CHAPTER 376: CHAPTER 376: HE DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO CHERISH WOMEN

Grace’s face stiffened, Hugo was still the same, dismissive of women. The only one who could capture his favor was always Eleanor Hollis!

She bit her teeth, almost wanting to scream out loud.

What on earth is so good about Eleanor Hollis?! No background! No education, any random person on the street is better than her!

Or is it that Hugo just likes her type? Her eyes turned gloomy, but she held back from acting out.

"Since President Quinn is going to meet Xavier, let me ride with you. After your talk, I can have Xavier take me to the hospital."

Blood continued to flow from her leg, and any man with the faintest compassion would not agree to her suggestion.

But Hugo was different, he had no idea what it meant to be compassionate.

"Okay."

He agreed straightforwardly, helping her to the back seat directly.

Not the passenger seat, but the back seat.

Grace almost fainted with anger, her whole body was trembling.

But Hugo seemed oblivious, driving directly to the meeting spot with Xavier.

Xavier expected only Hugo to show up, and was shocked to see Grace hobbling out of the back seat, quickly striding over.

"Grace, what happened to you?"

Grace’s knee was still bleeding, and since the heel of her shoe had broken, she couldn’t stand steadily.

"I accidentally fell, luckily I ran into President Quinn."

Though she was seething inside, she still found herself speaking well of Hugo.

That man was utterly heartless, actually bringing her here to Xavier.

Xavier frowned, turned and apologized to Hugo, "I’ll take Grace to the hospital, sorry, let’s reschedule."

Hugo raised an eyebrow, Xavier had changed so much; previously, he never cared about any woman, except Eleanor Hollis.

But now it seemed, his whole heart was completely with Grace, this Grace really had some skill.

Which was good, considering it had removed a rival for him.

Xavier took Grace to the car, carefully wrapping her leg with the spare bandage from inside the car.

"It must hurt, bear with it for now."

Grace’s lips curled slightly. Thinking that this man was now hers, she couldn’t help but feel a bit smug. Apparently, Eleanor’s charm wasn’t that great; with just a little maneuvering, this man had changed his feelings.

Xavier drove fast and soon reached the hospital.

The doctor disinfected Grace’s wound and stitched it, giving some advice on what to watch out for.

Grace’s face looked a bit pale, in hindsight, if she had known Hugo wouldn’t bother with her, she wouldn’t have orchestrated this act herself—getting stitches really hurt.

Once everything was dealt with, Xavier lifted her horizontally, heading downstairs.

Grace pretended to blush, curling up in his embrace.

"Xavier, you are so kind, being with you makes me happy."

Xavier’s heart warmed, this was such an unfamiliar feeling.

Nobody had ever depended on him like this. He had wanted Eleanor to rely on him, but someone was already beside Eleanor.

And while at the Crawford Family, he always depended on that brother.

This was the first time someone depended on him, and it felt quite nice.

He placed her in the passenger seat and thoughtfully fastened her seatbelt.

"I am your fiancé, it’s what I’m supposed to do."

Grace leaned over, leaving a kiss on his cheek.

"I really want to marry you soon."

Xavier blushed slightly, Martha used to be as bold and direct, but he only found her annoying.

But after Grace kissed him like this, his whole body felt warm.

Could it be because he had taken her first time?

It seemed that since that time, Grace’s position in his heart had changed, at least he felt a responsibility towards this woman.

Hugo waited until Xavier’s car drove away before slowly getting into his own.

Xavier was becoming more and more invested in Grace; perhaps that was Cole Crawford’s plan all along.

No matter how capable Xavier was, in Cole’s eyes, he was just an inexperienced child, with all his actions under Cole’s control.

Hugo didn’t go home but returned to the office, continuing with meetings.

It wasn’t until nine at night that he finally let the executives go, rubbing his brow as he left the office.

Just as he reached downstairs, he saw Eleanor Hollis waiting outside.

"Why didn’t you go up?"

What was she doing waiting here at this hour, it was cold outside.

Eleanor blew hot air on her hands, holding a cup of hot milk tea before him.

"I just arrived too, saw milk tea for sale there, so I got you a cup, it’s still hot, go ahead and drink."

Hugo saw her bright eyes, a flicker in his own.

In fact, he never drank milk tea, such things were high in sugar and not really hygienic.

But facing Eleanor’s smile, words of refusal couldn’t come out, so he took it and had a sip.

"Get in the car, don’t catch a cold."

He was still wearing the scarf Eleanor had knitted for him, wearing it repeatedly because he liked it, making everyone at the company aware of how special this scarf was to him.

They both got in the car, Eleanor sat in the driver’s seat, making it easier for him to drink the milk tea.

Hugo complied, sitting in the passenger seat, taking continuous sips.

Chewing on the black pearls, he frowned, wanting to spit it out, but ultimately forced it down.

Returning home, the milk tea was already finished.

Eleanor hopped alongside him, in great spirits.

"Run with me for a bit."

Hugo suddenly grabbed her, his face somewhat pale, consuming something so sweet, his stomach felt uncomfortable.

"Is it because of the milk tea? Is it too sweet? I heard wealthy bigwigs manage their health very strictly."

Hugo had a great physique, eight-pack abs, an attractive V-line, he liked exercising whenever he had free time, even if busy, he would still work out.

"Yeah, a bit uncomfortable."

Eleanor shot him a look, why drink if uncomfortable, she quickly took his hand and ran around the villa.

Hugo laughed, striding his long legs behind her.

When they stopped, both were already gasping for breath, just as Lan Yancy called.

"President, this time it’s true, the plane didn’t crash, it was hijacked, we’re not sure if there are survivors, there’s been a disease outbreak here recently, and they’re not allowing any investigation, even the Crawford Family’s people were sent back."

Lan Yancy and Cole Crawford had rushed to a small country in Africa overnight, although they found the plane’s location, they couldn’t enter to investigate, the government had closed the roads due to serious illness.

Hugo’s brows knit tightly, such illnesses weren’t seen domestically, but in Africa, with its dense jungles, many deadly viruses originated from there.

Viruses that sporadically break out all come from Africa, and many viruses still don’t have targeted treatment internationally.
