The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 27: Helping with Treatment
CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: HELPING WITH TREATMENT
She was living there just to help Marcus with his treatment, not wanting to get involved with anyone else in the Quinton Family.
"Alright."
Hugo indeed didn’t want others to know, because Eleanor’s current status in the Quinton Family was truly awkward.
In the afternoon, Eleanor went to Samantha Sullivan’s place to pack her things.
"How did you find a place so quickly? Where is it? I’ll visit you often."
Eleanor explained Marcus’s situation and finally sighed.
"The offer is very tempting, and I won’t stay long in Serenford. Let’s see if I can help him cure Marcus."
Samantha snorted coldly upon hearing it was someone from the Quinton Family.
"The Quinton Family treated you like that, yet you’re still considering curing their son, Grace Lynch’s son. Don’t you remember it was Grace who’s been sneaking around with your ex-husband all these years?"
Eleanor had come across such scenes countless times; she was angry, unwilling, and eventually indifferent.
"I have a connection with Marcus. The child is quite adorable; if you saw him, you’d like him too."
While packing her things, Eleanor said.
Samantha suddenly put an arm around her shoulder, the corners of her mouth curving up.
"I have a great idea for getting back at Grace Lynch. Since you’re now living in Hugo’s house, just the two of you, if you take the initiative, the next child born could be yours."
Samantha was the type to hold grudges, and if it were her, maybe she really would do such a thing.
You seduced my husband, fine, I’ll make your husband’s child mine, and it’ll be even better than what you did.
Hugo is a man that many women in Serenford want to get close to, and given his status, it’s not a bad thing if you can.
"You know I can’t do such things."
Eleanor had finished packing, sighed, and said, "I’ll head off first."
Samantha always felt frustrated with Eleanor’s lack of initiative. Nathaniel Quinn betrayed her for so long, and she could endure it, yet a chance for revenge is right here, and she scorns to take it, truly foolish.
"Go on, go on. With you here, I have no time to meet my boyfriends."
Eleanor knew she was speaking sarcastically, smiled slightly, and carried her suitcase downstairs.
When she left the Quinton Family, she didn’t bring anything; these were all bought at Samantha’s place.
When she got downstairs, she saw the driver waiting nearby, and seeing her, he came up enthusiastically to help with her suitcase.
"Miss Hollis, the room over there has been prepared for you."
"Thank you."
Eleanor got into the car, stared out at the scenery, and thought of Grace Lynch, a hint of a smirk in her eyes.
She indeed had thoughts of retaliating against Grace. This person sneaked around with her ex-husband, so she wanted her to taste the feeling of her husband being with someone else.
Eleanor admitted she had become somewhat dark, but five years of pain and suffering, and now having to go away because of Grace’s terms.
She was unwilling.
Grace Lynch cares most about Hugo Quinn. If one day she finds out Eleanor is at Hugo’s villa, she’ll probably go mad, Eleanor thought maliciously.
When she arrived at the villa, she realized just how large a house a wealthy person lives in.
Previously, she admired Samantha’s high-end apartment, but seeing this villa, that apartment seemed unimpressive.
"Miss Hollis, please follow me."
The driver led the way, opened the villa door, and then led her to a room on the second floor.
"Miss Hollis, there are many rooms on the second floor. The first floor is for the assistants. I asked Mr. Quinn, and he decided to place you here."
Eleanor nodded and pushed the door open, finding the room beautifully arranged, matching her taste. It seemed Hugo had put thought into it.
She put down her things and opened the closet, only to find it full of unopened women’s clothing. She was startled, wondering if these could be Grace Lynch’s things.
Thinking that, she didn’t touch the closet anymore. There weren’t many clothes; leaving them in the suitcase was fine.
"Knock knock."
Someone was knocking on her door. She opened it and saw Marcus.
Marcus was holding a plate of fruit, his big watery eyes looking at her.
"Thank you, Marcus."
Eleanor bent down to take the fruit, noticing Marcus had already sat beside her.
Meanwhile, in the study next door, a doctor was in front of Hugo.
"Mr. Quinn, since that lady can get Marcus to speak, she must help with his subsequent treatment. Autism can’t be cured with medication; only patient guidance can help."
The doctor had been responsible for Marcus’s condition over the years and was an authority on the treatment.
But with Marcus, he had encountered obstacles repeatedly because Marcus never initiated conversations, rejecting all contact.
Furthermore, all of his emotions seemed like a stagnant pool, treating everything as if it were the same.
Now that this special connection had appeared, they had to seize the opportunity.
"I understand; I’ve already kept her here. She’ll help me treat Marcus."
Hugo massaged his temples, discussed things further with the doctor, and only then did they leave the study.
Walking past Eleanor’s room, both heard Eleanor’s voice.
"Marcus, who is this character?"
"Hua... Mu... Lan."
The child’s speech was slow, but at least he was talking.
"Marcus is good, and who is this?"
"Jiang... Zi... Ya."
Like a child just learning to speak, painstakingly pronouncing each word.
Eleanor felt a twinge of sadness in her heart and didn’t know where it came from.
Hugo exchanged a glance with the doctor, saw approval in the doctor’s eyes, and knew he’d made the right decision keeping Eleanor, feeling relieved.
The two of them reached the downstairs living room, and the doctor was full of joy.
"Marcus is willing to speak! It’s a major breakthrough. I’ll have Miss Hollis lead Marcus to speak more words."
Hugo was a bit excited too, but he always kept a poker face; no one could read his expression.
After seeing the doctor out, he glanced upstairs, suddenly longing to hear the child call him dad.
Over the years, he had tried countless times, yet Marcus always just looked at him quietly and then hung his head.
For someone like Hugo, who had dominated the business world for years, to be unable to handle a child was quite ironic.
"Prepare dinner."
He instructed the kitchen.
Then he went upstairs, standing at Eleanor’s door.
As a man, it wasn’t polite to just enter a girl’s room, so he never stepped in.
"Mr. Quinn."
Eleanor saw him and led Marcus out.
"Miss Hollis, I’ve arranged everything for your grandmother and sent bodyguards to guard her. They will meet all her needs. If you want to visit her, you can ask the villa’s driver to take you."
