CHAPTER 12: CHAPTER 12: THE CHECK

He calmed down for a moment, took a sip of tea, and then slowly said, "Eleanor, you are an adult now, and it’s your decision to divorce. Since you are determined, I will not stop you."

He glanced at the butler, who then brought a check. It had been prepared in advance, before Eleanor Hollis arrived.

This time, indeed, the second son’s family went too far, leaving a young woman with nothing when she left, completely disgracing the Quinton Family.

"Eleanor, once you leave, you will need money everywhere. Take this."

Eleanor took a quick look at the number on it and found it was a check for five million, her heart trembled slightly.

She indeed had nothing now, and additional treatment was still needed for her grandmother’s illness.

"Thank you, Grandpa Quinn."

She reached out and took the check, thinking about the bracelet whose value was probably about the same amount.

The bracelet could be considered an antique; it was said to be picked up from the antique market by the older generation. Even Joelle Quinn, a pampered daughter, could wear it out to show off, proving it was a top-notch bracelet.

Joelle Quinn was so angry that her face hurt. This woman originally went to her brother to ask for a million, and their family did not give it. Yet, Old Master Quinn directly gave her five million. How could this damned woman’s luck be so good!

"Have you eaten? If not, have some food before you leave."

Old Master Quinn spoke again. Seeing her take the check, he finally felt a bit relieved.

"Grandpa Quinn, I won’t eat. My grandmother is ill. I need to go back and see her."

Afraid that Beatrice Sullivan might really cause trouble, she told the old man about her grandmother’s illness. With him suppressing it, perhaps Beatrice Sullivan wouldn’t dare to do anything.

Old Master Quinn’s face changed indeed; she was the wife of his good friend, and he had to go see her no matter what.

"Is the illness serious? Eleanor, come, I’ll go with you to have a look."

He got up, intending to follow her without even planning to eat.

Eleanor was somewhat moved. Although she hadn’t met the old man many times, he had always been kind to her.

"She needs a kidney transplant, and there’s no suitable donor at the moment. Grandpa Quinn, you don’t need to worry. I’ll take care of my grandmother. Just now, when I left, the doctor wanted to see me. I have to go back."

She stood up, holding the check in her hand, and without listening to anything else, she quickly left the living room.

Old Master Quinn swallowed all the words he wanted to say, then sternly glared at Nathaniel Quinn; this grandson was increasingly disappointing him.

Beatrice Sullivan was startled by the old man’s gaze. She always knew that Old Master Quinn felt indebted to Eleanor Hollis because of her miscarriage years ago and was biased in her favor, but she didn’t expect it to be to this extent.

"Dad, we can’t interfere too much in the young people’s affairs. Nathaniel doesn’t like Eleanor Hollis, as you know. Taking care of her for five years is already the utmost duty."

Since Eleanor was not here, she could say whatever she wanted.

The old master faintly stood up; he didn’t even give her a look. "Let’s eat. After eating, you should leave early."

Beatrice Sullivan’s face stiffened, she tightly clenched her hands. The old master had already begun to be disappointed in their family, and it was all because of that wretched woman, Eleanor Hollis!

No one spoke at the dining table. Beatrice Sullivan could clearly feel the old man’s attitude towards them becoming indifferent, and she felt increasingly furious, cursing Eleanor Hollis again and again.

The most promising member of the Quinton Family was Old Master Quinn’s youngest son, Hugo Quinn. He had already made a name for himself in the stock market at a young age and founded the Grandeur Group at only twenty. In a few short years, the company had leapt to the top of the Fortune 500, and everyone said Hugo Quinn was a business prodigy.

She came here this time intending to do business with Grandeur Group, but Hugo Quinn was not here at all. After annoying Old Master Quinn, they left early after finishing the meal.
