The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 359: The Child Is Doomed
CHAPTER 359: CHAPTER 359: THE CHILD IS DOOMED
"President, what should we do?"
There are so many people in the company waiting for their paycheck, but Meredith Sterling seduced the director of the finance department, interfered with the company’s finances, and deliberately withdrew reported tax money, creating the illusion of tax evasion for the company. To the authorities, this matter is inseparable from Grandeur, especially since Meredith pulled such a stunt, now the tax evasion issue is nailed on the board.
Hugo Quinn rubbed his temples, it seemed he would have to personally talk to those people.
However, before he could arrange a time, he received a call from Lan Yancy saying Eleanor Hollis went to meet Rachel Lynch.
Rachel Lynch is Eleanor Hollis’s biological mother. It’s not unusual for Eleanor to see her.
He didn’t think much of it, continuing to ponder solutions.
When Eleanor received Rachel Lynch’s message, she was a bit resistant. She didn’t really want to see this mother, who now had her own family. Normally, they shouldn’t disturb each other, but today the other party suddenly contacted her, wanting to meet no matter what.
She sat in the café, looking at the woman across from her, face full of worry, while she was very calm and sat down.
"Eleanor."
Rachel Lynch called out, clasping her hands tightly, her brows furrowed with worry.
Eleanor didn’t know exactly what she wanted to say, just quietly looking at her.
Rachel Lynch hesitated a lot, but if she didn’t agree to the old man’s words, her son might be lost. He was her hard-earned child after ten months of pregnancy, and she was beyond the age of childbearing. If she lost this son, she and her husband would never have another child.
"What do you want to say?"
Eleanor’s intuition told her there must be a reason this person sought her out.
Rachel Lynch curved her lips in a smile and beckoned the waiter.
"Let’s have something to eat first."
She slightly bent her lips, ordering a coffee and placing it in front of Eleanor.
Eleanor didn’t drink immediately, instead listening to her talk on and on about her current life.
Rachel Lynch lowered her head, also ordering a coffee for herself, talking softly about the past years, with the intention of wanting to break the barrier with Eleanor, her daughter.
But Eleanor didn’t join in on the topic, just drank a few sips of coffee without speaking.
The coffee was quickly finished, and Rachel Lynch suddenly felt a bit sad, figuring that after today, this daughter probably wouldn’t want to see her again.
She was a selfish person. Although she felt sorry for this daughter, she wouldn’t exchange her son’s life.
In her heart, her son was still more important.
Minutes after finishing her coffee, Eleanor felt a piercing pain in her stomach.
Her face turned pale as she raised her head, blankly staring at this person.
"Mom, what did you do?"
This call of "Mom" made Rachel Lynch’s hand tremble, the spoon dropping to the ground.
"Eleanor, I’m sorry. I know you won’t forgive me. When you wake up, go abroad, don’t stay by Hugo Quinn’s side anymore. I will find friends abroad to take good care of you."
Eleanor immediately fainted, a stream of hot blood flowing down her leg.
Rachel Lynch hurriedly called an ambulance, her face turning pale.
Wasn’t it supposed to be just a sedative? Why was her daughter bleeding?
She suddenly panicked, quickly taking her to the hospital.
The doctor examined carefully for a while, then said seriously, "The child cannot be saved, we will try to save the mother."
In Rachel Lynch’s mind, there was a loud clattering noise, nearly causing her to fall to the floor.
When did Eleanor get a child?
Her legs went weak, directly kneeling on the ground, she caused her daughter’s child to die, it was over, everything was over.
She took out her phone and called the old man, her voice angry.
"Didn’t you say it was just a sedative? Why is the doctor saying her child can’t be saved, and when did she get pregnant? Old man, I thought you were just extreme, not a liar. I didn’t think you’d stoop to such low methods."
The old man’s lips curled into a smile, nodding in satisfaction upon hearing Eleanor’s child couldn’t be saved.
"I’ve already had your son released, don’t blame me. Who knows if you would reveal the truth to her after this ends, I could only use your hands to remove her child, to worsen the relationship between you two."
Rachel Lynch felt a chill down her spine. She indeed had planned to tell Eleanor the truth and that it was all the old man’s conspiracy once her son returned home safely.
But now she had killed Eleanor’s child, even if she spoke the truth, Eleanor wouldn’t believe her.
Rachel Lynch trembled all over, she really didn’t know Eleanor was pregnant, or she would never have done it.
Soon, Nathaniel Quinn walked over from the side, his face full of indifference.
"Auntie Lynch, this is fate for Eleanor. Leaving Hugo Quinn is the best choice. Grandpa is on his deathbed, he doesn’t mind using any means. Eleanor surviving is already a stroke of luck."
Nathaniel had already understood that opposing the old man had no good outcome.
He felt sorry for Eleanor, but there was nothing he could do, who made her fall for the son whom the old man cared about the most?
When the accident happened to Eleanor, Samantha Sullivan happened to be having a check-up at the hospital, knowing of Eleanor’s accident, she hastily came over.
"Auntie Lynch, how is Eleanor? What happened exactly?"
Rachel Lynch slowly got up, handed Eleanor’s bag to her.
"This is Eleanor’s bag, you keep it. I guess she never wants to see me again."
After placing the bag in Samantha’s hands, she almost held onto the wall to leave the hospital.
Samantha felt vaguely uneasy, quickly took out Eleanor’s phone, and called Hugo Quinn.
Hugo arrived half an hour later, hearing the doctor say the child couldn’t be saved, his heart shivered violently, what on earth happened?
How could it be that going out once, the child couldn’t be saved?
He called Rachel Lynch, only to get the answer that Eleanor herself didn’t want the child.
Hugo’s heart hurt deeply, from the moment he knew about the pregnancy, Eleanor had been unhappy, it turned out he was the only one looking forward to the child’s arrival.
But how could she, how could she make a decision without consulting him, to remove the child?
He furiously pounded on the operating room door, an unprecedented madness.
"Eleanor Hollis! You get out here!!"
His eyes were bloodshot, in the end, even starting to kick the door. The child was theirs, she had no right to decide the child’s fate!!
The attending doctors inside the operating room stopped their actions, all breathed a sigh of relief, they finally managed to save the mother’s life.
