nate simply nodded, taking her hand in his without waiting for a reply, guiding her toward the exit of the garden.
Corrine’s bedroom carried a soft warmth, decorated in muted pastel yellow paired with crisp white. There was none of the sugary pink often favored by other young women, nor the extravagant disys of wealth seen in many elite homes.
Under the gentle glow of the lights, the room gave off a calm, soothingfort.
As soon as they stepped inside, Corrine instinctively shut the door behind them, feeling a bit nervous.
If her grandfather caught her bringing a man into her room, he’d probably be so furious he’d pound his cane against the floor loudly.fncd35 ???? ????s? ???????s ?? findnovel/fncd35
Just as she turned back around, Nate leaned in without warning, one arm braced against the door, effectively trapping her between his chest and the door behind her.
With his other hand, he absently yed with a loose strand of her hair, his head lowering until their foreheads lightly touched. His warm breath brushed across her skin as he spoke.
“Don’t we look like we’re sneaking around… like a couple having a secret affair?”
That maic voice of his was quite provocative, sending Corrine’s heart into a frantic rhythm beyond her control. She had to admit, his description wasn’t exactly wrong.
