CHAPTER 351: CHAPTER 351: I DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME LEFT

Serena’s face was drenched in tears. Hugo wasn’t afraid, but she was.

"Serena, the world doesn’t stop turning just because someone leaves. I don’t have much time left. Please stay with me in the hospital."

Florian’s face was deathly pale, as if a gust of wind could blow him away.

Serena nodded, tightly holding his hand.

"Florian, I’ll stay with you."

Suddenly, she regretted wasting so much time searching for a suitable heart. Knowing this would be the result, she should have spent all that time with Florian. Maybe he could have spent these years happily.

On the other side, Hugo had arrived at the Crawford Family’s estate.

Because there were many people looking for him outside, he didn’t dare leave brazenly now, surely an ambush awaited him otherwise.

His head was worth a billion now, and he really couldn’t figure out who had put a bounty on him.

"Is it safe here?"

He glanced at Xavier and said, slowly placing Eleanor on the bed.

Xavier nodded, patting his own chest.

"Rest assured, no one dares to mess with the Crawford Family."

Hugo breathed a sigh of relief, but his eyelids suddenly started to droop. He hadn’t rested at all these past few days, constantly on high alert. Now that he finally had a break, his body couldn’t take it anymore.

"You should sleep first. Once you wake up, I’ll have the kitchen prepare a meal."

Hugo nodded, taking off his shoes and lying down beside Eleanor, who was only injected with anesthetic and would wake up soon.

He was supposed to wait for her to wake up, but he really couldn’t hold on.

He tightly embraced her, filled with contentment. As long as she was still around, that was all that mattered.

Though Eleanor was injected with anesthetic, she was still vaguely aware of her surroundings. Once she knew she had been rescued, her entire body relaxed and she fell into a deep sleep.

She woke up two hours later, noticing the familiar embrace. Her lips curled into a smile as she quietly turned to observe his face.

Hugo was very handsome. She had never seen such an attractive face. Perhaps it was the filter of her feelings, but she thought Hugo was the most handsome man in the world.

"Thank you, for saving me once again."

She whispered softly and slowly nestled into his embrace, greedily inhaling his scent.

Hugo was very tired. He slept for four straight hours, waking up at dusk.

He felt beside him, finding no one there, and almost instantly jumped up.

"Eleanor!!"

He shouted, hoarsely, with a tinge of fear.

Eleanor quickly pushed open the balcony door and walked out.

"You’re awake? Are you hungry? Shall we go down and eat together?"

Hugo sighed with relief. He had feared saving Eleanor was just a dream, dreading waking up to find there was still no news of her.

"Yes, let’s go eat."

He hugged her, and the two of them headed to the ground floor together.

Cole was not there, only Xavier and the servants remained, probably because he didn’t want to see them either.

Xavier’s eyes lit up, quickly calling Frost over.

"When you went back last time, I planned to find you, but my brother made me learn about the company, so I was delayed. I didn’t expect you’d be able to see Frost so soon."

Frost ran to Eleanor’s side, wagging its head incessantly. Its fluffy white body looked incredibly endearing.

"Frost, long time no see."

Eleanor happily interacted with the dog, leaving Hugo feeling somewhat uncomfortable. He gave a cold snort and sat down at the dining table.

Dogs are quite intuitive, and Frost probably sensed Hugo’s dislike, so it stayed near Xavier and Eleanor the whole time, making Hugo even more uncomfortable.

He sat at a distance, and with Cole’s cleanliness obsession, there wasn’t a trace of fur to be found anywhere in the villa.

Concerned that Hugo might be allergic, Eleanor was cautious not to let Frost near Hugo.

Once the meal was finished, the sky was already very late, and Hugo intended to take Eleanor away.

"Are you sure? Leaving at night might not be wise. Those people are still out there, only deterred from entering because this is the Crawford Family estate.

Xavier was a bit worried, given that Hugo was taking Eleanor with him, and the bounty still had Hugo’s name. With the tremendous temptation, many would seize any opportunity.

"At night, it’s precisely the safest. They probably think I’ll stay here for several days. Eleanor, prepare yourself, we’ll leave in the second half of the night. Xavier, lend me a helicopter."

Hugo started making arrangements, having his people take a flight back because the assassins’ target was him, and they wouldn’t trouble anyone else.

"Alright."

Xavier couldn’t argue with him and had no choice but to agree, though still worried about Eleanor’s safety.

"Why not leave Eleanor here, and once you reach Serenford, I’ll have someone send her back. This way, she won’t be exposed to the danger that follows you."

Hugo’s face darkened. Knowing Xavier’s intentions toward Eleanor hadn’t faded, he coldly retorted.

"I advise you to face reality. Eleanor and I are already registered. It’s none of your business. If you get involved further, that makes you the third party. Are you willing to be the third wheel?"

Of course, Xavier was willing, but if he and Hugo clashed, Eleanor would definitely side with Hugo. Thinking of this, he sighed and simply waved his hand.

"Fine, fine, it’s not like I was eager to see you anyway."

In the middle of the night, the sound of a helicopter echoed in the estate. Hugo brought Eleanor onto the helicopter, with Lan Yancy as the pilot. The group slowly departed, while the rest stayed to rest until dawn before finding their own way back.

The assassins indeed did not pursue them. Hugo breathed a sigh of relief, holding Eleanor securely in his arms.

"Sir, it was the Wexler Family who put your name up."

The bodyguard at his side informed him. It was the information they had gathered yesterday. Recently, it seemed there had been significant changes within the Wexler Family, though he only heard of these changes and hadn’t found out who was now in charge.

The entire Wexler Family remained tight-lipped, with not even the bodyguards willing to divulge a single word.

"I understand. Once we’re back, I’ll thoroughly investigate the Wexler Family."

Hugo said, calmly massaging his temples, pondering the situation with the Wexler Family, when a pair of gentle hands began massaging his head.

"Don’t think too much, just rest a while. Whatever will be, will be."

Hugo looked at Eleanor’s face and smiled, the two embracing as they fell asleep.

When they returned to Serenford, it was already noon the next day, as the connecting flight had delayed them for quite some time. Fortunately, everything was peaceful.

As soon as they opened the door, Marcus rushed out, face full of excitement.
