The King of Urban Mercenaries
Chapter 1067 - 1069: The Butcher’s Question
CHAPTER 1067: CHAPTER 1069: THE BUTCHER’S QUESTION
After the three left, they began to prepare for Lin Fei’s wedding anniversary. The three were very busy, but their roles were clear. Originally, Butcher didn’t need to participate, but his enthusiasm was high, and he insisted on joining. In the end, with Wang Xiaoya’s help, Butcher also joined in.
Therefore, because the three left, they narrowly escaped disaster. Just two days before Lin Fei’s wedding anniversary, tragedy struck. While the Hell’s Judgement Mercenary Corps were still on vacation, an explosion occurred at the resort that night.
This was a targeted attack. The explosion nearly leveled the entire resort, and the official explanation was a gas leak, a pipeline explosion. But Radar knew it was all an excuse because there were no gas pipelines at the resort.
Everyone died, at least most of the Hell’s Judgement high-ranking personnel perished in that explosion. Yet Radar and his team didn’t have time to grieve because two days later was Lin Fei’s wedding anniversary. They decided to keep this matter a secret.
Radar and his team knew all about Lin Fei’s life and envied it, but they didn’t want that kind of life. So they decided to hide this matter from Lin Fei, allowing him to continue living happily, and never to tell him in the future.
However, they did not expect Lin Fei to announce at last night’s bonfire party his decision to go abroad to continue developing Hell’s Judgement Mercenary Corps.
This decision, combined with the incident two days ago, caught the three off guard. They stayed up all night, and while discussing the matter here, they were unexpectedly caught by Lin Fei, who also saw through their flawed lies.
After hearing Radar’s explanation, Lin Fei remained calm and asked, "Do you know who killed the brothers?"
"Don’t know. We haven’t had time to investigate," Radar replied. Because many of Hell’s Judgement high-ranking personnel died, the entire intelligence system was temporarily paralyzed, making investigations difficult.
"Does Crin Meka know about this?" Lin Fei asked.
"Boss, Meka’s leader hasn’t responded these past two days. I heard the Crin family has some issues, so Crin Meka’s leader might be busy with her family’s matters and doesn’t know about this," Radar explained.
Lin Fei nodded and said, "Radar, you and Xue Zhi should go back together. Butcher stays here and comes with me."
"Boss, I don’t want to go back with you. I want revenge for the brothers!" Radar said, not wanting to follow Lin Fei to live that boring life, something Butcher couldn’t do.
After hearing Butcher’s words, Lin Fei understood his intentions and said, "Exactly, that’s why I want you to head back two days later, and then come with me for the brothers’ revenge!"
"Boss, you’re going back?" Butcher asked surprised.
"Already told you last night that I’m going back. Just moved up the schedule, though. The brothers’ vengeance can’t go unavenged. They didn’t die in vain!" Lin Fei said coldly. Those high-ranking members grew Hell’s Judgement Mercenary Corps alongside him, Lin Fei’s brothers, so the grudge cannot go unavenged.
"Since you’ve decided, then we two will leave here first to investigate who’s behind this! If I find out who did it, I’ll make them regret it for life!" Radar said coldly.
Lin Fei won’t stop his brothers from seeking revenge, but he must consider other issues. How did others know their vacation spot? And those brothers would never drop their guard.
At least when Lin Fei hasn’t left, Hell’s Judgement’s vacation spot won’t be known by others. Even if known, he’d alert everyone to stay vigilant. Although it’s leisure, they’re always ready for emergencies, a kind of training.
However, today’s tragic event occurred, absolutely not by chance. Perhaps there’s a huge conspiracy behind it.
"Radar, once you go back, quickly gather the brothers, and be careful. I suspect this is related to the three mercenary groups," Lin Fei speculated.
The three mercenary groups have always been the strongest forces internationally, and the addition of Hell’s Judgement disrupted the tripartite balance. Hell’s Judgement’s destruction benefits them all, hence Lin Fei suspects the three mercenary groups tampered.
Right then, Xue Zhi said solemnly, "Boss, the three of us also suspect the three mercenary groups, but we have no evidence. And if it’s truly them working alone, our current strength can’t hurt them—they’re too powerful."
Lin Fei couldn’t deny Xue Zhi’s words. If Xue Zhi were right, Hell’s Judgement lacks high-level management personnel for every force.
Despite the severe blow to Hell’s Judgement, its enormous ’body’ hasn’t collapsed. Hence Lin Fei wanted Radar and Xue Zhi to quickly organize personnel, preventing irreparable results.
"We’re not trying to confront the three mercenary groups now. They’ve been around for centuries, and we’re far off. We don’t even know how many trump cards they hold. Rash action will lead to total elimination," Lin Fei said.
"So, I hope you two go back and find out. When I get there, if it’s truly related to the three mercenary groups, then I’ll let them owe a blood debt!"
Lin Fei watched Radar and Xue Zhi leave while he and Butcher prayed for them.
"Butcher, where’s Wang Xiaoya?" Lin Fei asked. He didn’t seem to see Wang Xiaoya at the wedding, which was odd since she’s Butcher’s wife. He feared she might be in trouble.
"She... she’s in Iron Country." Butcher awkwardly said.
Lin Fei frowned and helplessly said, "Is something happening with you guys? You can talk to me, and I’ll help you think of a solution."
Butcher showed a difficult expression, one Lin Fei had never seen—like an innocent child who didn’t know how to be worried, signaling Butcher faced a tough decision to show such expression.
"Boss, do you feel this kind of life is happy?" Butcher suddenly asked.
Surprised by the question, Lin Fei found it hard to believe such words came from the rugged Butcher’s mouth, as if he suddenly turned into a scholar.
"Do you mean my current life? It’s okay. If there’s no pressure, I might live like this continuously. But obviously, the idea is beautiful; reality is cruel. This life can’t go on indefinitely," Lin Fei said.
