The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 319: Enjoying the Shade Beneath a Great Tree
CHAPTER 319: CHAPTER 319: ENJOYING THE SHADE BENEATH A GREAT TREE
Jane Shaw’s footsteps halted suddenly, feeling a bit sorrowful as this person had never understood why she was angry.
"I ask you, if one day your father asks you to abandon our mother and daughter and marry another woman, would you listen to him?"
What upset her was this person’s inability to differentiate right from wrong. As long as it was his father’s order, he would do it, regardless of its correctness. He was like a puppet, a puppet of his father.
"My dad wouldn’t do that. He really likes you and also likes Chloe."
Hearing his reply, Jane Shaw slowly closed her eyes.
Simon Quinn saw her like this and felt anxious. He hurriedly grabbed her hand.
"Jane, I really don’t know where exactly I went wrong. Can you just tell me? Don’t make me guess. I’ve been sleeping badly, thinking about this every day."
Jane Shaw shook off his hand and looked at the man with panic on his face, while she felt an unusual calmness within her heart.
"Don’t come looking for me anymore. I’ll find another dad for Chloe. I absolutely wouldn’t let someone like you be her father."
A flash of shock crossed Simon Quinn’s eyes, his body instantly stiffened, and he stopped speaking.
Jane Shaw entered the door, closed it harshly, and turned on the light in the room.
Chloe was already asleep. She went to the bedroom to check on the child and found that she was hugging a doll sleeping, with a few drops of drool at the corner of her mouth.
She smiled slightly, took out a tissue to wipe the drool, then tiredly went to take a shower in the bathroom, and came out to lie down beside the child.
"Mommy, you’re back."
Chloe slowly opened her eyes and looked at her.
Jane Shaw pulled her closer into her arms, softly said "Mm," and was about to close her eyes when she heard Chloe continue.
"Mommy, are you planning never to forgive daddy in your life?"
She hadn’t seen her dad in a long time, and wondered if she wouldn’t have a father anymore.
Jane Shaw’s face stiffened, and she suddenly opened her eyes to look at her.
"Chloe, if you really like him, you can go live with him. You’re our child and have the right to see him."
A child’s lack of fatherly love is the parents’ responsibility. Even if Simon Quinn marries someone else, Chloe can still live with him.
"I don’t want to, Mommy will be sad. If you don’t like dad, we won’t be with him. I only want you."
Chloe hugged her waist tightly. A flash of comfort crossed Jane Shaw’s eyes, feeling that raising her daughter all these years had not been in vain.
They had always depended on each other all their lives, and Simon Quinn had never been a part of their life before. With just material things, how could he truly win his daughter’s heart?
The two of them fell asleep holding each other, ignoring the man waiting outside.
Simon Quinn waited until the middle of the night, realizing that Jane Shaw was still cold-hearted and didn’t open the door. His eyes flickered, and he took out a cigarette and slowly smoked it.
When he finished the cigarette, it was already three in the morning. The night wind was a bit cold, and as he stepped out, he shivered and then got into his car.
He didn’t believe that this was how it would end between them.
Simon Quinn quietly sat in the car for a while before slowly starting the car and leaving the place.
Since Eleanor Hollis’s return the first night, rumors had gradually started to spread. Previously some women were eager to make a move but instantly hid their ambitions because they all knew that as long as Eleanor Hollis was around, Hugo Quinn couldn’t see anyone else. After all, Hugo Quinn had completely broken off with the Quinton Family for Eleanor Hollis.
Eleanor Hollis’s seemingly coming back to life quickly became a hot topic on Weibo. Some netizens were eager to see what Eleanor Hollis looked like, but Hugo Quinn had always protected Eleanor Hollis’s privacy very well. No media dared to post Eleanor Hollis’s photos, or else Grandeur would sue them to bankruptcy.
"Eleanor, do you think this looks good?"
Today, Eleanor Hollis was in a rare good mood and went out shopping with Gloria Galloway.
But both of their spirits were not high because they had just been stopped at the Sullivan Family again, and it seemed that Mom Sullivan and Dad Sullivan had made up their minds not to let Samantha Sullivan contact anyone until she agreed to get married.
Gloria Galloway sighed and slowly put down the clothes. In fact, she wasn’t in the mood either, but after being refused by the Sullivan Family, they had nowhere else to go, so they ended up here picking out clothes.
"Eleanor, what do you think Samantha plans to do? Her phone can’t be reached, and she can’t contact us. Are we really waiting to attend her wedding?"
In her heart, Samantha Sullivan and Evan Yancy should be together, but there was such a huge gap between the two.
Eleanor Hollis didn’t say anything. They found a store to sit in, casually ordered some snacks, and absentmindedly started eating.
"Then what do you think we can do? Samantha can’t leave her family behind, and she absolutely can’t elope with Evan Yancy."
Eleanor Hollis took a sip of lemon water and said slowly, her eyes full of worry.
If Samantha really married someone else, she would never be happy for the rest of her life. After all, she and Evan Yancy had been apart for so many years and still hadn’t forgotten each other, which showed how important this relationship was to her.
Gloria Galloway, being more impatient, was already getting anxious, sighing continuously.
"Your past experience is proof enough. I’m really afraid Samantha will repeat your mistakes. Five years is way too long for a woman."
Eleanor Hollis didn’t say anything. Indeed, her marriage was an utter failure, to the point where it was used as a negative example by everyone.
The two of them quietly ate for a while, neither of them speaking until they went back, continuing their silence, unable to think of a good solution.
A week later, the Sullivan Family sent the wedding invitations to both of them.
Eleanor Hollis stared blankly at the invitation and then casually tossed it aside.
Samantha Sullivan still hadn’t taken any action, what was she planning? Did she really intend to marry someone else?
Eleanor Hollis sat on the sofa, and finally brought Hugo Quinn with her, going to the Sullivan Family again.
Given Hugo Quinn’s special status, if he personally knocked on the door, Dad Sullivan and Mom Sullivan couldn’t possibly kick them out.
Sure enough, Dad Sullivan and Mom Sullivan quickly came out to welcome Hugo Quinn inside.
Eleanor Hollis eagerly followed behind Hugo Quinn, suddenly feeling that it was indeed nice to rely on someone powerful.
As soon as she reached the living room, she wanted to go up to see Samantha.
Even though Dad Sullivan and Mom Sullivan looked a bit sullen, they didn’t say anything.
Eleanor Hollis went to Samantha’s room, knocked on the door, and then used a key to open it.
Samantha Sullivan was staring at the sky outside in a daze, thinking it was her parents who came in, so she didn’t respond.
"Samantha?"
Eleanor Hollis’s tone carried a hint of surprise, as she was finally seeing this person.
