CHAPTER 335: CHAPTER 335: HE WANTS HER TO FEEL HEARTACHE

The man stayed until dawn before reluctantly going out to buy breakfast.

Last night, when Hugo Quinn returned, Eleanor Hollis was already asleep and ignored everything he said.

As soon as she woke up in the morning, Hugo hugged her waist.

"Don’t misunderstand what I said last night."

His tone was cautious, accompanied by a sigh.

"Eleanor, what are your thoughts?"

Eleanor opened her eyes, not daring to turn around to look at him.

What does she think? Would any other woman hope for someone to entangle themselves with her husband?

She and Hugo were already married, and Meredith Sterling’s harassment was inherently wrong. Should all blame be shifted to Eleanor just because Meredith had encountered unfortunate incidents?

Last night, when she had just found Meredith Sterling, Eleanor felt guilty, thinking that Meredith’s misfortunes were because of her. But after a calm night, Eleanor had thought it through.

Meredith ended up this way largely because she sought to entangle someone else’s husband. Had she not harbored certain thoughts, how could she have been so stubborn in wanting to meet Hugo?

Eleanor’s fists gradually clenched. She took a deep breath before speaking slowly.

"I don’t think I’m wrong, Hugo. You already know how she feels about you. If another man liked me, would you tell him? People are inherently selfish. I won’t absolve her of everything just because of her unfortunate experiences."

She spoke seriously and slowly sat up in bed.

"If you think I’m a cold-hearted woman, then let’s separate. Our values are not compatible."

Our values are not compatible?

Hugo was somewhat angry too. When he pursued her, they never mentioned incompatible values; when they registered their marriage, they never mentioned incompatible values.

How long has the marriage been, and now she wants to separate? Does she view this relationship so casually, to abandon it at any time?

He got up in silence, dressed quietly, and didn’t respond to her words.

Eleanor, equally stubborn, didn’t turn to look at him until the door closed, at which point her tense body finally softened, and tears began streaming down.

Eleanor isn’t used to arguments. She prefers the silent treatment.

Over the next week, the two hardly spoke, and even Marcus felt the cold atmosphere at home.

Marcus asked his dad, who said nothing, and his mom, who felt like a closed book.

Three days later, Lan Yancy quietly brought news that Meredith Sterling had already gone to Grandeur and taken Eleanor’s position.

Eleanor’s heart skipped a beat, feeling unsettled. Her position? Does this mean Meredith could meet Hugo at any time?

With a sarcastic smile on her lips, she grabbed her bag and drove to Grandeur.

The employees at Grandeur were indeed discussing the new female assistant, saying she was Hugo’s mistress kept outside.

Upon hearing this rumor, Eleanor was furious.

She walked to the top office floor, glanced at her seat, finding it empty.

She sat down at her desk, rummaged through the drawers, and found no other belongings, suggesting it was still her position.

"Miss Hollis, you’re finally here."

Lan Yancy approached with a stack of documents and placed them on her desk.

Eleanor wanted to ask about Meredith Sterling but feared being too direct since she and Hugo were in the middle of their cold war, ignoring each other.

After placing the files down, Lan Yancy left, and Eleanor didn’t have the chance to speak.

Lan Yancy walked into Hugo’s office, respectfully placing the last folder on his desk.

"President, Miss Hollis is here."

Hugo looked up, casually twirling something in his hand, signaling that she still cared. Hearing Meredith Sterling had come to the company prompted Eleanor to rush over.

"Miss Hollis doesn’t seem to be in a good mood."

Lan Yancy recalled Eleanor’s frosty expression; this time, the conflict seemed serious.

"I know."

Hugo felt troubled, wanting to proactively end the cold war, yet Eleanor’s icy demeanor made him uncomfortable.

Regarding the incident, Meredith Sterling had already proposed a solution: hoping to become a regular employee at Grandeur.

As for the rumors in the company, he had deliberately spread them to lure Eleanor over.

In reality, he could easily resolve this nuisance with Meredith, but couldn’t act too resolutely due to a past favor regarding a knife, so he simply agreed to her conditions.

"Lan Yancy, fetch some cat fur."

Thinking of a plan, Hugo raised his eyebrows, challenging Eleanor not to react.

Lan Yancy knew what Hugo intended, frowning.

"President, you’re highly allergic to cat fur. You shouldn’t try recklessly; it could lead to fainting, the need for an IV, or hives, affecting your work."

Lan Yancy advised kindly, although reconciling with Miss Hollis was important, the man’s life was even more crucial.

Yet, Hugo gave him a dull look.

"What’s more important, work or my wife?"

If he lost his wife, what work would matter!

Seeing Hugo refused to be persuaded, Lan Yancy reluctantly sought cat fur.

That afternoon, Hugo suddenly fainted in the office, causing an uproar throughout the entire top floor.

Upon hearing this, Eleanor nearly sprinted into Hugo’s office. Seeing him unconscious on the sofa frightened her. Observing the hives on his neck and face, she realized he was allergic.

"Lan Yancy! Lan Yancy! Call 911 quickly!"

Eleanor couldn’t care about their cold war, she was so frightened her hands and feet trembled.

Witnessing Hugo’s severe reaction, Lan Yancy immediately called 911, escorting Hugo to the hospital.

"How did cat fur end up in the office, Lan Yancy? Investigate properly. Is someone trying to harm Hugo? Catch this person definitely!"

Eleanor paced the corridor, anxiously, as doctors examined Hugo inside, fearing something might happen.

Lan Yancy kept silent, contemplating who could harm the president when he caused this himself.

"Have the office thoroughly cleaned, ensuring no more cat fur appears."

Eleanor instructed, tiptoeing to check inside, only to see Hugo still unconscious. Her hands clenched slowly, palms dampened by sweat.

"Ding ding ding."

Her phone suddenly rang, it was Marcus calling.

"Mommy, why aren’t you home yet?"

Marcus’s voice was soft; recently, the cold war between his parents affected him too.

Whenever both were home, he’d be too scared to breathe, forced to act cautiously.

"Marcus, finish dinner first. Your dad’s allergic reaction requires hospitalization, I have to stay here with him."
