The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 1: Uncle Is Back
CHAPTER 1: CHAPTER 1: UNCLE IS BACK
"Click."
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Eleanor Hollis tensed up completely.
She peeked out and saw the man undoing his tie, quickly emerged from the corner, buried her head and threw herself into his embrace, standing on tiptoe to start kissing him gently.
Nathaniel Quinn’s hand paused, suddenly finding a woman’s soft body in his arms, the enticing fragrance causing him to lose focus momentarily.
"Bang!"
He was pushed onto the bed, his suit buttons undone, then his shirt, and the feathery kisses made him involuntarily arch his neck, but touching her waist, he suddenly sobered up.
Those were stretch marks, shameful scars! These marks constantly reminded him of why he had married this woman in the first place!
"Eleanor Hollis!"
He pushed her away, his face full of rage, and turned on the room’s light with a raised hand, the glaring light dispelling the ambiguity that had just filled the room.
"You were just as forward that time too, weren’t you?! Eleanor Hollis! You’re so cheap! No wonder the child didn’t make it!"
Nathaniel Quinn spat out harsh words, seeing her face turn pale, let out a cold snort, and went into the bathroom to wash himself clean.
Eleanor said nothing, running her fingers over the stretch marks on her belly. The child was long gone. When she woke up in the hospital back then, the doctor told her the child couldn’t be saved, and she never even saw the child’s face.
She forced her tears back. Her grandmother was seriously ill and urgently needed a large sum of money, and her mother-in-law made it very clear that only after she bore a child would she have the right to take money from the Quinton Family.
Soon, the man came out from his shower, still in his perfectly tailored suit, organizing his tie in front of the mirror, something rare.
"Nathaniel, Mom and Dad want us to have a child. Could you cooperate a bit, just until the child is born..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Nathaniel grabbed her by the neck, "Eleanor Hollis! You think you have the right to give birth to a Quinton child?! In your dreams! Don’t forget why you married into the Quinton Family! Remember your place!"
Choked, Eleanor couldn’t breathe, her face flushed red. Her nails began digging into Nathaniel’s iron arm. When he released her, she gasped for air, supporting herself on the bed.
Back then, she was in her third year of university and pregnant when she married Nathaniel, the eldest son of the Quinton Family, thus ending her college career.
What followed was the Quinton Family’s dislike and ostracism.
"Change your clothes; Uncle just returned from abroad. We’ll have dinner at the Quinton Family tonight."
Nathaniel’s voice was cold, raising his head to button the top two buttons at his neck. Eleanor went over, wanting to help, but he swatted her hand away.
"Don’t be shameless!"
Eleanor’s fists clenched. Of course, she knew why her husband was like this to her—because there was another woman in his heart.
The woman who was his unattainable love, it was truly ironic.
"I won’t go. Nathaniel, let’s divorce. The divorce agreement is on the bedside table. Just give me a million, and I’ll sign immediately. Haven’t you always wanted a divorce?"
She casually gathered her hair and put on her jacket. This was the first time she spoke so firmly.
If he wouldn’t cooperate in having a child, then they’d divorce. Maybe, to get rid of her, he would be willing to pay the sum.
After five years of repression in the Quinton Family, she had had enough. Any lingering feelings from the past had long been worn away, now all she thought about was saving her grandmother.
Nathaniel’s face was full of mockery. If it weren’t for Eleanor Hollis, he could have married the woman he loved. Now, this sticky situation was finally about to end.
He picked up the divorce agreement, his eyes suddenly turning cold, "A million? You’ve done nothing in the Quinton Family for five years, yet you want a million for emotional distress? You’re dreaming! I’d rather give that money to a dog than to you!"
