CHAPTER 1018: CHAPTER 528: PURSUIT (PART 2)
"Rod, my brother, I can feel the immense power contained in this bone ash, and these dragon scales and dragon bones are excellent materials. We’ve hit the jackpot this time."
Ye Feng’s smile was filled with genuine joy.
"Some of our warrior brothers can become stronger because of this."
Rod nodded and gazed into the distance.
Vito was wrapping Riegel’s wounds, and he had bandages all over himself too.
"They’re all fine."
Ye Feng said casually, "Vito sustained a shock; he’ll be fine in a couple of days. Riegel’s injuries are a bit more serious. The Demon Dragon’s heavy strike pierced his Immortal Body, severely damaging both his body and soul, but he’s not in any danger. The bishops will heal him."
As if sensing his gaze, Riegel, lying on the ground, raised his arm, clenched his fist, and shouted, "Rod, my brother! I’m fine, don’t worry about me. Next time something like this happens, you must call me, Riegel..."
"Shut up!"
Vito gave him a pat.
"The blood’s coming out again!"
Riegel angrily retorted, "Nonsense, there’s no blood. That’s just my sweat. I absolutely can’t get injured..."
"That’s your urine, okay?"
"So what if it’s urine! I drank a lot of water, is that not okay? I’m not a Commander yet; I still need to eat and drink!"
"Shut up, will you!"
Amidst the bickering, Mephit silently flew back, quietly standing behind Rod with her hood pulled up, just like before.
Rod glanced at her, deciding silently to ask her properly when they got back.
The strength Mephit displayed today made Rod see her in a new light.
"Let’s head back first," Rod said succinctly.
Ye Feng immediately replied, "Alright."
At this moment, Rod seemed to become the leader of the group.
Ye Feng, always the Captain, subconsciously accepted this change, and no one even noticed this shift, as if it was only natural.
Beneath Ye Feng’s feet, Spiritual Light flickered as he rose into the air. His right hand opened, and the external Spiritual Energy lifted Vito and Riegel.
Rod and Mephit followed closely behind.
Sagus City is an extremely dangerous relic site; everyone dared not fly too high, roughly maintaining a height of around two hundred meters.
From this angle, Rod could see half of the Ancient City.
The eerie buildings immersed in Black Fog, with shadows flitting about occasionally, while above lay an even denser Black Fog, everything appearing oppressive and terrifying.
Unlike Starry Sky City, Sagus Ancient City didn’t have the ability to clear the entire place; they could only selectively clean the parts of higher value.
The flying speed was swift, and in a moment, Rod saw the firelight of the camp.
"We’re here... scratch that, what is this?"
The moment they landed, Rod was completely stunned.
Only to see a foul stench permeating the camp, with a massive pile of dung dropped right in the middle, black, yellow, and brown, flowing all over the place.
This was far more disgusting than a cesspool, and Rod nearly vomited.
"What happened here?"
Rod shouted, his gaze sweeping around.
Everyone in the camp huddled at the edge of the firelight, their expressions still in shock, clearly a recent incident.
An Archbishop walked up in disarray, his white robe dotted with specks, a mix of shock and disgust flickering in his eyes.
"It- it just flew over, we don’t know where it came from... ugh!"
This Archbishop evidently had poor resistance, vomiting uncontrollably after speaking just a few words.
The other two Archbishops were much calmer, probably accustomed to sewer work before.
"Sir Rod, I just investigated, this is merely filth, without toxins, heavy pollution, or Black Fog."
"This is likely an attack by the Doomsday believers, meant to disturb us. I suggest calling back Sir Lucian immediately."
Rod’s heart tightened as he immediately realized, this was definitely Amon’s doing.
Goodness!
That’s truly vicious!
The Dung Demon Dragon has the ability to devour filth to enhance its Spiritual Energy. After its awakening, apart from battling, it continually gorged on dung. Once it finished eating all the dung in the cesspool, the dung in the camp would immediately attract it.
The outcome is imaginable.
With its Spiritual Energy reaching level sixteen, the Demon Dragon would surely cause massive destruction to the camp, potentially wiping it out entirely.
If they hadn’t insisted on killing the Demon Dragon at the time, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
And if they did kill the Demon Dragon, a massive trap would be waiting for Rod.
The strength of the filth hidden in the Demon Dragon Heart was unlike anything Rod had ever seen. If not for Asa, an anomaly possessing authority over devouring dung, the consequences would have been equally unfathomable.
Understanding all this, Rod instantly grasped Amon’s entire plot.
The intricacy of his strategy far surpassed that of Asa, the dim-witted, and what amazed Rod the most was that he couldn’t comprehend how Amon achieved this.
"When they return, we must find out what exactly happened."
Rod silently made up his mind.
Afterwards, Ye Feng used his Fire Spark ability with the help of the three Archbishops to clear the dung away.
It must be said, this is the true form of the Starfire Series, with its extensive functionalities and broad utility.
Rod, as a pseudo-Starfire, mostly used "Fire Sparks" (Stars) for combat, which weren’t really suited for handling overly complex situations.
With Ye Feng’s efforts, the camp finally returned to its original state, the stench entirely dissipated.
