CHAPTER 334: CHAPTER 334: SHE FELT GUILTY AND DIDN’T WANT TO ARGUE

Could it be that Meredith Sterling was taken away by thugs because she waited there too late?

She dared not think any further, turned around in a panic, and sat down on the sofa.

"Send someone to find her, Lan Yancy, you handle this. We must find her quickly."

Hugo Quinn’s voice remained steady, but his brows were already knitted.

Lan Yancy had already sent people to look, but those thugs were like foxes, impossible to catch in a short time. All they could do was sit in the room and wait for news.

With each passing minute, Eleanor Hollis grew more anxious. If something happened to Meredith Sterling because of her, would it be her fault?

If she had informed Hugo Quinn after the meeting that Meredith Sterling was waiting outside, perhaps the abduction wouldn’t have happened.

At ten o’clock in the evening, someone finally arrived with news that Meredith Sterling had been found, but her condition was very bad.

When the three rushed over, they finally understood how dire her situation was. At the time of discovery, she was still being assaulted, and it had been going on for two or three hours. Now, she was somewhat dazed, continuously screaming and crying.

Eleanor Hollis slowly covered her mouth with her hand; the panic intensified as she saw the other’s disheveled state.

Hugo Quinn had already moved to Meredith Sterling’s side, supporting her onto the ambulance. People around cast sympathetic glances, everyone aware of how tragic her experience was this time.

Eleanor Hollis’s limbs felt cold as she got on the vehicle, unable to utter a single word.

Once at the hospital, the doctor performed a simple cleaning on Meredith Sterling and then stated that her injuries were severe, affecting both her body and mind.

Hugo Quinn listened intently to the doctor and nodded, instructing the doctor to provide proper treatment.

"Hugo, sobbing, Hugo save me..."

Meredith Sterling kept crying and saying, flailing her hands in the air wildly. Even sedation didn’t work, indicating the extent of the trauma.

Hugo Quinn glanced at Eleanor Hollis but didn’t step forward. Instead, he signaled Lan Yancy to stand in front of Meredith Sterling.

Meredith Sterling immediately hugged Lan Yancy.

"Hugo, why didn’t you come to see me? I just wanted to say goodbye. I clearly asked Eleanor Hollis to pass you the message, sobbing, I waited a long time. I just wanted to say goodbye and then leave the country. Why wouldn’t you give me that chance? I wanted to return the check, and the tie clip you left in the hospital room, Hugo, sobbing, I really meant nothing else."

Hugo Quinn heard her words, his frown deepening, and then turned to look at Eleanor Hollis.

Eleanor Hollis’s limbs grew even colder under his gaze, and she could only open her mouth slowly.

"She went to your meeting place in the afternoon and asked me to convey a message, that she wanted to see you. I’m sorry, I forgot."

Eleanor Hollis slowly lowered her head, not daring to meet his eyes.

This time it was her mistake; she shouldn’t have forgotten it. She pursed her lips, not arguing because everything Meredith Sterling said was true.

"You forgot?"

Hugo Quinn’s voice was very calm, but to Eleanor Hollis, it felt cold, like it was laced with frost.

She truly forgot, distracted by the CEO’s words, with all thoughts focused on Hugo Quinn and unable to recall Meredith Sterling waiting outside. Besides, if it were any other woman, she probably wouldn’t want someone to be so close to her husband.

"Hmm."

She didn’t refute at all.

"Eleanor, do you know how much harm your forgetfulness caused her?"

Hugo Quinn wasn’t blaming her, just stating a fact.

But to Eleanor Hollis, it felt like blame.

Her face turned pale instantly, still not daring to raise her head to look at him.

"Stay here with her, I’ll head back first."

She walked out in embarrassment, the moment she turned, tears started to fall.

Hugo Quinn stood still, contemplating whether his tone was too harsh just now.

"Hugo, sobbing, am I unclean now? I don’t want to live anymore, don’t want to live..."

Meredith Sterling began to struggle frantically, grabbed a nearby fruit knife, and stabbed it into her thigh.

The surrounding doctors screamed and started to bandage her again.

Hugo Quinn suddenly felt annoyed, knowing this incident would surely leave a shadow on Eleanor Hollis’s mind. That woman was probably crying, but Meredith Sterling wasn’t easy to deal with either.

He stayed at the hospital until past midnight, only breathing a sigh of relief when Meredith Sterling was finally calmed down.

As soon as he stepped out of the ward, a man approached, Meredith Sterling’s abusive husband.

Hugo Quinn’s face darkened; what was this man doing here? He didn’t expect him to be released from the police station so quickly.

"What did you do to my wife?!"

When the man learned of Meredith Sterling’s injuries, he raised a fist and swung it at Hugo Quinn. Hugo Quinn tilted his head, narrowly avoiding being hit.

"You beast! Aren’t you already married? Why are you still entangled with my wife? I’ll kill you today!!"

The man’s eyes were filled with jealousy. Thinking about how he stood by Meredith Sterling for so long, yet she never liked him and only thought about the man in front of him, he couldn’t help but feel sorrowful, jealousy flooding his heart.

Hugo Quinn felt no agitation, taking on the man’s blows, then kicked him hard, sending him flying.

He had no time to mess around with this man; he needed to check on Eleanor.

The man lay on the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood but not wailing, watching Hugo Quinn leave with bloodshot eyes.

The ward resounded with Meredith Sterling’s cries again, causing the man’s heart to tremble. He quickly got up and went into the ward.

He already knew about Meredith Sterling’s ordeal, but he didn’t mind at all. In fact, he had feelings for Meredith Sterling, it was just that he liked her too much and cared too much. That’s why, when he found out she had someone else in her heart, he hit her.

They’d been married for a year, and in that year, she refused even to kiss him.

Why? Clearly, he was the one by her side, so why did she keep thinking about Hugo Quinn?

Was it just because Hugo Quinn had money? But Meredith wasn’t that kind of girl.

"Meredith, don’t be afraid, I will always be by your side. Don’t be afraid, I won’t abandon you. Once you’re better, I’ll go abroad with you, and we’ll live a good life together."

When Meredith Sterling first went abroad, she faced many difficulties without family ties and, with her money stolen, life was tough. It was then that he fell for her.

She was strong, making one want to protect her.

Meredith Sterling hadn’t completely lost her mind. She heard the man’s words, but her heart was full of disdain.

What qualifications did this man have to say this to her? He wasn’t as good-looking as Hugo Quinn, nor did he have Hugo’s wealth. Besides his useless affection, there was nothing left. Unless she was blind, she’d never stay with such a man.

Only Hugo Quinn was worthy of her!
