The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 15: Eager to Climb the Social Ladder
CHAPTER 15: CHAPTER 15: EAGER TO CLIMB THE SOCIAL LADDER
Stella Lynch thought of that five million, feeling a strong itch in her heart, and quickly spoke up.
She exchanged a glance with Liam Lynch, thinking about how to pacify Eleanor Hollis first, making her willingly hand over the five million.
Eleanor Hollis stayed silent. When Grandma was sick, not a single one of these children came to visit or gave any money. What was the reason for them to come all the way from the countryside now?
Grandpa was a famous professor. Back when he went to the countryside to teach, he met Grandma, and they fell in love and eventually got married.
However, Grandma didn’t like the city environment, always wanting to return to the countryside. Moreover, Grandma’s family obstructed them in every possible way, so they finally settled in the countryside.
Grandpa occasionally published papers online, eventually won an award, and was invited by a university to be a professor, which is how he met Mr. Quinton.
But he still lived in the countryside, shuttling between the city and the country. Grandma was virtuous, taking good care of the children, but unfortunately, because Grandpa passed away early, each child grew up more crooked than the last.
Stella Lynch was the third, Liam Lynch was the second, and her mother was the eldest. Sadly, none of the three wanted to support the elderly, and even Eleanor was dumped in the countryside by her mother.
"Grandma needs a peaceful recovery, if you have nothing else, please leave."
Eleanor Hollis spoke coldly, having no regard for the two of them.
Of course, Stella and Liam Lynch wouldn’t leave. They came for the five million.
"Eleanor, I heard you divorced Nathaniel Quinn. It’s really a pity. I thought you could live your whole life as a lady of a wealthy family, unlike us rural folks who slog in the fields every day."
Stella Lynch said sourly. Back when they learned Eleanor and Grace Lynch married into wealth, they rushed over to latch on but were turned away.
"Old Mr. Quinton gave you five million. We know about it. Eleanor, when you were in the countryside, we helped you a lot. Now you’ve made it, don’t forget us. You should at least give us half of that five million."
Liam Lynch hurriedly spoke, his face full of greed, instantly revealing their purpose for coming.
So it was about the five million.
Mockery tinted Eleanor’s eyes. How did these two know she got five million? It must have been someone from the Quinton Family who informed them.
Give them half? They were really dreaming.
"I’ve already donated the money."
She said calmly, holding Grandma’s hand, ignoring them.
"Eleanor Hollis! Do you take us for three-year-olds?! That’s five million we’re talking about. Everyone knows you’re penniless now! How could you have donated the money? I’m telling you, if you don’t give up the money, I’ll stay with you in Serenford until the end!"
Liam Lynch spoke harshly, clenching his fists, furious at the thought of her hogging all the money. Dream on!
"Then go ahead and stay."
With Serenford’s high cost of living, the two of them would last a week at most before they couldn’t bear it. Did they really think she was scared of them?
Stella Lynch rolled her eyes twice, sitting down with a fawning expression, "Eleanor, now that you’re divorced, does that mean Nathaniel is single? Why don’t you introduce Jane to him? Jane is very pretty, and fortune tellers say she has the life to marry well."
Jane Warren is her daughter, she’s sixteen this year, and if she could indeed marry Nathaniel Quinn, their family would be set.
Eleanor thought Stella’s thinking was truly disgusting. She had just gotten divorced, and Stella was already impatiently trying to shove her daughter in.
