The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 4: Meeting on a Rainy Night
CHAPTER 4: CHAPTER 4: MEETING ON A RAINY NIGHT
Outside, it was raining heavily, with lightning and thunder.
Eleanor Hollis was drenched all over. Thinking about the Quinton Family’s expressions, she felt nausea churning in her stomach, and tears mixed with rainwater slipped into her mouth.
On the black Bentley, a little boy stared, unblinking, at the woman crying messily on the street, tapping his fingers on the window glass.
"Little master, sit properly, it’s raining outside, be careful not to get wet."
The driver cautioned, suddenly hitting the brakes hard to stop when he saw the little master had already opened the car door, almost scaring him out of his wits.
If the boy fell, even dying a hundred times wouldn’t pay for his mistake.
The little boy had already run into the rain, terrifying the driver. He was supposed to take the little master to Quinton Manor for dinner tonight; Mr. Quinn had asked him to pick up the little master due to work-related business.
"Little master, please don’t scare me, come back!"
He hurriedly grabbed an umbrella and chased after him.
Eleanor Hollis was crying, suddenly feeling a force crash into her. Her swollen eyes met the boy’s bright eyes, glowing with an expression she couldn’t comprehend.
Seeing the little master had bumped into someone, the driver rushed forward with the umbrella, noticing the boy was soaked through, and quickly reached for his phone to call Mr. Quinn.
"Mr. Quinn... Mr. Quinn, little master is wet all over; I might need to take him back to change his clothes."
Hugo Quinn heard this on the phone, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes. That child had always been obedient and silent since birth, never uttering a word; how did he suddenly get soaked by the rain?
"What is he doing?"
The driver shivered all over upon hearing this icy tone, quivering his lips as he tried to pick up the little master, but the boy kept holding onto Eleanor Hollis.
"The little master saw a woman walking in the rain outside and suddenly opened the car door to get off. Luckily, I braked in time, otherwise..."
Before he could finish, the man spoke, "Bring him back; I’m returning home immediately."
The driver nodded quickly and hung up the phone, casting an awkward glance at Eleanor Hollis, whose face was swollen and hair was disheveled; he couldn’t see her features clearly at all.
Being outside in the pouring rain, if she had any other intentions, it would be disastrous.
But considering the one at home, even if this woman had other intentions, it was unlikely she’d succeed.
"Miss, the little master is of noble status; come with me and get in the car. The little master’s health has always been poor, and if anything happens, I’ll lose my job."
Eleanor Hollis shivered in her body, feeling cold inside and out. Seeing the luxury car parked not far away, she shivered and nodded, crouching down to pick up the little boy, hugging him directly in her arms.
The driver looked on, surprised at the scene; the little master was not only frail but had also suffered from autism for years. Mr. Quinn had tried many ways for years to get the little master to approach him actively.
Yet so far, the little master merely didn’t resist his approach.
Just now, he had seen clearly that it was the little master who had thrown himself into this girl’s arms, and if Mr. Quinn saw it, it probably wouldn’t sit well with him.
In the Quinton Family all these years, Eleanor Hollis hadn’t received much good treatment but learned a lot; she immediately recognized the car as a Bentley, indicating the little boy’s extraordinary status.
On such a night, getting into a stranger’s car was dangerous, but now she had nothing, what plans could they have against her?
She laughed bitterly at herself, curling up in a corner after getting into the car.
