"No matter what, they can’t breach Dragon’s Peak. We possess the strongest Defense Magic Array on the Keltos Continent. Even if several more Liches arrive, they can’t break through our Array!"

"Heaven and Hell cannot be at his whim. As long as we wait patiently, though it may take a long time, the time will come. When Heaven or Hell intervenes, it will be the end of the undead!"

The Black Dragons all believed this, despite their morale being frighteningly low.

The entire Black Dragon Clan was trapped in their lair for perhaps the first time in history. Meanwhile, their enemies outside continued to provoke them viciously.

Augustsburg, the only son of the Black Dragon Elder, was hung from the cliff directly facing Dragon’s Peak. The Liches kept him alive with Magic Power while dismembering him piece by piece daily.

This was undoubtedly a bloody and brutal scene, enough to destroy the long-standing image Gray had crafted for the Lich King. However, Richie seemed indifferent, urgently needing a method to lure the Black Dragons out. He didn’t much care what that method might be.

Of course, the most important thing was that...no humans, whom his father always cared most about, were present.

This provocation, however, could only serve to damage Black Dragon morale. Although it deeply enraged the Black Dragon Clan, it evidently wasn’t enough to make them forget the danger they faced and rashly strike back.

The stalemate continued day after day. A week later, the undead, who didn’t need rest, had built numerous fortifications around Dragon’s Peak.

A deadlock had formed, but Richie wasn’t content with merely besieging the Black Dragon Clan.

Standing in the snowstorm, Richie asked Bruto, "Do we have any chance of breaking through Dragon’s Peak’s Defense Magic Array?"

Bruto shook his head and replied, "It’s difficult, at least I haven’t thought of a way. This Array is different from the original one in Dragon Valley, as it has a mechanism to accumulate Magic Power and is very cleverly designed. Even if we bombard it with Magic Power cannons, it can’t be breached."

"What exactly does it look like?"

"Uh...let me explain it to you this way." Bruto placed the diagram he had calculated on the ’table’ that had just been hacked out but was already covered in snow. The wind almost blew the diagram away. Quickly, Bruto cast a spell, creating a shield to form a sealed space, providing a moment of peace.

The Black Dragons on Dragon’s Peak, the Holy Spirits from another dimension, and the demons from the abyss were all silently watching Richie’s every move. Yet Richie seemed completely unaware, openly discussing with Bruto.

"The Magic Power released by the Array spreads evenly across Dragon’s Peak’s Magic Power shield. When we attack, a depression forms, drawing all the Magic Power instantly to that point, creating extremely strong defense."

"Is there any way to smash it before the depression forms? Like breaking glass."

"Impossible," Simon said from the other side. "I guess they anticipated that, so outside the actual shield, there’s another layer of Magic specifically for sensing. This sensing Magic ensures the formation of depressions and its source is within Dragon’s Peak, making it compatible with the Defense Magic Array, and indestructible."

"Is there any way to ’deceive’ it?"

"We’ve tried many times and found it precisely senses the Magic Power needed for defense, then controls it to just over ten percent."

"Exhausting its Magic Power?"

*"Hmm...this is theoretically possible. But practically, it’s unlikely," Bruto replied. "We’ve bombarded it many times, thoroughly examined the dispersed Magic Power’s composition, and found that only a small portion comes from the active input by the Black Dragons. The majority is generated by the power accumulation mechanism. We can view this Magic Array as a life form, created by the Black Dragon Clan, with a single function life form, possessing an extremely powerful energy accumulation mechanism. Based on our current experiments, we can’t see its Magic Power’s limits."*

*Richie fell silent, quietly observing the yet incomplete Array diagram the Liches had calculated. After a long time, he softly asked, "Is there no possible way? It can’t be perfect. There’s nothing perfect in this world, I don’t believe it. So, it must have a weakness."*

Two Liches stared blankly at Richie. After a while, they said, "Hmm...it’s particularly sophisticated."

"Sophisticated? Is that a weakness?"

"Of course, that’s definitely a weakness," Bruto spread his hands and said. "According to our calculations, it consists of at least fifteen million spells. These spells vary in length and all need to be inscribed on runestones. This means, the entire Magic Array is very large. I’m not just referring to its effective range; I’m talking about its ’core.’ Very large, and very intricate. At least five million runestones are required. Actually, we can make this thing ourselves, it’s not very difficult. But we’ve never heard of a Lich making something like this. Why is that?"

"Why?"

"Because it takes an extraordinarily long time. To make such a Magic Array, if a single Lich were to do it, it would take at least ten thousand years, doing nothing else, just creating this Magic Array. No matter how powerful the Lich is, it would take at least ten thousand years. And secondly, this Magic Array would be very impractical."
