The Last King Of Darkness
Chapter 1000 - 520: Ancient Evil Thought (Part 2)
CHAPTER 1000: CHAPTER 520: ANCIENT EVIL THOUGHT (PART 2)
Rod nodded, feeling relieved if that’s the case. Such conventional methods were within his understanding. He was very worried that the Ancient Evil might have some extraordinary abilities, like directly influencing monsters or triggering the Black Fog.
This would be extremely troublesome.
"So then."
Rod looked at Asa with a scrutinizing gaze.
"Is he Amon, the Ancient Evil?"
A hint of sarcasm appeared in Asa’s cold voice.
"It’s his style. He loves to mock you so-called saviors, arranging for you an incredibly ironic death. That’s his Evil Thought Core."
Rod furrowed his brow, recalling the provocative words he’d left in Starry Sky City and the tragically miserable death of Heigao’er.
Hatred’s flames began to boil in his heart again. Rod had never wanted to kill someone so much.
"The Evil Thought Core, it’s his instinct, right?"
Asa said indifferently, "Yes, but it’s more than that. Satisfy his Evil Thought Core multiple times, and he can become even stronger, possibly even becoming the master before the Evil Thought split."
Rod was shocked: "What’s that thing?"
"It’s the source of the Ancient Evil. Tracing back to the source and becoming the source is the instinct of all Ancient Evil. Of course, except for me, I now want to become the King of Devouring Excrement."
Rod looked at him speechlessly, unable to understand his thinking. Regardless of whether the King of Devouring Excrement exists or not, a soul wanting to become such a king surely has some serious issues.
But that’s not the point; what Asa wants to become has nothing to do with him, after all, he cannot escape the confinement of the Dream Realm.
"Alright, so do you have any ideas now?"
Asa sneered, "Of course I do, but I should have mentioned the condition that you should let me devour all remaining evil thoughts, and assist me in finding more of the Feces Particles."
Rod agreed readily.
"No problem, I swear by my identity as the Master of Dreams, as soon as we catch Amon, I’ll let you devour him."
Asa’s soul swelled up, looking very excited.
"Very well, but let me reiterate, I’m not helping you, nor trading with you. The extinction of humanity is an unchangeable fate; I just want to make your struggles a bit more intense, only then is it interesting."
Rod impatiently said, "Fine, I know, just get to the point."
Asa chuckled sinisterly.
"First of all, do not hide any of your actions, much less cancel them. Proceed with the goal of completing the task, as if you have the confidence to deal with him."
Rod felt a touch of joy in his heart, it was exactly the same as what Lord Meredith had said, but it seems this guy sincerely wants to help me.
Although he showed no expression on his face, he plainly said, "Oh? Just this, I already knew."
Asa’s tone was a bit irked, "Don’t get cocky, I haven’t finished speaking."
"But in secret, be extremely cautious and investigate everywhere, preferably making people anxious."
Rod was momentarily stunned, but quickly caught on. Taking a relaxed yet firm stance would prevent Amon from suspecting anything.
This is a brilliant plan, allowing him to lower his guard and reveal vulnerabilities faster.
But Rod still maintained that expression, disdainfully saying, "I knew that too."
Asa raged, "Kid, don’t try to extract words from me. As long as the number of people in the team exceeds 100, Amon will definitely choose to directly infiltrate the team, then I’ll tell you what to do."
With that, he turned and intently studied his dung particles, ignoring any questions from Rod.
This guy.
Rod helplessly shook his head.
It seems like he can’t be overly stimulated either.
Returning consciousness to his body, Rod saw Meredith hadn’t finished talking with Lucian, so he repeated Asa’s words.
After hearing them, Lucian clapped his hands heavily.
"Indeed, Sir Rod, your wisdom is unrivaled."
Meredith also gave him a look of approval.
"Young Rod, you truly are the one spoken of in the prophecy, the King who is longed for. Perhaps it refers to you."
Rod chuckled awkwardly, "You must have the wrong person."
Meredith shook her head gently.
"No, it’s impossible. The Ancient Evil is an indestructible existence. Even if you tear its soul into fragments, one fragment returning to the Spirit Realm, before long, will be the core for a new soul."
"Endlessly regenerating, indestructible, this is the Ancient Evil. It is humanity’s greatest internal threat, the nurturing ground of doomsday believers, piercing through human history like a flash of lightning. No one can completely eliminate it."
"However, prophecy shows that you can do it, you can completely strip it of its power to threaten humanity."
At this moment, Rod could only chuckle.
The Dream Realm can indeed imprison the Ancient Spirits, which is the only way to eliminate their threat.
"However."
Meredith’s tone shifted to serious.
"Prophecies are not entirely accurate. They only see one possible future."
"I lifted the veil of mist, yet found more mist. This is the plight of us Great Prophets."
"True success requires your hands and mind to achieve it."
"Be extremely cautious."
Rod nodded solemnly, "Rest assured, I understand. I will ensure the success of this journey to the Ancient City, and capture Amon, the Ancient Evil lurking in Trolian."
Lucian patted his chest heavily: "With my heart, I swear, I will give it my all."
"That’s good..."
Meredith’s voice gradually faded.
Iyeta said solemnly, "Both of you, please leave, the teacher needs rest. May everything go smoothly, and may you achieve great victory."
Rod and Lucian exchanged glances, seeing the burning flames in each other’s eyes.
So, the decision was made just like that.
After leaving the White Tower, Rod quickly returned to Starry Sky City, working tirelessly through the night, extracting ten days’ worth of Spirituality.
Gazing at the warm, translucent liquid applied on the Star Chart, Rod felt dizzy, his waist and legs weak, his hands and feet cold, and said to Molly.
"During my absence, Starry Sky City is in your hands."
As his deputy, Molly’s absolute strength wasn’t strong, but her work capabilities were unparalleled, with excellent allocation and command efficiency regarding personnel and combat power.
It was due to her presence that the clearing operations in Starry Sky City could proceed smoothly, allowing Rod to become a hands-off boss with nothing to do.
Molly nodded, speaking softly, "I understand, Master. Please bring us more victories, only then can I serve you wholeheartedly without reservations."
Rod smiled, casually saying, "Sometimes, you should think about yourself too. Okay, I’m leaving, goodbye."
He then quickly returned to the Royal City and found Lucian.
As the Judgment Chief of the Internal Affairs Court, Lucian’s abilities are quite strong. In such a short time, he had arranged the majority of the personnel. Everyone in the team would have their role during the journey to Sagus City.
Of course, they had also undergone rigorous reviews, but on the surface, no one seemed problematic.
Rod knew this would not be that simple; he had already prepared himself.
