CHAPTER 502: 501. SOMETHING BAD (1)

Davian returned to his room in the evening, heart still refusing to calm down as he kept recalling the expression on Reina’s face. Her words kept ringing in his ears.

"Your eyes... seem to hold the twilight skies, Your Highness. They’re really beautiful."

He could have sworn that he saw the same sort of feelings that he had reflect in her eyes. As if she had been reciprocating for a while now.

The aspect of having his feelings mutual made him so happy that he couldn’t know what to do. He wanted to dance, shout and announce it to the whole world that the girl he loved might just love him back.

He was too happy to even consider that the said girl would be in a dilemma regarding her own words.

Reina/Ocean returned to her chambers through the window. Sol who had slept quite well since the evening had only woken up a while ago and noticed that Ocean hadn’t returned.

When Ocean did walk in the room removing his invisibility brooch along with the other accessories, Sol watched him plop over the armchair.

Without resisting the urge to tease, Sol climbed down from the bed and walked over to Ocean who seemed in daze.

Sol tilted his head asking, "Are you tired?"

Ocean didn’t respond and Sol stepped closer looking up at Ocean, "What? Did you end up telling Davian about yourself and Reina?"

No response.

Sol frowned a bit before he placed his hands over Ocean’s lap.

"Hey, say something. How was your date?"

Ocean’s eyes moved, his gaze settling over Sol’s little face.

"I think I’m going crazy, Sol." Ocean spoke.

"Did you just realised that!" Sol joked but Ocean didn’t smile.

"What would you say if I told you your eyes are beautiful in a poetic way while holding your hand?" Ocean asked.

Sol blinked and then suppressed his urge to laugh before he said, "I understand that you’re below my station but I accept your proposal."

Ocean’s blue eyebrows furrowed at that, "The hell do you mean?"

Sol didn’t resist his laughter this time as he asked, "Did you really hold his hand and made a poem over how beautiful his eyes are?"

Ocean groaned running his hand over his face before he looked at Sol with a mortified expression.

"Sol, what do I do? What if Davian thinks something strange over it?"

Sol sighed with an amused smile playing on his lips, "You pretty much did give a sign that you reciprocate his feelings. Why don’t you just date?"

Ocean stared at him for a moment. Usually his mind would immediately start ringing alarm sirens at the idea but now it seemed a bit viable. What was the harm? Davian was the future Grand Duke, he was an eligible man who could play both the parts of a clingy lover as well as the strong ally. Besides, his mother knew of Ocean’s real identity and had kept it a secret.

Reina being the daughter of Duke Aurelius who has come of age would soon be thrown into the chessboard of the Golden Serpent to solidfy her son’s position among the nobles. If not then there were chances that she would be thinking that Duke Aurelius would arrange his daughter’s engagement with Prince Eric since him and Rune were close friends.

For Reina, Eric was like a brother or moreover a son whom she had raised with a lot of efforts and dedication. She didn’t want their relationship to be tainted because of someone else.

Technically speaking, having the Grand Duke and Frosthail on their side would seal Eric’s fate of becoming the King.

"I think... It’s not a bad idea." Ocean murmured making Sol pause for a moment.

"... What did you just say?"

Ocean leaned ahead and Sol could see the cogs running in Ocean’s mind and though he did say something strange but his thoughts might just be running in an even stranger direction at this moment.

Ocean picked up the black rook and black knight from the chessboard before showing them to Sol.

"You see this? This is Grand Duke Alarice," Ocean said placing the rook down on the chess board and then showed him the black knight.

"And this is Prince Davian." Ocean said.

Sol silently watched as Ocean’s long fingers grasped the White King before placing it in front of the black rook and black knight.

"If I have Davian on my side then, I can use the power and influence of Frosthail and Grand Duke and Grand Duchess and make sure that Prince Eric is not touched by the Golden Serpent. She had been trying to do stuff behind the scenes that I came to know of so, if we handle it properly- no, if I handle it properly then I might have an invincible ally."

Ocean’s eyes had the glint that one would see in the eyes of a mad scientist. Sol couldn’t help but feel disappointed, not surprised but disappointed.

"Haha, that will do. I just need to keep up the-"

"Don’t dare say keep up the act of liking him," Sol interrupted Ocean.

Ocean frowned a bit, "What?"

Sol stared at him for a moment before he released a deep sigh, "I understand that Dragons are not as emotional beings as humans but are you forgetting that you are of human roots yourself?"

Ocean still didn’t seem to understand what Sol was trying to say.

Sol felt like he was dealing with a rock.

"You’re really planning to exploit that poor boy’s feelings and use his and his father’s position to fulfill your goals?"

Ocean’s enthusiasm from earlier dwindled as he pondered over Sol’s words. At times, Ocean did lose touch with his humanity and only thought like a cold and rational Dragon or rather like a Kingmaker.

Ocean hung his head, "I understand, I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking straight."

Sol huffed, "No, you were simply thinking that’s why you couldn’t realise what you were doing wrong."

Ocean lifted his eyes looking at Sol whose eyes now seemed to have dimmed as they stared off in the space whole his voice dripped with the feeling of melancholy as he said.

"You don’t understand it now, but it will all be for naught when you lose him... and then, even if you are a Dragon and the invincible being in the world, nothing would bring him back to you. Cherish the one who loves you while they are still by your side, you don’t know how immense the pain of losing such a person is."

Ocean stared at Sol’s face before another face juxtaposed over his. A man’s face who looked like he was in his late twenties flashed through her eyes, he had the same physical traits as Sol but he looked at least twenty times handsome than his child-like innocence.

His face held a shy smile as his softened eyes gazed at someone who was walking ahead of him.

"I understand." Sol said.

"Like hell you understand..."

Ocean only faintly managed to see the long, beautiful brown hair waving in front of him as the person turned their head, their eyes sparkled like the fresh green forests.

"... I won’t keep fighting for you like this... Cherish yourself more!"

Just as the vision had hit suddenly, it broke and Ocean inhaled sharply hearing Sol’s panicked voice.

"Ocean! Ocean, are you all right? What happened?"

Ocean blinked through blurry vision before he held Sol’s little hand and let his head fall back over the headrest.

"Hey, what happened? Why’d you suddenly zone out like that? Are you not feeling well?" Sol kept questioning but Ocean couldn’t say anything.

That brief vision, that look on the adult Sol’s face and that person in his vision was enough to tell him what it was. Sol had a history and there was probably a lot more than Ocean could think of in that lifetime.

Sol blinked, slowly relaxing, "Why are you staring at me like that? Are you feeling unwell? Should I call your brother or father?"

Ocean grasped both of Sol’s hands before staring intently into his eyes. Sol found it weird.

"What’s wrong with you? Why are you staring at me?"

Ocean remained silent for a moment, he didn’t want to bring it up but he also didn’t want Sol to stay in the same melancholic state.

Ocean thought of something before he smirked, "You got dumped by your girlfriend, didn’t you?"

Sol stiffened before his eyebrows furrowed.

"Wha-What are you talking about?"

Ocean kept smirking as he teased, "Hm? Then why would you know that feeling of being dumped? You were dumped by your girlfriend, weren’t you? Heh? So, even if you were a great and handsome looking guy you got dumped. Fufu..."

Sol’s ears grew red as Ocean laughed before Sol yanked his hands back attacking Ocean.

"I was not dumped! Stop talking nonsense!"

"Hehe, the self-proclaimed cool and strong little Sol was dumped by his girlfriend." Ocean sang making Sol even more embarrassed.

"What of you though? You’re making poems on the eyes of the man who likes you!" Sol retorted.

Ocean flinched for a moment before he held Sol’s waist making him give him a quizzical look.

"What-"

But before he could finish asking what Ocean was doing, Ocean wiggled his fingers sending the jolt over Sol’s body and the stream of giggles tumbled from his mouth.

"Wha-What are you..." He laughed as he tried to hit Ocean and get away but Ocean kept a vice grip as he tickled Sol.

"Stop it!" Sol laughed, "Stop it, I say!"

"Nuh-uh, this is a punishment for teasing your Uncle," Ocean said before plucking Sol off the floor while one hand still tickled he tucked Sol under his other as he made his way to the bed.

Sol kicked his feet and punched Ocean’s side but the tickling didn’t stop until a notification popped in front of Ocean’s eyes.

Ocean’s fingers slowly stopped and he let Sol down on the bed. After laughing so much, Sol’s stomach hurt and his anger surged.

But when he turned to attack Ocean again, he saw a grim expression over his face. The earlier mirth and mischief was long gone.

"Hey, what’s wrong now?" Sol asked and Ocean turned his eyes before meeting his before he announced.

"Something bad is going to happen soon."
